Publisher is Aksys (as Thunderforce guessed):

Looks like Mega Black Label will be on the disc. Due out in the Summer, according to this post.

Unless I missed something the wording on that seems a bit ambiguous, but just the fact that it'll be available to us in some form is good news. If the publisher is equally devoted to keeping the original experience intact in other ways, then this is one we should hype to our friends just as hard as we hyped Futari.

They list it under "Deathsmiles' key features", everything else on that list is definitely on the disc, and they don't say something like "Mega Black Label expansion available as DLC!". So all signs point to it being on the disc, and nothing indicates it will be DLC.

In retrospect, I'm kinda surprised that the original JPN DS release didn't lock all the same things originally locked on the PCB.

They could have slowly rolled out inexpensive DLC for the extra characters and stage, heading into MBL.

Sold :D Just for having megablack label on physical format and even if I don't own an US X360. Anyway I hope it still being region free between NTSC-U/J systems.

GP or a mod should add info about the localization to the thread title, this is going to be big news.
I'm already picking it up from the shelf and paying for it in my head. Then going home and writing in my blog about how awful the IGN review of it is. The year's just getting started and I can already tell it's going to be a great one.

Yeah i sure hope for at least a US/EU region free release, so i can convince more people to buy it ;)
I'll import it anyway since i have a region free hacked eggsbawks.
English dialogue and included MBL is enough reason to buy it.
Haha it will probably be 20$ two weeks after the release.

Glad to see this officially announced. Now I can harass my friends into buying it more easily because this won't be a pricey import.

This game is going to be region locked if the DLC is on the disc, to prevent reverse importing by japanese players. I'm also trying to generate some hype for the game on a mainstream forum, and it doesn't appear to be working.

As I just posted elsewhere, I'm not wholly convinced MBL is on disc when they've got a few other facts on their blurb a bit off (like saying there are 5 characters but not including Sakura in the list, and that stuff happens when you pick Lv3 four times when it's actually five). It could just be they're still getting their stuff together and got a few signals crossed for this very early announcement.

Still double-dipping.

Tipped Kotaku off and they acted quickly. I want to see this get a ridiculous amount of press.

Keep in mind, if this does include Black Label on the disc, there will be an entirely different achievement list, as Microsoft's policy is that you cannot release a game that has more than 1000 gamerscore out of the box. Anything above 1000 HAS to include DLC. This would be the first time in history that this happened (different achievements for different regions,) so I'd say its not very likely right now. Also still no mention of price, this ought to be interesting.

Does that matter? It was at least DLC somewhere, so it should be just like GOTY versions of games that throw in DLC.

It does matter, because upon first release in any certain country, it has to contain 1000 points on the disc. DLC has to be separate. Once DLC has already hit the marketplace in that country, then they can release it as a disc. There might also be a policy about having achievements the same in every region as well, but that's not entirely confirmed. It is confirmed from a developer that Microsoft will refuse certification for production of a game if it has more than 1000 gamerscore on the disc at release or if the original 1000 points is not obtainable out of the box without purchase of other content.

Aksys, PAL compabile please, then i'll be happy

i suggest to add (US Localization) in the title thread, just like the one of Futari, so people will notice it [and start with dramas  ]

neoseeker and destructoid both explicitly state in their articles that the MBL DLC will be included on the disc. So, now we have to argue about achievements, the validity of the above articles, and region locking.

I trust neither of those, so I'll wait for a final verdict.

Same as above - I see both those articles as interpreting the original slightly-flawed release on Aksys's website. I would think it's much too soon for even Aksys to know exactly what can be included on the disc anyway.

There are now 7 articles about the US release, and all of them pretty much say the same thing. Of note is that siliconera, who appears to have insider info did not mention the MBL at all. Looking at the aksys announcement, I can spot two inconsistencies: they say 5 characters but don't mention sakura, and forget to mention lvl999. Now things are much less clear.

How about they include the DLC, but you still have to buy a key for it like Futari 1.01 so we can get some more nagging and bitching, as that's so much fun.

Am I the only one who finds this an absolutely horrible practice? Sorry, you can't publish your game, you have too much gamerscore.

Kiken wrote:I ran into a rather odd glitch last night while playing... I had started out playing the game on one of my SD CRTs throguh S-Vid but later switched to my HD TV through VGA. After the switch, the game's main menu and wallpaper were shifted about a third of the screen to the left, leaving a black space on the right of the screen. The loading messages were all bordering the left edge of the screen. The actual playfield though was centered correctly.

I tried to do the tutorial counter glitch but couldn't get it to work (I might have been interupting it at the wrong time). Also.. has anyone tried the Volcano stage boss upper-left corner glitch (after the boss's first attack wave, it shoots out a series of flame columns which you normally need to shoot to prevent from hitting the top of the screen... but if you simply sit in the upper left corner of the screen and do nothing, the attack goes right through you)?
I just got this game and I am experiencing the same thing. Although I used the standard av cables first (looked like shit) and then switched to hdmi, but now the screen is off to the left of the tv. Anywho, what am I doing wrong here. There seems to be no in game resolution options. how much of the screen should it take up in xbox mode?

Oh, well, it says on the AKSYS site that it's a key feature. I would assume it comes with it.

Anyway, that piece of artwork on Destructoid was really nice. Where's that from?

I couldn't have thought of a better publisher for this game.

God damn, my local arcade had this and they recently took it out for some fucking gay ass adventure game with samurai.

I only got to play it 2 times, managed to defeat 2 whole stages, but got owned on the complete challenges.
