Very good. Really strong technically, and the album is more coherent than the previous one. They have added vocals here and there, but they are a minor distraction. Still not in the league of What Burns Never Returns or DC II, but worth checking out.

Circle of Dead Children - Human Harvest

Absolutely the sickest death/grind vocals ever... EVER!

No Age - Nouns - some nice, noisy poppy rock.

Fuck Buttons - Street Horrsing - pretty awesome, still.

Xinlisupreme - Murder Licence - an example of perfect production through over saturation of sound. Like having a panic attack, but you can dance to it.

The Fuck Buttons' album is pretty good isn't it. I like the beats on it, they sound almost jolly in places. Well until the muffled screamo kicks in.

Recently it's been:

Coltrane - My Favourite Things (on repeat over and over)
Stars Of The Lid - ...And Their Refinement Of The Decline (gorgeous drones)
Messiaen - Turangalila Symphonie and L'ascencion
Duke Ellington - a selection of tracks from the 40s that I pulled from one of my box sets

This is great, thanks. At some points it is very similar to one of my favorties: Lync - These are not fall colors.

How come you never hear about European bands? Apart from like, British stuff and Rammstein. Has Techno conquered the whole continent?

Only the warmer climes. The rest has been claimed in the name of Black Metal.

How i wish it was true. It's same idiotic gangsta rap and pop as in the US.

Yeah, I had the idea to form a 'happy' drone band a few years back, but it looks like I've missed the boat now.

My girlfriend saw Fuck Buttons play an in-store gig the other day. Apparently they were awesome but terrifyingly loud :D

Shameless self promotion.

If anyone is in the Manchester area (UK) I'm playing with my band Stray Dog Cafe tonight at the Roadhouse in support of the Silver Apples. Should be fun.

Always love for Zuma but I can only fit so much Neil into one day!

A list of all the Neil that I would want to listen to would pretty much stretch to at least 80% of his output.

In the art of kenjutsu one must be like a dancer with their blade to confuse and destory their opponent in a beautiful display of gore and blood, along with a bit of sadistic laughter and a sarcastic voice that is deceptively sweet.

Picked up a few gems this weekend, vinyl of course:

Boris - Smile (Double LP on Southern Lord, lots of extras and different mixes to the earlier MP3 release. Tasty, rocking and doom in various parts.)

Thee Headcoats - Down Headcotes (Cheap reissue, I realised I needed more Billy Childish.)

United Supreme Council Oastem! Vibe Orchestra (Featuring members of Pole, an excellent freak-folk drone exploration culled from a live set, damn fine)

Stafraenn Hakon - Ventill/Poki (A bit like Sigur Ros but instrumental and a little more electronica-ish. Sounds pretty pleasant on first spin but I'll need to give it some time to see if it has legs. I've read some people really rate it so I'm going to have to put some time in.)

Venetian Snares - Find Candace - Prob his most straight up dirty and nasty album. Brilliant. Also, it has to be commended for having perhaps the most offensive (and almost certainly illegal, especially in Canada lol) front cover I have ever seen.

Nitzer Ebb - Body of Work - If it wasn't for the vocals, I would really dig this band :(

Sabrepulse - Turbo City - A shoe-in for best chiptune album of 2008.

Funny, never heard anyone mention Hakon before, my friend Jeffrey from Secret Eye released an album by him back in 2002 or so.

It was an impulse purchase that I don't regret. I have an excellent record shop reasonably local with a very good stock of doom/drone/punk/experimental and lashings of leftfield pop.

Today I've been falling in love with Joanna Newsom again.
