Thanks for the offer but I have to decline, I can quite easily order from the UK due to both being in the EU so none of that import taxes crap.

Does someone have experience with ShopTo? They sell the Deluxe Edition 14€ cheaper (so it's only ~21€) than play.com...

I've had colleagues order from them. I'll check on Monday for feedback on the service.

I've ordered from ShopTo (from within the UK) a number of times and they have been fine.

I'd already pre-ordered from HMV or else I'd have ordered with ShopTo as they are a better company to deal with imo. http://hmv.com/hmvweb/simpleMultiSearch ... Search.y=0

Just pre-ordered from ShopTo. HMV seems to only sell the Normal Edition for the same price like ShopTo for the Deluxe.

All copies will be Deluxe Editions, there is no Normal Edition at this point. I preordered from hmv also, seems to be the best place at the moment.

After this release is out I hope someone compares it to his NTSC-J version who knows it might be closer to the NTSC-J version but not 100%, you can never be too sure.

It's finally up on Amazon UK, but it's £24.56. Maybe they'll match the HMV price before release?

I can vouch for ShopTo. Pre-orders always arrive on day of release and quite often 4-5 days prior.

Amazon have dropped it to £17.91, which is the cheapest so far I think. Huzzah.

Really looking forward to this game... It's growing on me... First, I thought it was rather "meh", but the more I see of it, the more it's "do want". :-D

DVD.co.uk has a 'Limited Edition' of Deathsmiles and the description says it includes a faceplate, soundtrack and horizontal art box.

Official word from Rising Star Games is that there is only one edition.
What you describe seems an awful lot like th US version.

It got officially dated just now. 18th of Feb.

Here's the new press release:
Rising Star's PR wrote:Deathsmiles Deluxe Edition will be released in February
Rising Star Games announces Deathsmiles Deluxe Edition will be released 18th February 2011

Wednesday 19thJanuary 2011: Shmup fans won’t have to wait much longer to pick upthe Deluxe Edition of Deathsmiles. The Halloween-set Deathsmiles will shoot into shops on 18thFebruary 2011.

Featuring three different game modes: Arcade (original Arcade game), Xbox 360 (Arcade conversion) and Version 1.1 (conversion designed specifically for the Xbox 360), Deathsmiles also features a two-player co-op mode, where players can take up the challenge with a friend at home or via Xbox LIVE. With difficulty options on all modes catering for newcomers and veterans, the PAL version of the game also includes the Mega Black Label pack: an expanded version of the game with a range of special features, an additional stage and an extra playable character.

Bespoke to the PAL market the Deluxe package includes the official Deathsmiles soundtrack and desktop accessory pack. The soundtrack and desktop accessory pack were not included in the Japanese or US versions of the game and only released separately in Japan at the equivalent of over £25. The soundtrack features 23 tracks and the desktop accessory pack lets fans kit out their PC with exclusive Deathsmiles materials.

“At Rising Star Games we’ve been competing to get the highest score on Deathsmiles. With the release date next month I’m looking forward to opening up the scoreboard so shmup fans can get online and compete with their friends and peers.” said Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. “We’re delighted to work with CAVE, they really are the legends of the shoot-em-up genre. It’s a real privilege to bring the Deluxe Edition of Deathsmiles to the to the PAL market on 18thFebruary.”

What's the general opinion on DS anyway? Consensus good, decent, sucky, highly debated?

The first DS is considered an awesome, slightly easier foray into Horis by Cave. Whether the second game is any good is a topic for debate around here, although I happen to think it's fantastic.

Unlockable achievements? Is that really a selling point these days?

I've already got the NTSCJ version.

I'll be getting the PAL version as well - the soundtrack and desktop accessory pack are worth £17.91 !

Roll on the 18th Feb !!

I all ready have the NTSC-U version and the NTSC-J Platinum one is on it's way. Getting a third version might be slight overkill. Despite supporting PAL shmups and everything.

Captain Cat ... are you named after the character in Under Milk Wood?

Nope. I came up with the name myself and it was only afterwards Google told me that there actually exists a Captain Cat. Well, I should have known.

Hope it's not a disappointment :P

Looks good. The worst part will be choosing the right time when the shop is empty to go pick it up. Hopefully the box doesn't look TOO MUCH like a rape sim.
