Yeah, got mine too and I'm just appalled at the lack of options! I can't play a game unless I can tweak the shit out of a series of filters! These polygonal graphics make me sick!!!

Hmmm...things sound a little bad so far, but I'll try to be optimistic.

My copy won't be here until probably next week, but hopefully by then, someone will have posted more info on the options that are available, so I hope there's a way to adjust the game when it arrives.

I noticed this too, the LE is just coming with a soundtrack CD and a DLC card? So does that mean we got an actual jewel case for our LE music CDs for once? I hope this also doesn't mean the actual game case inside the LE slip cover is the SE box art, imo defeats the purpose of going LE at all this point.

I think it might be the same type of box as the Futari LE.

Clearly not :| or I wouldn't be asking and knew what to expect. Was oblivious to play asia's DS 1 LE box screen shots as they had none in stock anyways when I got my import box a few months back. Just checked it out, I rarely click on screen shots at PA since their image quality is usually appalling. Oh well, just time to find room again for another over sized box.

Does it really come with the regular box inside the LE slipcase?

What about the DLC card? Do both versions come with one?

Thanks!

We won't know for sure about the DLC cards, but previous history placed all or most of the LEs having it, and only the first x number of regulars having it.

The LE usually contains a typical game keepcase (with the same cover art as the outer cardboard box, so it's not the same as the regular case's art) and a jewel case for the CD.

I'm one of those scummy regular edition customers, which I regret, but I'm still stoked to know mine shipped today!

I don't know if I should get this or not. I've gotten all the other X360 cave shooters, is this one worth getting? :? All I remember hearing is the arcade version seemed like it lacked a lot of things...

I think "seemed like" is the key phrase. The final revision of the arcade game seemed to receive pretty positive reviews from people that frequent this forum and actually played the game.

Is this better than the first DS? One thing I liked about the first DS was its fairly simplistic mechanics. Plus it allowed you to pick the difficulty for each stage.

Being 3D would be ok if it was done well.. apparently it wasnt. I dont know if i want to shell out cash on this unless its a really fun shooter. Does it equal with Espgaluda?

The game might look a bit lackluster from screenshots, but a lot of people whose opinions I trust say it looks a lot better in motion, and plays excellently.

From what I hear, the arcade version didn't have selectable difficulties but the 360-specific mode (which Cave seems to consider the primary mode) does. It looks similar enough at first glance that you could probably play it exactly like you would play the first game and still have a lot of fun with it though.

The first DS was what made me finally bite the bullet and get a Japanese 360. I ended up with both versions, plus I bought the Official Artbook, the Official DVD and a pile of other stuff.

I am getting both the regular and LE of this too and I'll reserve judgement on the game until I've played it. Mine shipped today.

NCS posted a scan of what the DLC card looks like, but something looks a bit off...

...

Why does it say "Deathsmiles III X"?

I would have to say that the DLC must unlock the sequel.

I got to spend a little time with the game today, and I must say, the game is pretty fun. Honestly, the graphics are fine. It actually looks a lot like DeathSmiles I with the way things are rendered, which is just fine with me. The patterns are great, it feels just like DeathSmiles, just....wider, I guess

Thanks for the update. Is it right that there is no mechanic relating to breaking crowns (or skulls or whatever) in the sequel?

That's one of the features of DS that I enjoyed the most - working out the best places to enter power mode and letting the crowns break against the scenery for lots of shit all over the screen and big scores.

Any word on 4:3 support? I have no intention of moving my j-360 away from my crt set-up. I assumed the rumors of only 16:9 support were false, since every game MS releases has to pass 4:3 functionality tests. It's just a standard requirement for certification, so I really have a hard time believing this game is an exception.
