Parodius is back? Showing at AOU 2007: Otomedius!

Release date (Sept 29th.) for 360 port appeared on official site http://www.konami.jp/products/otome_g/index.html along with some other details; looks like game will support FullHD resolution afterall in original XB360 mode. Also supporting coop via live (up to 3 players), and downloadable characters, stages and BGM. Not bad.

I hope it was just that youtube encoding, as most of the large explosions in the video had some horrendous frame rate drops.

Konami also announced Otomedius G version of Hyper Stick Pro for 25,780yen (bundled with game), same release date.

Judging by the size of the touchscreen, I'm assuming said reticule would be controlled in the style of that of controlling the mouse on a laptop computer?

I just watched the trailer. It was average.. I'm assuming that they'll release a demo before the game. If it's good, I'll get it just because I can.

But I'm not overly impressed. It looks like a doujin/flash game. What is the touchscreen on the stick used for? It seems quite trivial.

Yeah, it looks strangely cheap, even though I've seen a hi-def playthru of the first level and the bg-at least-are not too bad.
But the game per se isn't too enticing.
Oh. The touchpad appearantly can be used to touch the pedoboobs of the main character.

It is the video encoding. The same vid is available on the Japanese Marketplace - just downloaded it and none of that slowdown is there.

omg!! Such exquisite and peculiar features for a shmup from 1995 on!

they're really like two raindrops!

It can take a lot of hints from the Gradius series (shocking news: parodius was born as a gradius parody lol!) but their quality/looks really are different.
If it's soooooo close to GV... then let's prepare for Otomedius as top shmup in the 2009 survey

That would only be if it got a US release on a console most of this board owns. Top Shmups surveys might as well be "Most Accessible/Biggest fanboy following" surveys.

Anywho, um, that joystick with the touch screen is a must buy for me. So... I'll be there day one.
