That's one crazy poster. Looks like it's inspired by the most popular action movies, and even a few non-action movies like Dragnet. They definitely took the throw everything into a blender approach with that one.

Is that the PAL version? I don't remember anything that horrible in the US, and I've followed that game for a while. The Japanese version features some pretty hot guys, I have to admit. Nothing but muscles and tank tops.

Hard game. I owned the PCB for a while. Only got to 4-2 on 1 credit.

I think that's the artwork for some of the computer versions, including the Amiga version.

Everything Gitaroo Man is so good that I can't decide what to paste in. Mitsuru Nakamura is the artist's name, apparently.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I was thinking the same thing. The star needs to be upside down though. They chickened out on that one.

Wasn't that a joke "cover" making fun of how Japanese game artwork was commonly reinterpreted for the US market?

My favourite Green Beret artwork so far.

Although without a knife in sight, it can be considered false advertisement.

Damn, dude on the right doesn't pass the KONTORA hawtness test! Guess he must've been off on a porno shoot that day.

I really like the FDS cover art ("The Red Fortress"). Nice clean art with lots of energy and personality. I hate the FDS though. :[

^ rugged stuff. Looks almost like Bill Duke there!

PC-88 Silpheed, professional as all hell.

Image

Reminds me of X68000 Phalanx and, tangentially, Assault Suits Valken. I like it when fantastic war machines are depicted "realistically" with ground crew, in hangars, etc. Nice contrast to the more typical depiction of warbirds in full flight with all arms blazing. Can't recall any pure console STGs employing this dryly industrial style, offhand.

Now this is a boxart I wouldn't be ashamed showcasing (reminds me of the first Suikoden cover and times when well-drawn eyes weren't uncommon in Japanese "video game artwork").
