Dunno, works for me though. ^_-

According to AIVA, both Quaid players are ending the first loop with 1.7mil+, so there must be a good source of points somewhere. Either that, or its just dragonshooting everything in sight, not touching the Shot button at all.

yeah why not, the game doesnt penalise you for it in any way.

OK, so the weakness of Quaid's bomb allows the dragonshot to yield gold coins. That makes sense. I was assuming: Ian's quick retraction of the dragonshot and quick movement=more points. Surely my reasoning is reasonable as far as it goes; it just doesn't tell the whole story.

Yeah, I love the bombs, but I think it would be a nearly irrelevant factor unless they have to use them, which doesn't often seem to be the case for demigod players! I'm surprised Ian's speed doesn't give a slight edge.

As for the first round score, I think I could probably boost my score to about 1.5m max. There's a number of areas to let more small enemies appear, as usual for Psikyo, that I wouldn't bother with. And I skip the 6 tech bonus. 1.7m = not for the inept/lazy, but I can picture it.

Bonus points for surplus bombs + end of game surplus bonus.

Here's my team's scores. I think my team will be taking a break for now, as Psikyo games are pretty irritating at times, and I'm concentrating on Shikigami 3 for the next week.

DRAGON BLAZE - namakoteam RECORDS:
  1. 1,278,200 - Icarus - 2-1 - Quaid
    < HS TABLE > <- replay verified ->
  2. 1,152,000 - mulletgeezer - 2-1 - Quaid
    < HS TABLE >
  3. 923,500 - DEL - 1-7 - Sonia
    < HS TABLE >
  4. 880,000 - Smraedis - 1-6 - Quaid
    < HS TABLE >
  5. 811,700 - freddiebamboo - 1-6 - Quaid
    < HS TABLE >
  6. 288,400 - elbarto - 1-3 - Ian
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

For my score, I no-missed all the way to the sixth stage first midboss (including a lucky dodge through Desert4's boss's second form patterns to get the TB, as I had no bombs). Lost first life there, and used all spare bombs killing the boss, then lost second life at the hornet midboss in stage7. Lost third spare life at the second form of last boss with a bomb in stock (a split second slow on the bomb button), killed the final form using the last bomb I had.

Started the loop with 1.25mil-ish, no lives, no bombs. Got Forest as my first stage in the second loop, managed to get the coin chest, and died at the two large tree-things at the start of the stage.

I'm bowing out of this week to rest, and play something less stressful. Grats Rob on a great 1st place score. I could have caught you if I had more consistency in playing the sixth boss. ^_-

Two starting spare lives + 600k Extend.
I did say I no-missed to the sixth boss, right?
You do know that you get a total of four lives, right?
You do know that this isn't a Raizing game, right? ^_-

When in doubt, always ask for the default settings. ^_-
Damn good score for no-defaults, however.

DISQUALIFIED! :P

I wasn't aware there was an option for no extends. I thought they just offered a change from 600 to 800,000.

Hmm, I've been meaning to ask, is there a coinhead in 1-5? I guess I've been assuming all along that it's something exclusive to the initial four-stage rotation - don't know why.

One coin chest in stages 1 to 6, two in stage7.

I have a 3.5M No miss-ALL Quaid video, and the guy bombs 6 times, all in the second loop. Also, he ends the first loop with 1.5M

Sure, if you buy the PS2 port. They let you set up your desired order in the options menu. Or just keep resetting the rom, the stage order is always the same on the first coin.

I just spent some time resetting the rom. Stage order was different every time. :(

Yeah, I was thinking about how I could justify hiring a student to do the work for me. It might take me a week to get to it (Fall break begins Friday!), but you can be sure it will happen.

You're cruel. A possible solution (i.e. this is what I'd do if a thread I was maintaining got ambushed by a tournament week): post the results as they are in the thread (in a separate chart, below the main one) and let people elect to copy their scores over if they want.
