And yet Akai Katana doesn't let you input your initials and doesn't show you a scoreboard after each game, which is one of the worst features of recent Cave ports.
And all the menus are in Japanese.
Deathsmiles' menus work just fine, except that there's four thousand game modes to cycle through.

Yeah i wish they would have stuck with the whole ds/galuda2/dfk port engine. It would be easier work for them then to make new menus and everything for each port.Special World wrote:And yet Akai Katana doesn't let you input your initials and doesn't show you a scoreboard after each game, which is one of the worst features of recent Cave ports.

Jesus I can't believe what I'm reading. Most of the people in the board are just whining about res filters, ugly graphics what the hell????
W're getting a port of the first Mushi, we'll get Mushi 1.5 for sure and almost everyone is complaining even if the gane isn't out yet. If you don't like what you're seeing you'd better tame the easy way and just don't buy the game so that you're eyes won't screambout of pain while playing the game.
That being said I hope to see in a no distant future an Ibara/Ibara Kuro port.

Yeah I have no idea wtf is up with the graphics bitching going on here. Though really, that particular screenshot isn't really the best one to show off IMO. I'd like to see one of Stage 4 myself.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Well. It's different whining about a new game being bad and a port of a game which is perfect by itself and just needed to be ported without any major changes.Phellan Wolf wrote:Jesus I can't believe what I'm reading. Mushi was perfect as it was. Colourful, vibrant, awesome gameplay, hot sex. Every permament change will be whined about and that's perfectly legitimate.
It is the same with every remake of a movie, snack, car, whatever that you want it to be as perfectly accurate to the original. You had the same thoughts
about something once.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
weird, the grey background looks x2 upscaled and none of the edges of anything have antialiasing.. i guess thats why it looks a bit icky
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Bloody hell are people really complaining about graphic filters? I've put my fair share of time into Mushihimesama at the arcade and quite frankly having a graphics filter makes precisely fuck all difference to the gameplay. I get that some people have an arcade style tated CRT and want the 'authentic' experience but SERIOUSLY can we get some perspective here? We're getting a port that lots of people have wanted for a long time, myself included and people are bitching about the graphics looking less crap than before.
As shmup fans we have been quite spoilt lately and this bitching is just ridiculous!
As long as the patterns are the same and all that, then it is going to be fine!

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
For the record, both Futari and Galuda 2 (don't remember DFK well enough) have had high-res sprites and unaltered, pixelated backdrops. I bet the reason most of you don't remember that is that you were too busy following the action to pick something as minor as that out. Mushi HD isn't really going to be different.
...Except on the first stage which is so boring you have enough time to gaze at the background.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
The only 2D cave port to have redrawn backgrounds is Akai Katana. The rest are just the standard low-res backgrounds upscaled.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I'm not worried as much about the graphics, it's the aspect ratio that bothers me.
Please Cave, don't feed us yet another squashed black bars port for my old TV or broken zoom mode.
Also, not sure about 1.5 being included. I'm being a cynic here but everyone's saying it's gonna be included when there hasn't been any confirmation of it (correct me if I'm wrong please) and odds are once you all find it isn't included it's gonna be a real letdown. I'm not holding my breath - expect the worst, hope for the best.

it's not in the menu so the chances are low. doubt that "arrange" will be 1.5. but maybe it'll take some aspects from 1.5. as i also doubt it will be the ps2 arrange. dlc maybe ?BPzeBanshee wrote:Also, not sure about 1.5 being included. Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
We don't yet know whether it is in the menu. Most Cave ports don't list all modes on the same screen.

I bet Mushi 1.5 will be dlc just like ver1.01 for Futari or ver1.51 for DFK and will be available for first print only. Time will tell and fortunately we won't have to wait much longer to know. I am sure the game is going to be out in late May.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I'm thinking if it does get in it'll be as DLC. Maybe they may go like what they've done with DFK and have quite a few modes as DLC but who knows at this point.matrigs wrote:it's not in the menu so the chances are low. doubt that "arrange" will be 1.5. but maybe it'll take some aspects from 1.5. as i also doubt it will be the ps2 arrange. dlc maybe ?BPzeBanshee wrote:Also, not sure about 1.5 being included. I doubt it'll be first-print stuff though. Unlike the older initial v1.01s and stuff for what's been included as first-print in other games this is quite the popular mode and a big deal. I don't think they'd try to pass it off as some small bonus thing, plus it'd rake in more cash as DLC anyway (first-print sales if included in first-print vs. 99% of all the games sold is a no-brainer).
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Yeah, since it's not in the name, it most likely won't be a freebie mode; compare: "DoDonPachi DaiOuJou Black Label", "Espgaluda II Black Label" (BL included in both), "Akai Katana Shin" (Shin mode included), "Mushihimesama Futari 1.5", "DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu 1.5" (BL not included but released as a DLC), and so on.
Charging extra for it is probably a wise thing to do for Cave, since at this point most people would actually be more interested to have the rare and fresh v1.5 rather than the commonplace original release. Not including it in any form whatsoever will likely be a bad thing as well, for the same reason.
Cave seems to be confused by its own naming scheme, though, since Mushi 1.5 is not merely a tweak; it is closer to a typical Black Label in the amount of alterations.

Yeah, Mushi 1.5 is probably going to be $15 DLC, if anything. I really wish they would put it on the disc, I hate the idea that one day my Xbox will break down and Xbox Live will be gone and I'll have no more Futari Black Label. That would be terrible. Is there anybody here who's backed up these files online? If not, we should really get on that, uploading to multiple places in case they go down.
I just hope Mushi 1.5 gets some form of console release. I'm really looking forward to playing it.
And I think the graphics look great. The only Cave port that suffered from their HD sprites IMO was Deathsmiles. Futari and Espgaluda II both looked better in 360 mode.

Futari has the best UI of the CAVE ports hands down.newguns wrote:That card interface is the same crap they used on Resurrection, Deathsmiles, Espgaluda II etc. just slightly modified. Awful UI.
Personally I think this confirms that there is an A team and B team at CAVE, the A team being the one which built Akai Katana's amazing interface, and the B team being the one in charge of everything else. Futari stands out as a beautiful interface because M2 built it. Everything else has been variously bad to horrible.
Let's Ass Kick Together!

I understand that its important to support the developers but that doesnt give them free reign to release sub par content. That screenshot looks more like one of X.X's doujin shmups than something from CAVE, I give them the benefit of the doubt until I see more screenshots from other sources but I wont be happy if I have to look at graphics like that on my HD TATE monitorPhellan Wolf wrote:Jesus I can't believe what I'm reading. Yeah I know gameplay is king but eye candy is still important

1.5 is counterstoppable really early: "Why do you care, stop whining. Be glad you might get to play it!"
The port has high resolution: "Fuck this! Shit game, not buying!"

Step 1. Replace your eyes with miniature CRTs
Step 2. Hook them up directly to your 360
Problem solved.

I'm still of the opinion that that shot isn't really a shot taken from the game. It looks like a mock-up made from assets all pasted together in photoshop.
Whatever it actually is I'm sure the game will look right when it's playing. none of cave's other games look that sharp and edgy in motion, and there's no reason to assume this one will be either.
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

Why would they possibly go through the effort of assembling a mock-up screen when the game itself is already being certified for release?DrTrouserPlank wrote:I'm still of the opinion that that shot isn't really a shot taken from the game. And again, you've clearly never seen screens from the other Cave 360 ports. They all look exactly like this. I don't understand why people are acting so shocked.
