I hope my posts aren't being seen as negative. 50 minutes is still a hell of a lot better than 90 minutes. :p
TheSoundofRed wrote:Not to throw more negativity onto the Sine Mora negativity pile, but doesn't the main gameplay mechanic revolve around the slowing of time? As cool as it may be, I'm not sure it can surpass any of the other shooters that utilize this mechanic.
I actually don't think there's enough shmups that utilize that mechanic.

i think in my mind i was lumping any game that uses a mechanic that slows bullets, not just time. Derp, my bad.

I'm still anxious to see how this game turns out. Still waiting for that hori that can sit alongside Progear.

This is correct. Grasshopper's involvement is limited to the graphics and sound--Digital Reality is entirely responsible for the game design. Furthermore, I don't think Suda himself has anything to do with this (probably busy with that Kinect game ATM), and it wouldn't be the first Grasshopper game where he didn't.

Yeah, I just noticed that apparently this thing will be a 360 exclusive now - am I late to the party on this one?

They were talking about a possible PC version--I guess we can rule that out now.

Aaaand this is the point where I stop giving a fuck about this shmup because it's not on my only-owned-this-gen platform. Fuck the exclusivity seriously.

what's this supposed to mean?

And I'm also late to this Sine Mora party, but it's nice to know it's coming out for the 360.

It was always coming out for the 360--the issue here is that it was originally multiplatform, with the devs hinting at a future PC release. Now there's no chance of any of that.

Well I was under the impression it was hitting XBLA anyway but being exclusive is a bit stupid. Maybe Sony got worried after seeing this bit or something;
Sine Mora is a diesel-punk shooter with a time manipulation mechanic. Players can customize their plane into one of 60 combinations and fly through stages with Akira Yamaoka’s music playing in the background.
Frankly it worries me too. The amount of seemingly small nitpicks here is starting to stack up into a serious potential for a stupid failure and even I'm losing faith (haters gonna hate). I'd even make a checklist but I'll be nice and wait for the game to actually come out and pull it to pieces then. :P

Seriously though the exclusivity makes them sound like they're either being M$'s bitches to get money or they don't think it'll pay off to make it multiplatform, which is shooting themselves in the foot because they'd be reaching a lot more of their "casual target audience" by making it multiplatform.

I was totally hoping this would hit the PC seeing we are getting a big influx of releases with Satazius, Ether Vapor, Gundemonium Collection on Steam, Waves and so many, many more...

Fuck the exclusivity, seriously. x1 Another vote for that.

I would rather save up and buy fucking Valhellio. At least that has highly fappable art by Tony. Time to forget about this.

...

Of course, if it does end up on PC I take all back and bring in the flowers for the fantastic tea party. Though I highly doubt it now :P

Exclusivity does suck, but IF the game was unable to find a publisher (which seems plausible, considering the niche genre) at least MS decided to 'help it out'

While I agree that the exclusivity is BS, seriously dudes, if you're a shmup fan who still doesn't have a 360 you're missing out on a colossal amount of stuff.

You're not wrong, but if you have a 360 and live in a place that doesn't really support it you're still fucked AND you have a console that's as useful as a doorstep, which is why Kaiser for example (among many others) owns nothing 360-related.

Digital Reality's changed the game's logo, as well as their own. Looks like they're trying to ape Grasshopper's.

"Insane" difficulty looks about standard Progear level to me. They've tried to tone them down, but the bullet wobbling and screen shaking are still incredibly obnoxious. Loving the music, though.

If nothing else, this game becoming a success might make Microsoft US more willing to approve other shmups for Games on Demand.

Sine Mora is being released on XBLA, not GoD. Or do you mean more non-localised versions of JPN releases being allowed onto GoD? In which event, I very much doubt the barrier to entry on that service is Microsoft, given that it was Microsoft who approached Cave with the idea.

Rebooting the genre, what a joke.

Does look nice and I'm not seeing any real alarm bells that I haven't mentioned before in terms of gameplay, but I can see those wobbling bullets pissing a lot of people off. Hopefully it's a good game and sells accordingly.

It's a good idea to show the difference between normal/insane - Cave take note. But that shaking... game breaking. Might have been answered before (apologies if so) but can it be turned off?

Not a big fan of the screwball bullets. It'd be better to just make them larger and not have them going all over the place like that.

They already have. Check 1:13 in this trailer:

Screen shake and twitchy bullets. I don't like either of these things. I want to test my reflexes, not be punished for my inability to focus on erratic movements.

I'll give this game a try, and I want to like it, but that trailer was a chore to sit through, IMO. If the game is paced as poorly, it's going to be a tough 50-80 minutes to replay.

Not a massive fan of suicide bullets. It's hard to tell - are they aimed or not?

I love the aesthetics, though. Some of those boss type enemies looked really cool. If nothing else it should be cool to blast through story mode and see what crazy critters crop up. Do we have a release date yet? Might hold some points back.

They are not aimed - they work just like the shrapnel in Gradius.

As soon as we have a concrete release date, it will be announced on the game's Facebook page, I guess. Most likely it will be released (very) shortly after the upcoming House Party.

Oh god, I already hate those wobbling bullets :|

The graphics are great though. Seems like this game has really high production values.
