Any other visible changes? I'll be waiting for the definitive release.

I'm glad things appear to be settled down now. Peace for everyone, we just want to shoot those pesky aliens that invaded the Earth. (After all, we've got to shoot something!)

I think these are minor graphic changes as well as small changes to bullet patterns and I've definitely noticed an improvement in performance too.
The consecutive versions are marked on the title screen as "v1.0", "v1.0~", "v1.0!" and "v1.0/" so far.

We need v1.0fun^10xint^40=Ir2 :P (I hope someone catches the reference)

Anyway, good to see there is a sense of humor going too! With all being serious business and, well, serious I thought Serious Sam 3 was coming earlier.

Next patch is just up: http://www1.axfc.net/uploader/Sc/so/226835&key=fix
bringing us to "v1.0?"

There's talk on the board of R-Type and a hidden Image Fight ship but not really sure what's going on (for a change lol) :D

@hzt: could you explain what's being discussed again if you have the time please

Anyway we're really cooking now!

I know what it might be: the final pattern of the last boss is AWFUL. Slow, you take an era dodging the same boring R-Type options and, overall, it's a total letdown compared to what you've been facing before. It doesn't even freaking follow the fast paced Hibachiesque music. And if you are playing Vic Viper and you die there it's Game Over... (actually, past stage 2, if you die wherever you are guaranteed to get a Game Over, pretty much like any Gradius :P )

oops I meant death mode in the regular stages not the boss rush. if maniac is a 2nd loop (tsuujou) then death mode is the other harder loop (ura)?

I thought Death Mode consisted only of the Boss Rush mode, so if there's anything different besides that it's new for you and me both. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful in that regard. :?

In regards to Hiseki's last pattern that feeling of slowness could still be fixed if the R-Type options spawned quicker, moved more quickly around the screen and if there was less of them around. Give it a more manic feel instead of "oh god i have to dodge around these hax0r stupid blobs". I think "AWFUL" is a bit exaggerated though.

As for that Image Fight secret ship, haven't figured that one out. I dont suppose it's unlock-only?

Well, I tend to have a reputation of being exaggerated so, yeah, maybe I went overboard :P

Ok, let's keep rockin' in DETROIT! Shall we assume the last releases+updates are the definitive 1.0 or should we still wait for a more solid 1.0?

Latest post on 2ch board says bug reports will be closed "at 23" (11pm Tokyo time I guess) so I get the feeling the Final version is still on it's way :D

Piss easy! Finally one I can decipher!

I will PM you the pass JUST in case. I don't want this one to be suddenly removed 'cause we posted the key here. If anyone else figured it out, please refrain from posting it. Prudence, patience, ummm, whatever. PROFIT.

That's great! Thanks Observer- it's really fitting that you who first posted this game here should be the one who unlocks the final version :D

On the 2ch board the developer says he's done with this now and it's "for Japan use only" which seems a bit weird.
At the risk of pissing him off, maybe you or hzt could post our thanks and appreciation on the 2ch board cos we're really loving this right?

Let's see what happens once the dust settles!

Well, I'm not sure if the whole thing about ripped sprites and such was ever cleared. I noticed a lot of stuff got replaced by original materials but, again, it was never too clear. So I guess they abide to the "Japan only" policy just in case, hence why the game was shifted from working in non-nihongo, filthy-gaijin losers' computers to suddenly working only in a japanese environment.

There goes any hope of one last version with gaijin-Windows support... Ah, well. C'est la vie!

If anyone can check the final changes and such I'll be grateful. Very interesting project and, yes, I think we should send our thanks and hope all the misunderstandings can be cleared/forgotten.

That's really a shame, because it was a high-quality game...

Can someone make sense of the post please?

Someone with good japanese should definitely post on the board and explain our position.
This is such a good game- why shouldn't it cross over to the occident?

Basically no mirrors and don't post the link or the pass just link to the thread. Might want to edit your post then if you don't want to piss him off. Also the Image fight stuff and all that the other day was was nothing really, just some chat that grew from him saying he wasn't put anything in from non arcade games.

Still, the "for use in Japan only" deal seems to imply that "we're" not supposed to be playing this. Can you ask the author to clarify on what he really meant?

Did I also pick something up about not wanting to get called for using material from other games?
Anyway, like Samurai Fox said it would be good to clear up this confusion.
In a post on the 2ch board we could tell the author how much we're enjoying the game (and draw his attention to this thread if he doesn't already know about it) and explain that we would like to be playing it with his approval.
Under what conditions would it be acceptable to him for non-japanese to download the game?
Maybe he could host an english-language friendly exclusive mirror himself so that distribution remains under his control.
And of course thank him and ask if he has any further projects.

They made NicoNico available in spanish... If they need something to blame, that's the prime target since this is how I find about most stuff when it's not through STG newsfeeds. I randomly put keywords in japanese and use the interface in my own language, which I always thought was a blessing as I found a lot of other spanish speakers frequent NicoNico and the site is much friendlier that way.

As hzt seems to have pointed out, just linking to the 2ch thread should suffice. No mirrors, only the original links. To whoever is interested in trying to play it should check that. I edited my older videos with some updated commentary although the versions I used are really outdated now.

So, you don't think it might help posting anything? :? In that case, better to just not post anything and let things cool off with a well placed dose of silence?

It's really just such an awesome crossover of stellar ships coupled with great music and all... It would be a bloody shame if it just poof and goes by totally ignored.

Plus I want to see someone daring to make a scoreboard of 22 different ships.

edit: if he has any future projects, I hope it's the successor of Crimzon Clover or something similar!

But it would be virtually impossible for a non-japanese speaker to work out how to download this excellent game simply by linking to the board. We've only managed it here thanks to you Observer, hzt and nZero's linguistic skills.

We should definitely get a post up on the 2ch board as soon as hzt is happy to do this.
At least then we will have made contact with the author and won't have to play in secret.
What's the worst that could happen? :D

OMFG!

I came so close to 1CCing this game with Vic Viper and died at that fucking Hiseki thing. You guys really weren't kidding about 1 death = game over.

My face went hot and red, my hands were shaking and my heart was acting close to Chuck Norris when he invented heavy metal by starting his own heartbeat!

So close, and yet so far!

Well, turns out I can't figure out the key after all. The kana I tried didn't work.

So, anyone who could PM me the code?

Edit: oh lol, I had the right kana. Only I wrote hiragana when they wanted katakana.

He said he's just going to ignore my post because we didn't read the explanation. I don't know what he's basing that on (because he read this thread and noticed some people have exchanged his ineffective anti-foreigner password privately?) or even what explanation he means if it's not the one in the thread, which is in Japanese so I don't know how he expects non-Japanese to...

I don't think he really has any plans to accept foreigners playing the game.
