Yep, this is taken from that Project Hame SDOJ DVD-R superplay...is one of those 1CC sessions but with some impressive bullet weaving/dodging tactics used during the various stages. The overall presentation is presented in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio (perfect for viewing on a Blu-Ray player hooked up to a HDTV via HDMI setup & upscaled to 1080p format for maximum visual punch/flair). This SDOJ superplay will tide the SDOJ fans over for now (until Cave releases their own official SDOJ DVD set whenever that may be). Audio is presented in 48kHz mode for some super stereo audio fidelity (through a Blu-Ray player). I was blown away by how stellar the screen capturing method that is used to show this particular SDOJ score run by SKM-OH! player. You can easily see the score crystal clearly on a HDTV setup indeed.

If this Project Hame SDOJ DVD-R is played on a regular 4:3 CRT-based TV monitor, the obligatory black bars at the top and bottom sections of the screen will appear. It's a given with that old-school monitor medium alrighty.

It would be really useful to have the scores of all the videos listed up there too. I understand it would be a huge amount of work though.

Been snatchin' up DVDs whenever I find them. Of course I have extras, so ask if you're interested:

These first two are from player SGP and are for the PC-Engine versions of Raiden and Super Raiden, and each come with a ~20 page book -

The next group had quite a few DVDs under their belts, and they go by the name "Kusogame Love". Their video production capabilities are top notch, and the DVDs have several animated menus and secret features.

Titles I have include:

Battle Garegga (arcade)
Raiden Fighters 2 (arcade)
Raiden Fighters JET (arcade)
Tatsujin (arcade)
Darius Series (SFC)
Gunhed (PCE)
Pulstar (Neo-Geo)
GhostPilots (Neo-Geo)

Next is a special release from Mikado Game Center here in Tokyo featuring Raiden and Raiden DX. Came with the Heavy Metal Raiden music CD:

.. And finally is Raiden Fighters JET from Project Hame:

Ahh, ok.
Not one of the more established players then.

I've been looking for a Yamanaka Demon Golden Bat replay...

About that Kusogame Love produced superplay DVD of Gunhed (PCE), whom is the ace player on it and what's the overall final score? Sounds quite intriguing indeed.

And does this particular Gunhed superplay feature the cool golden Gunhed power-up icon (on the stage with the numerous purple gels all over the place)? I've only gotten it to appear once but it was cool to snatch it up to earn full-auto 8-way directional firepower to the max (slices through both small-fry enemies and end-stage bosses like a hot knife through butter easily). The ol' Video Games & Computer Entertainment issue of the classic Turbografx-16 version of Blazing Lazers walkthrough guide never mentions of this mysterious golden Gunhed power-up icon though.

Not sure who the player is in Gunhed, but when I went to the doujin convention it was the same guy selling all of the "kusogame love" DVDs so I think it may be this "SGP" character who did the Raiden games. He was very animated and excited to talk to anyone about shmups.
Anyhow, as for the DVD - the difficulty is set to "God of Game" and the final score is 13,113,480. It's a no-miss run, and he finishes with 70 lives and 1 bomb in reserve. :D
I just watched the stg 3 run, and I didn't see and Gunhed powerup... :?

GUN FRONTIER/METAL BLACK/DINO REX Sound Tracks for Digital Generation ~GameMusic Discovery Series~

Released last December, a triple disc OST set which also includes a Superplay DVD with runs of Metal Black and Gun Frontier, the former by the current WR holder RVS-R.Y. (and the latter by T3-WIZ)! I'll have to watch that MB run one way or another.

This is a Thunder Force IV DVD put out by BK Hozon Iinkai - a superplay group dedicated to the Mega Drive. You can see their website here:

This DVD features a no-miss clear on hard mode and comes with a 10 page book.

Among the people that play semi-seriously, I'd say yes. I can't speak for the people that play all of their games through MAME, but it is another addictive hobby to get lost in. :?

Interesting! Thanks, rancor!

Coming to think of it, there are video shares for plenty of fighting and RTS games.
(though far more popular, it seems?)

Thanks to a sudden urge to buy lots of shmup VHS, I have a couple of additions and questions.

So, new additions for the VHS in the OP, that I know exist as I just took delivery of them:

• Darius 2 (Pony Canyon)
• Konami Shooting Best (Game Simulation Video) (Gradius, Gradius II and Salamnder on one VHS. I see you already have one Konami Best on you list Sven666, marked as 'Vol. 1'. I can't see any indication on mine as to volume number)
• Metal Gear Solid 2 promo (PSM2 magazine UK freebie) (Not sure if this should make the list. While presented as a MGS2 promo, the VHS is actually a small compilation of promo videoss for a handful of Konami games, including Gradius 5)

And a question about the listed Dodonpachi Gamest videos...

Three are listed, but from what I can tell there are only two Gamest videos of the game, and none match the ones one Sven666's list.

I own:

• Gamest Vol. 39. C-S 2-ALL by player ZBL-NAI
• Gamest Vol. 43. A and B 2-ALLs on one VHS. I think they're both Laser, but will have to go back to the VCR to double check that.

So how many Gamest Dodonpachi videos are there? The OP lists:

Dodonpachi A-L & C-S - Gamest
Dodonpachi A-L - Gamest
Dodonpachi B-L - Gamest

To add to the confusion Vol. 39 appears to feature B ship in the only two screenshots on the back of the case.

From what I remember when I was trolling YJapan for them, the only two official Gamest videos are the ones you have, but there are a couple of doujins floating around?

Ah. So I might not be talking rubbish. That list looks pretty comprehensive.

And I know a little more on those doujin DDP VHS. I'll dig that out soon for here.

On that note, Sven666; you mentioned earlier in this thread having somebody take over to add more detail. If that would be a help, I'd be delighted. No worries if not!
