I suspect there's going to be a huge backlash when Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Paid Demo Action hits, especially from anyone who buys one of the new consoles specifically for it. That's probably why there's no physical release for the next-gen versions outside Japan, to prevent a flood of one-star reviews on Amazon from people who feel ripped off paying £30 for two hours. Bearing in mind that this is Kojima we're talking about, those two hours may only contain 15 minutes of gameplay sandwiched between the cutscenes.

Of course, we're not going to see what either next-gen console is really capable of for another 12-18 months. By then the cross-generation titles should be thinning out.

Loading a game up on a machine using the AMD Jaguar should give a good idea...this is really just pretty basic stuff for the PC side, and any optimizations in the coming years aren't going to double performance or anything.

I would. Even assuming there's demand for the PS4 at launch(which I seriously doubt), there's nothing in the pipeline software-wise to sustain any hypothetical momentum in the following weeks and months. If Sony believed in the strong sales potential for the PS4 in Japan, they wouldn't be launching there last or would at least have developed some token Japan-centric software for the system to show Japanese consumers that they actually care(instead they put Knack on the boxes with PS4 to drive away any potential buyers). As it stands, the PS4's launch lineup in Japan is looking really dire with the biggest title, Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin, being effectively an up-port of the PS3 game and I believe the hardware sales will be reflective of this situation.

There is another nice feature of Kinect 2 that has recently been discovered: If you play Xbone with a friend who is also logged in locally and said friend doesn't own the game you are currently playing and you hand him the controller, Kinect makes the game return to its title screen instead of letting him play. (Reported to happen in Killer Instinct.)

Kopernic and Galileo didn't revolutionize science by simply reading off items from their news feed, a robotic and brainless task which I think should bore you. I can't see that there is any sense of genuine ethics behind it, because you report on literally any thing that is a boost to Sony and a detriment to Microsoft, and stuff most everything else (unless it happens to be pro-Atheism and anti-religion). Don't you have any higher ambitions for yourself? Spending your youth (I assume) fighting the good fight on an obscure Forum, trying to win over people who do not like you, and who like you less the more you reveal about your thinking.

-Being european user, would introduce lag or ruin multiplayer competitive play getting a US PS+ due to local US servers?

-Remote play PS4-vita need the same account/region in both systems? Or the system just streams the game without checking?

I don't play online much, but if you use American servers there is bound to be some added lag, the laws of physics being what they are. If the game you are playing offers a choice (which some do) you should preferably choose local lobbies.

As far as I know you need to use the same PSN account, but it's not necessary to use your primary PS4 account to register a PS Vita on PS4 (and you can create as many sub accounts as you like on PS4).

Friendly, you like science right? Then what's with the carefully ignoring that literally nobody on the Forum is interested in what you're doing, and that the warmest feeling anybody here has for you is studied indifference? I'm not coming at this from a position of feeling superior - I have the same trouble all the time. But I know it's definitely helpful to take a step back sometimes and think when people are telling you to knock shit off. I don't say "it's everybody else's fault; I'm perfect, everybody else has the duty of taking me 100% seriously all the time." Even Galileo could be an obnoxious troll.

Microsoft is going to lose this generation as hard as Sony lost the Betamax war - which probably means it'll be a long-drawn-out process of interest to nobody. Nobody really needs to be "saved" from Microsoft; it's just going to happen.

Anyway, I'm mostly just disappointed that you think this is a good use of your time. I don't doubt that it's your right to be as obsessive as you want, but I am disappointed all the same.

To be fair, I wouldn't have found out about the Japanese PS4 launch if it wasn't for Friendly.

Friendly may get a lot of stick, but I like finding out about forthcoming product launches. At least he/she is a news source, even if the postings are biased in favour of Sony - which one would argue Friendly has every right to have.

I've always had a soft spot for MS ever since that company entered the console industry, and even I don't take any offence to Friendly's postings.

Better to have a news source than to be constantly subjected to mindless fawning over what's already out there. And besides, it's not as if any of the other posters are posting up interesting news for discussion. So why shoot the messenger?

If you don't find the content interesting, then don't read it. Or better yet, don't contribute towards what you ultimately find to be an uninteresting conversation.
