Well I'll be there Tuesday. I'm going to get the 1CC on DDP and play some (hopefully multiplayer) Darius.

I made the trip down yesterday and found the new game to be everything I hoped it would be. The awesome cab, the seismic bass, the vibrating seat and general epicness makes this one a total winner in my eyes. Del is right - those of us within striking distance of the Casino are lucky beasts indeed. I recommend everybody who hasn't played it get down there before some fool knackers it!

I'll be there on tuesday evening in a suit and jacket HZT, look out for the fat guy from the darius burst pics of you're there before 4.20, which is roughly when I'll arrive.

Cool, it'll be nice to meet you at last. I'll be there already, look for the hipster making an angry face at DDP.

I'm curious how you guys are finding Mushihimesama (if it still gets attention despite Darius Burst) now that it's been around for a while :) Has anyone been successful in cracking Maniac mode? Have you broken the buttons yet with the frenetic tapping this mode requires? :o

I've cleared maniac a few times - the last boss is pretty fun and not too difficult. Because the button mashing is so specific and ridiculous I'm not that bothered about playing it for score (surprise).

I still think it has some of the best patterns to dodge through though - it's just without wanting to score well there's not much incentive to play it anymore. I'm still useless at original mode, somehow I cleared it once but usually my run ends on stage 3.

I think the engineer is back this week so hopefully there will be something else to play - whilst the rest of you are all upstairs on the Darius Burst machine

My problem Aliquantic is that I always go after work when I'm tired, so I tend to be rather rubbish.

I managed to lose 6 credits to mushi in 30 minutes last time I was there, which prompted a rage quit and move upstairs, and the pictures of darius burst with me in them.

It's really good fun though, I can only mirror what Dan says, dodging the patterns feels really satisfying in mushi.

Some guy's tweeted videos of a couple of smashed up shops at the north end of Tottenham Court Road and I'm finding I feel more worried about rioters near Casino than near my flat.

I was thinking of your comments last night as I was walking around last night surveying the damage. It was pretty bad, but nothing like as bad as other areas, and not as bad as the press made it look. There were a few troublemakers causing a lot of damage, but most of the crowds were peaceful spectators from what I could tell. I felt very safe in Hackney, and I live right by Mare Street where all the action was.

Also, bare in mind it also happened in Oxford Street, Edgeware Road, Islington and many other places most wouldn't consider too dangerous to visit.

Also, the sense of community in Hackney last night was fantastic. Everyone looking out for each other, strangers chatting in the street. Everyone is out clearing up today, to the point there's more volunteers than there are jobs to do.

I haven't seen one tweet encouraging rioting. I've seen dozens encouraging people to help clean up.

For every one rioter there's thousands of us being peaceful and working together! We'll get through it!

It's crazy, and the very few who have suffered have enjoyed some horrid things, but it's no DMZ (unless you count the fact that it hasn't yet been bad enough to even get the army in0.

I assume so, but since they haven't bothered to set up an official website with useful information like that on, we can't be certain.
I'm pretty sure it will be open as normal though, and I'm just about to hop on the tube to get there. Hopefully I'll see you in a bit!

This is what I posted on NeoEmpire:
Its the Fatherless Fools that used to cause trouble and nothing else at the TROC, causing it to close down at least once a week. Plus many more of the same of course.

The Govt is ultimately to blame, in my view. Having a 'housing priority for single parent mothers' for soooo long that those fatherless kids have now grown up into teenagers.
No father to keep them indoors etc.
The Govt should realise their massive error and switch to the opposite policy ->Housing benefits for married couples only. Russia used to do this in the 80s and huge amounts of Russians got married.
You reap what you sow.

Tonight Hackney is very calm. No police, no rioters, no mess, no noise, kids playing in the street, sunbathers in the park, couples having wine and a meal outside a hip cafe. A lovely trouble free summer's evening so far...

Casino was open as usual this evening, and the surrounding area was very tranquil just over an hour ago when I left - nothing out of the ordinary at all.
Had a great time on Darius Burst fighting Mecha Magikarp with HZT, Chi and Illyrian!

There's been so much bullshit speculation, lies and misinformation in the press and on Twitter about these riots. I was sent home early last night as it was reported by the Guardian the supermarket on my road was being ransacked and the street was under siege. I got back pretty nervous only to find no damage at all, and a very normal friendly day.

Reports about large riots last night in Brent Cross, Cricklewood, Kilburn and Edgware all seem to be untrue too. I think trouble was almost non-existent.

People (especially on Twitter) seem to be reveling in over-hyping a situation that (when it is true) is horrible enough not to need stirring up. It only causes more fear, and we all know what that leads to!

The best part about the whole evening was me and JDE finding a "safe" spot on the stupid Magicarp boss, only for us to find out it was less a safe spot, and more a sad spot. Also I refuse to take that fight seriously as long as it keeps making those retarded sounds all the time.

I'm glad to hear you guys are alright, I've only got third-hand information so things sounded like the end of the world, "hey aren't you glad you're out of London now it's like war over there" style... the French media reporting is even more dramatic than the Guardian and such too :|

And yeah, I can't imagine Mushi Maniac to be very fun without autofire buttons :s Why didn't Casino get Mushi 1.5 instead of Darius Burst :P

Yeah, if only.

I don't know how Casino got Darius Burst, but I'd be surprised if they paid for it - must have been some deal. BUT, it's working out because Darius Burst really is a multiplayer game and is good for the arcade. Though it's not my cup of tea I can't deny it must be earning some cash with the amount of 4 player shenanigans going on. Seems like they got a number of things right with this - unlocking levels in chronicle mode for sure - If only the graphics and game play weren't so bland.

If Cave wants to stay in the arcade market they could learn a few lessons from this.

The Darius Burst cab at Casino was a location test unit due to be installed at the Trocadero. With that closed, Casino owner John (who is very close with Taito) secured the machine.

So if it's a location test machine does that mean the arcade still pays for it? Or is it a case of Taito "donating" it for a lower price. Also, I guess a location test version means it's not the finished game (?).

Anyhow, might drop by tomorrow if I'm in town.

If he's that close, tell him to get some Egrets installed. Or salvage some of Troc's leftover Egrets. :p

I decided to have a proper try at the button mashing counter building thing on Mushi Maniac today, my score shot up but I kept running into bullets as I concentrated on tapping at a consistent rate. Then I decided to ignore scoring and my score shot up even more than before and I beat my previous best - which now I think about it I also got when I decided to ignore scoring.

So I think I'm going to give up on trying to learn that mode properly and enjoy just dodging the bullets. Dan-style all the way.

I also still don't understand Darius no matter how much CHI explains it to me. I do suck at every hori I've ever played and this one is extra hori, maybe that's it. I think I'll start playing with Origin, because seriously I don't even want to come up with clever tactical uses of the laser I just want to shoot giant fish in the face.

Have you tried just chaining the stages well and trying to pointblank things to build up the counter with W Power? If you can survive properly (boy it's easy to die stupidly in that game!), you should be able to get half-decent scores, and you can worry about the midboss counter milking later :) (And milking everything else even later, but midbosses are critical obviously) I'm a chaining addict though, so of course I liked Mushi Maniac when I could play it :P

Unrelated but does any of you guys play fighting games? I'm thinking of trying to learn a bit of SSFIV (casually of course) while I'm away along with my Blazblue.
