I hate the word "tropes" and the amount of times it's been used on the forum lately.

I've noticed this as well, it seems like everyone is using it lately.

No, it's not inaccurate emulation in this case:
Yahoo didn't care about Upcoming's users—the community that created the data. Yahoo's approach turned out to be completely backwards. The value of the the company was determined by the index itself, rather than how the index was built—which is to say, by the community.

I've run every sort of anti-malware, checked the firewall but nothing can fix this. Changing the browser doesn't help either, both Explorer and Firefox can't access it.

My brother messed with all sort of configurations on my PC and almost knocked out the network here, but he managed to fix it. I then restart the computer and the problem returns.

I searched for a solution but can't find any. Very annoying :?
get youself malwarebytes and Microsoft TechNet's (I think) RootkitRevealer, maybe

Oh yeah, on the topic of TVTropes, I just realized that in fact I do have a TV Tropes allergy now!

Whenever I see something linked as an example of a trope, I immediately suspect that it is likely to be of no great value or enjoyment to myself. The last thing I got because of TV Tropes was Bill Willingham's Coventry; suffice to say it was disgusting and nauseating to me - I was pleasantly surprised at how much.

I try to pretend as much as possible that TV Tropes does not exist. The internet does not make it easy.

There's one dude who always comments on my blog and talks about them (seemingly negatively). It prompted a discussion where I linked to a lot of anti-TV Tropes material I found. here's the topic (the link-filled post is in the comments. It's not hard to find).

Relatedly Tropers are THE Entitlement Culture. I once got into a discussion about them on Digitpress... and all the Tropers there threw a fit and came to the topic and basically tried to shout me into submission with arguments that basically amounted to "We should be able to say what we want and NO ONE should be able to complain about it or badmouth us!"

Unrelated note:

When you feel like you're forced to beat a hard game just to diffuse "you hate it because you can't beat it" criticism.

Then I can't find it and feel bad for my murderous intent. :[

Actually, while I'm not working, here's a great story: back when I first moved in, a pigeon flew down my chimney. Had to throw a beach towel over it and hustle it out the front door like I was the fucking pope. Did you know that if your chimney isn't correctly outfitted against birds they can nest up there, potentially trapping carbon monoxide in the house and killing you? At least, that's what the guy who installed the birdproofing defense mechanism on the chimney said. I'm from a tropical region so I didn't know any of this shit. We don't even have pigeons where I'm from, or chimneys. You'd think it's obvious but I read the other day some poor old SOB died this way here in the UK. :[ Perhaps this post may save a life?

Yes - a pigeon in a sniper tank means a whole lot of potential friendly casualties!

Perfect strangers adding me as a contact on Youtube. Seriously? Never crossed words before, and suddenly we are "contacts"? F that. The size of their E-penis is none of my concern.

Yeah, what the hell is up with that? When someone subscribes to my channel, I visit theirs to see if they upload anything of interest to me and subscribe to their channel if they do. But these "contacts", what is up?

Something similar is happening to my poor excuse of a blog :? Random people on wordpress "like" or "follow" posts/the blog itself and when checking out who these guys are they're nothing but totally unrelated to anything I've ever put up on there.
I can only imagine they find some kind of bizarre enjoyment from finding random blogs, follow them, and then hope they will get more traffic in return.

Also, speaking of youtube, I feel like punching people everytime they say "aight, don't forget to comment like and subscribe " It's as bad as people begging others to check out their gallery over at DA/similar sites. I will comment and possibly subscribe if I find your videos interesting, which makes sense I think?- outright telling me to do so actually makes me less willing to. :|

I think that's actually sort of true. Enormous handling + shipping costs have killed most sweet deals I've been able to find on YAJ. Of course, I talking normal things like games/books, not PCBs or X6800 games like you mentioned later down. :?

god damnit, why can't Mozilla leave well enough alone

try Ctrl+J in Firefox now. You can't toggle a simple downloads window anymore, it sticks. And now it's called "library" and has a bunch of completely useless tabs. They've smashed it in with a bunch of other things, probably to "integrate" it, but have made a hash out of it

You can revert back to the old one by changing browser.download.useToolkitUI to True in about:config.

Aha, sorted out now

Now, if only I could find the Macventure games in their original formats...finding no sources at all, download or originals, outside a wildly optimisting $4000+ Mac XL auction on eBay that happens to include Deja Vu (which I want to see, along with the not-on-NES sequel, Deja Vu 2).

Here's another one:

When you ask for recommendations, and the only ones you get are ones you've already seen.
Relatedly: When you specifically say "I've seen X and I want more like it" and people proceed to name X, as if they didn't notice you mentioned it already.
Also relatedly: When people ignore your specifications and just throw names out there.

Soundclash time! Throw on some really abrasive 240BPM gabber REALLY loud and go out for a few hours.

Bonus points if you have big sound system and set it to 1 track on repeat. 8)
