Hardware differences are really only relevant in terms of which console is best when they're meaningfully different. Compared to what's in a SNES vs a Sega Genesis, this era of consoles are so alike that really, they are very minor differences compared to what console specs used to be like. Case in point: the huge number of cross platform games. Like Ed said, console hardware and specs are so close to PC specs that really, if you've got a gaming rig, you could easily just get the same experience with the PC version of a game. Consoles have to carve out their niche with in different ways like exclusive games, specialized services, etc, and not just rely on "my hardware's better than yours".

30 FPS vs 60 FPS is a very meaningful difference.

That kind of performance difference means the PS4 will be able to run games the Xbone won't. And while a lot of stuff is cross-platform, if we go by the 360/PS3 generation there will also be a lot of stuff that isn't.

While that is true, the ps4 isn't running it at 60fps constant either. It goes down to 45 a lot in the benchmarks I've seen. So the difference between the two isn't necessarily as large.

Not in tomb raider. I'd never play the game on a console in the first place (hell, i'd never play it full stop). But I think in this instance a constant 30fps is much better then one that often fluctuates between 45-60 and often goes down to 30 anyway. Especially if it's going to cause screen tearing (which I wasn't looking for in the video so I don't know if its present or not).

Tomb Raider doesn't tear, it feels fluid, the games responsive and this actually is a game that's been made better than the PC version, read the reviews.

I skipped it last gen and I'm glad I did.

That average is bullshit by the way, I've played up to the first campfire and it dropped a few frames near the crashed plane when looking at it from afar. It (obviously) very much depends on where you are, various people have accused EG of cherrypicking the action bits for worst case and glossing over the fact that much of the exploration is solid 60.

Maybe this is only half the truth - the Xbox One becomes cheaper because the Xbox Two is released ("for 500 bones" - with improved FPS etc. for existing games) - just as the iPhone (1) got cheaper when the iPhone 2 got released ... see speculation earlier in this thread about Xbox adopting hardware refresh cycles similar to Apple in order to to keep the hardware up-to-date without losing money on the manufacture of the current units. I simply didn't expect that they would be brazen enough to do it after only 12 months.

Another possibility is a "download-only" version that drops the optical drive - Xbox must hate paying Sony royalties for Blu-ray capability.

Man, that TR comparison pic is just ugly. Looks like last-gen geometry and texturing overall (imo) and it's hard to believe that the Xbox One version is well optimized.

PS4 version, it's easy to frind frame drops if you pan the camera around in several places in the forest, but theyre hiccups rather than gluts, the overall 'feel' is good and fluid, no tearing either.

Tried the demo stations out for both consoles. I don't like the Xbox one controller as well as the 360 controller. It feels like it's more narrow on the top. I did like the independent rumble for each trigger. Pretty cool idea. The PS4 controller I tried out had the rubber missing on the analog sticks, which just made it feel really crappy. I don't know if someone just ripped off the rubber coating or not, but it looked like it had just already worn down. The PS4 triggers did feel better though I guess. The touch pad seems really gimmicky and pointless. I'm pretty sure that I like the Xbox one controller better than the PS4 controller. I think the Steam controller will probably be better than any of them though. In fact I think the Steam console could be a real dark horse in the console war.

They created an gamer who is stuck with a giant X-box, where most of the games have been ported to PC, and those that have not will never be noticed because it is not a GCN. The X-box ( original ) has been proven to have suckie, and I mean suckie graphics compared to the GCN, and almost every port to PC, is better. However since most people do not own NT, and only 9X, they are stuck with the X-box.

Created an anti-NT, and anti-privacy trusting program users group. Which OS do I use, Windows 9X or Windows NT?

Because everybody has a Hotmail, but nobody uses MSN search, but stated that BING is really MSN search. But it is filtered, just like Hotmail?????

They want you to buy whatever OS, and do nothing but use the OS, to buy their crap software. No real internet usage, nothing fun. I had a bunch of compressed files, and the entire OS ( the newer NT ) damaged all of my files on purpose.

They wish people would stop using duckgogo, Google, or Jeebs, and use their crappy untrusted MSN/Bing.

If they layoff a bunch of people, who cares. They allowed security flaws to stay in previous OSes, and invent new ones everyday.

Yet another post of yours attacking me while adding nothing to the topic at hand. NB: I did post the news of Sony selling Vaio (to Japan Industrial Partners and not Lenovo, btw), which really has little to do with this topic right here; in case you didn't notice and simply posted here by mistake please allow me to point out that it happens to be "PS4 / Xbox One console war".

Sony's gaming segment is profitable. Reminder:

Losses were made in the devices segment (=TVs) which they are turning into a subsidiary, and in the PC business, which Sony is selling.

The sum total of Microsoft's Xbox venture still is negative after 13 years, and even during the years it generated positive results, the return on investement was much lower than Microsoft's other divisions. Which is why investors would like for Microsoft to get rid of Xbox. Sony investors on the other hand are not asking Sony to sell Playstation.

It's a shame because Sony make some of the best TVs, but they're not the cheapest. I'm planning to buy a new TV when my yearly bonus comes through, whatever their top of the line 1080 set is now. Previous flagship has lasted me six years or so, in fact I'm only upgrading because I suspect going forward the subsiduary will falter (already stated to be concentrating on 4k...)

Sony TV's were just Samsung's inside. So buy a Samsung (they're cheaper). Sony's costs in the electronic consumer market were way too high: trying to use the brand to justify the extra margin. The problem was the strong Yen boosting manufacturing and export costs, coupled with trying to claw back endless years of losses. The writing was on the wall for this one, you only needed to follow a little business news from year to year to see that some of those divisions had to fold or the shareholders were going to eat the CEO.

It's better for them in the long run. More resource for profitable gaming divisions, less battles to try and wage on multiple fronts. I feel so for all those people made unemployed though, very harsh - but I'm sure they knew it was coming.
