Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Both gscartsw_lite and gcompsw units are here, I'm currently assembling and testing everything (all good so far) and the orders will be opened as planned, January 2 10:00am EST.

I don't expect gcompsw to sell out fast, previous batch I struggled to sell the remaining units, I have a lot this time.chromium wrote:2am my timesuperg wrote:Both gscartsw_lite and gcompsw units are here, I'm currently assembling and testing everything (all good so far) and the orders will be opened as planned, January 2 10:00am EST.Lucky I'm off work

Sorry, new to this forum and I don't see the ability to "search within a thread".
I just got my gscartsw and I can't get 480p mode to work on my PS2. The basic manual switcher the gscartsw had replaced worked fine with 480p games on the PS2.
I searched the site too for a manual or something to refer to but couldn't find anything either.

Awesome, that's 7am PST for me.

Looking forward to the race.

All gscartsw_lite units are tested and assembled. All gcompsw units are tested and being assembled. Everything is on track for January 2 10am EST.

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
I'm sorry if this has already been answered but, is it at all possible to use a sync on green cable for PS2 to get 480p output with gscart lite? Will that cable also work for other resolutions or are there two different cables one for regular sync and another for RGsB or are they one in the same such as the ones sold by retro access?
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Happy New Year All!!!! Really looking forward to reserving a GSCART LITE Switcher. Will there be a separate thread or email link etc... to get on the list for these? Thanks,
Wes

No, no email or link, you'll just have to be ready on the date superg announced and place your order directly on his website. He will make a post and update his main post when they're back in stock.

Happy New Year everyone, I hope everyone has a great 2018!

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
SoG won't be detected by the switch. The easiest thing would be to mod your PS2 to always output RGBS.The Spaniard wrote:I'm sorry if this has already been answered but, is it at all possible to use a sync on green cable for PS2 to get 480p output with gscart lite? Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Will be there any gscartsw v3.4 or new lite version which has a 3,5mm audio jack being built into the unit to order in the future?
I have missed the opportunity to buy a gscartsw v3.4 when it still was available and now I am in desperate need of such a neat device

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
I don't plan to manufacture v3.4 anymore. If you need separate audio from the switch you can easily get a SCART breakout adapter / cable and use one of the two SCART outputs.driftminister wrote:Will be there any gscartsw v3.4 or new lite version which has a 3,5mm audio jack being built into the unit to order in the future?

In fact v3.4 will go open source soon.

I also have a PVM next to my Framemeister setup, so the VGA port would also have been a nice feature for me. Will this VGA port come again in future versions?
Another question, are you also going to plan on building a switcher with more inputs like the 16-port hydra later on?
Thanks for your time & support
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Sorry to keep harping on the PS2 SoG issue and apologies if this has been explained before, but why was the feature to default to a certain port if no sync was detected not included in the lite? It's a great solution that is sorely lacking on the lite, just curious as to why it's not on there.
I really want to buy both the gscartsw and the gcompsw as I believe they are the highest quality and most convenient solutions out there. However two things give me serious pause and longing for a future redesigned version. First is obviously the thing I mentioned above. It's the only thing that makes me question buying a gscartsw. Second, I really wish there were one or two more inputs on the gcompsw, especially because of the SCART situation with PS2. You simply can't fit a GameCube, XBOX, PS2, PSP and a Wii on the gcomspw at the same time, and that is a problem if you want to avoid using SCART for PS2. If the gscartsw could display the PS2's SoG, this wouldn't be much of an issue. I also wish the gcompsw had two outputs like the gscartsw so I could output to both my OSSC and my PVM, but that is much less of an issue.

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
VGA port is for computer electronics mainly, most vga monitors have issues with low resolution signals which are output by old consoles. It's a pain to handle all this and to separate vertical sync so I don't plan to support it. Simply it introduces more problems than it solves.driftminister wrote:Ok thanks for the quick info.superg wrote:I don't plan to manufacture v3.4 anymore. I will work on SoG this year, just don't know what device it would be. For now the reccomendation is to mod your ps2, it's very easy. You can daisy chain gscartsw's and get any ports count you need.TestType wrote:Sorry to keep harping on the PS2 SoG issue and apologies if this has been explained before, but why was the feature to default to a certain port if no sync was detected not included in the lite? Thanks for all the info.
I will then order the actual gscartw_lite model when its available to buy. Where is the best place to check for the next availibility to order? This thread, gretrostuff.com or somewhere else?

This thread, mainly, and then to gretrostuff.com to place your purchase. If you really want one, I'd have two tabs open checking both tomorrow.driftminister wrote:Thanks for all the info.

How often are new batches of these switches put up for sale? As much as I'd like to get one, I won't have enough to spend by the time this batch is likely sold

I had a quick look but couldn't really find much in terms of this PS2 RGB mod, anyone have a link to such a mod.
Down below you say you will work on the SoG, do you have a rough timeframe for when this will be?

This year, when exactly - I don't know.
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Thanks for the reply superg. When you say work on it, do you mean a new iteration of the gscarsw, a hardware addon or a firmware upgrade for the existing lite? I'm not sure if the lite is firmware upgradable, but I did see it mentioned on the page for the gcompsw.superg wrote:I will work on SoG this year, just don't know what device it would be. Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Green is not routed to Altera thus it's impossible to do it with mere firmware upgrade.TestType wrote:Thanks for the reply superg. I have a breakout cable PCB designed which converts SoG to proper RGBS (including sync removal from Green).

Actually I would like to order 2 gscartsw_lite switches to hook up my console setup, I would appreciate if I don't need to wait until the next batch (of course who wouldn't

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Everything will be available tomorrow at gretrostuff.com, I usually post here about it the moment I enable order buttons. The last gscartsw_lite batch was available for 1-2 days, this one is bigger. I'm not worried about gcompsw because the last time I struggled to sell the remaining units and this time I have a plenty of them. You should be able to get yours.driftminister wrote:Alright thanks, I will do that.Maverick wrote:This thread, mainly, and then to gretrostuff.com to place your purchase. Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Silly question, but could you daisy chain 2 compsw ? If you kept the output from one into the input of the second short? As someone mentioned above you cannot connect all the consoles generally associated with comp as best output (GameCube, XBOX, PS2, PSP and a Wii ) into a single unit. It's only a minor inconvenience and doesn't pertain to me because I only want a compsw for Xbox, Ps2, PSP, Wii (since Gameccube comp cables are astronomically high). Just curious if there would be any complications with doing a chain of two compsw. Thanks again, setting my alarm for 10am

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Yes you can, both gscartsw and gcompsw can be indefinitely daisy chained (of course there might be quality implications if you chain 10 switches in a rowKavas wrote:Silly question, but could you daisy chain 2 compsw ? I see that we're up to version 1.5 on the gscartsw_lite. Is there a changelog somewhere? I'd be interested to know what changed between 1.0 and this verison. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, as easy as that mod may be I'd prefer not and will wait until you have developed a solution for SoG for PS2.superg wrote: This year, when exactly - I don't know.
Will be keeping an eye out for that.
