Pink Sweets ~ Ibara Sorekara (arcade)
good question. with kasumi, it takes me 6 rose cracer shots. in theory, you CAN kill it with the shot, but it takes ages, and you don't really have that much time. as lace has a pretty good piercing shot, my advice would be to figure out how many bombs it takes to kill it, then use 1 less in a proper run, and then hold shot to get the higher destruction points. with kasumi that's kinda hard though. with score attack mode though, it's definitely all about speed. and you can credit-feed through it by the way, if you want to practice the later sections of the level on a regular basis
atm im enjoying pink sweets as much as i could ever enjoy a shmup!
i expected it to be a typical raizing game and i must admit that it actually doesnt feel like one. i wish it would have more secret scoring opportunities like the boats in stage 4. i had some serious probs to get into the rose cracker mechanic and still i sometimes forget that im invincible when i just stop holding that damn A button down. there are so many attacks you can do with just these 2 buttons (rose cracker, shot, option formation change, option shot, speed change, shot frequency change) its quite confusing for me sometimes but i guess ill get used to that soon. i really like that whole "lego atmosphere" of pink sweets and the musics just fitting. the thing that shocks me a bit is that stage 1, 2 and 3 are very easy and then you get a moderate stage 4 and then an ultra difficult stage 5. i dont think its about rank control i think stage 5 actually is THAT hard. i think this THE most difficult cazing game up to now. good thing it also has a wide variety of modes and characters to select for more fun when the regular game gets too frustrating.
it was worth the money.
im not regret.

At least im trying to!are you medaling the entire run?

the optimal place to collect them is right before the first stage 4 worm section. if i accidently collect some before i put them on back. When do you grab the rosehips?
Im getting it right at the start and im trying to use it as often as possible.you really get a lot of points from it.When do you use the super power up?
i only get one varaible extend between mid and end of stage 3. if i didnt get the fixed extend in stage 3 i collect the variable one, if i already collected the fixed one then im going to miss the variable one on purpose because i only suicide once in stage 1 (right at the beginning) and i dont want to have 3 lives in stock. When are your variable extends?

today something weird has happened to me. i was playing stage 5 and i suddenly got an extra life. i dont know if i picked up an item or not. it was after the midboss and it was NOT the one in the last tower because i was trying to destroy them all at this moment. i dont think it was a variable extend either because i usually get no variable one in stage 4 and it seems a bit early honestly.
another strange thing is that i sometimes get the extend from the towers and sometimes not. i dont know what it depends on. im usually destroying all towers.
and does ANYONE have good strategies for the stage 5 midboss? only killing it with the rose cracker doesnt work too good for me.

i use shasta, but i've gotten pretty good at taking him down, usually without dropping a life. it's not great help, but maybe put your options into wide, and be sure to hold the B button down between bombs. is the problem that lace's bomb takes some seconds to protect you? ger had a vid up where he took it out with lace just using the options, and staying over to the edge of the screen as much as possible. and this was on low rank.
and you should get the fixed stage 5 extend every time. i think there are seven towers. sometimes they are on the extreme left, and then the extreme right in quick succession, so maybe you're missing one? do you remember to go left straight after the midboss?
meanwhile, my problem is the second half of stage 5. despite bombing, i still somehow get killed by those lasers

Plasmo - 7,197,310 - Stage 6 - Lace (A)

finally reached stage 6. stage 5 boss really is insane. not only are his attacks nasty as hell but he also has tons of health, it takes at least 4 mins to kill him and if you lose one life youre game over cause you cant kill him with your weak shot.
died at the first midboss - too nervous.

well done! yeah, this is the thing with pink sweets - once you reach a certain point in the game, a single death can be catastrophic in the wrong place. i can't remember how many times i've arrived at the stage 5 boss, only to throw it all away
and yeah, i did mean "asshole
".
but i'll try and take that top slot back! i should be able to play more now. apartment is pretty much sorted, and i started a new job in a newly opened store. it's been crazy, but i should be able to make some time for games now. so expect some scores from me soon
and where has icarus gone

okay, so i figured out the lightning attack
score attack:
jpj - 4,336,060 - kasumi (start)

http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/342/imag0004on9.jpg
on this run, i kinda fucked up a bit. i had worked out the lightning thing a couple of days ago. but usually on a credit-fed run, this was the first time i'd done a full medal no-miss up to the last boss, so nerves set in a little bit - i didn't quite pull it off right. and i had a stupid death on the 2nd form which lost me about 100k.

i didn't clear it sadly. the trouble is that i'm using kasumi, and she's quite a low scoring ship. if i want to persevere with her, i think the only way i could really improve would be to make more points during the level itself. i'm making 3.6+ before the boss, and arriving there with maybe 30-40 seconds on the clock (edit: so i'll time out before the lucrative lightning attack's 2nd appearance). if i score 4+ mill on the level (bombing less, and using risky strategies) i would arrive at the boss with 1:30 on the clock. but i would need a degree of luck to make 1 million in that time, to get another extend; then milk the second lightning attack, and then kill him. so i should probably switch to lace really
on a credit-feeding run, i can get between 1.5 and 2 million from this boss fight. and galford's dvd score, it sounds like he made 2.2 million, so i think i'm doing the right things
the technique itself is pretty much what i said in my previous posts about it
it's a bit difficult to eplain with words, a video would do a much better job. the key is to get him firing up the screen, and watch how is head follows your movements
i'm still not sure if there is a luck element with regards to how many sweeps you can make him do, or i'm just not getting the timing consistent. i usually get 4, but i have done 6 a couple of times
