Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
CAVE knows they're going bankrupt, so they decided to literally go ALL OUT.

Nesica makes more sense.Cuilan wrote:I bet that "big announcement" they're making in March will be a Windows 8-exclusive PC port of SDOJ. Since Microsoft Japan is apparently helping out so much with the 360 port of SDOJ, I think it would make sense.

If they're doing it for NESiCA, they might as well do a PC version; it's the same exact hardware.

They never made an akai katana pc port though.trap15 wrote:If they're doing it for NESiCA, they might as well do a PC version; it's the same exact hardware.

SDOJ would be a far better choice as a first-time experiment. Another key difference here would be Microsoft's direct involvement with the title. Again, just a guess on my part.AntiFritz wrote:They never made an akai katana pc port though.

Why would hard-as-nails SDOJ (TATE) be better as a first-time experiment than possible-to-clear Akai Katana (YOKO)?Cuilan wrote:SDOJ would be a far better choice as a first-time experiment. They have a captive audience. Everybody into the genre wants it. They can throw in the kitchen sink of ideas and people will still buy it. It's not as if you will lose the original arcade mode anyway. Also the novice mode means it has a mode that isn't balls hard.

Looks like you're also not part of that intended audience if you managed to not know of those.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Because SDOJ is part of a more famous brand, and because SDOJ's gameplay doesn't seem nearly as difficult to grasp and execute as Akai Katana's, and it sounds like the port is going to have a lot of content that will make it more appealing to more casual players. Also, the Akai Katana port (and it seems like Akai Katana in general) wasn't very well received by the market, certainly not as well as the DDP games. But really, the most important factor here in my eyes is Microsoft's direct involvement.emphatic wrote:Why would hard-as-nails SDOJ (TATE) be better as a first-time experiment than possible-to-clear Akai Katana (YOKO)?

Yes! I'd love to know the mechanics how to score with those girls! But I hope none of them is a trap...
