"All of our posts today are confirmation that we're releasing TECHNIKA TUNE in North America this summer."
I knew ordering one of these was a good idea. Purchase justified.

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Technika is releasing a lot sooner than I thought it would. Not sure if I'll be able to afford a Vita in just a couple months, especially since there's only a couple games for it that I want to play. Technika is a system seller for me though, as long as it turns out well.

Please let's not turn this forum into gamefaqs. "to release" is a transitive verb. [someone] releases [something]. [something] is released. Games don't release, they are released.

Skype has just been released for PS Vita (free download). Either of PS Vita's cameras (front or back) can be used for video chatting.

The new Project Diva game is coming out on August 30th as well. Looks like the Vita's going to have two good rhythm games this summer.

Soul Sacrifice needs its own thread, to be honest.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
12.299 Vitas were sold in Japan last week, apparently partly thanks to Ciel Nosurge (an adventure / communication game by Gust) , of which 33k were sold. Ciel doesn't look like the type of "game" that would appeal to most westerners (visual novel-like).
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Ciel nosurge is by Gust, a company known for making buggy games. This one has episodic content on a monthly basis (600 yen per month), I can't see it being very popular, even in Japan.Friendly wrote:12.299 Vitas were sold in Japan last week, apparently partly thanks to Ciel Nosurge (an adventure / communication game by Gust) , of which 33k were sold. Re: The PS Vita Thread
Hello everyone!
I read through this entire thread and I have several questions (i'm too lazy to google them all).
1) Is the PSVita region free? Am i able to play european, japanese and us games that i bought on the same device?
2) Will i be able to play PSP games? i would love to buy ghouls and ghosts and several others ( i think chrono trigger was one too).
3) Does the Vita charge fast?
4) Am i able to surf youtube and porn web sites on this console? How does the input of cahracters work? how do i type in a URL? with the screen or the buttons?
5) Will i be able to playback music files i put on a SD card/ the vita itself? what formats does is it support? Does it support FLAC/ APE and OGG? I have excellent headphones - how is the music playback quality of the vita?
6) Are there good games for the Vita? I like puzzle games, shmups, platformers (i heard something about rayman) and the occasional (J)RPG.
7) Does a protector overlay exist to protect screen/ the entire system from scratches?

2) Yes, but you have to buy them online on PSN and download them (because Vita has no drive to play UMD discs)
3) Yes
4) Yes
5) Unfortunately, Vita has (overpriced) propietary memory cards and does not support SD. But yes, you can put your own music on those. However, Vita does not support OGG / APE / FLAC, only mp3, wav and wma as far as i know.
6) Yes

You are welcome. Forgot to add to 4) that you use an on-screen keyboard, just like with other touch screen devices.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Note that the Vita doesn't currently support YouTube and Flash so your online browsing may be limited. Yes, that's made many people unhappy. No, Sony doesn't have a release date or even confirmation on implementing those features.
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Sorry, I had no idea it doesn't support flash.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
I must say Vita handles PSP games with style. Not only do they look much better on Vita`s OLED than they ever did on the PSP, but you can also enable bilinear filtering and assign the d-pad and face buttons to the second analog stick. The latter is extremely useful for those PSP games that had you control the camera with the d-pad or face buttons. Monster Hunter and MGS: Peace Walker are practically new experiences now. I downloaded Monster Hunter Freedom Unite almost immediately after having bought a Vita and made a new character. Been playing it daily ever since.
There`s a very handful program for the PS3 called Ad-Hoc Party. It enables online play for those PSP games that natively only support Ad-Hoc multiplayer and it works just as well with the Vita as it does with the PSP.

Also if you buy the PS Vita with Wi-Fi + 3G option, you'd buy the 3G service on a monthly basis. I asked a Best Buy associate about that Vita 3G subscription issue and he answered promptly. It's a nice option to have if you don't have access to a Wi-Fi hotspot in the area when travelling.

Is about to be released in the west (in 2 weeks), it got very positive reviews; could be the best Vita exclusive.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Man, I'm really bummed about the weak reception for the Vita. I was planning on buying a Vita in the next month, and now I'm thinking I've got to take a wait-and-see approach. I'm mainly interested in the smaller market games like srpgs and pinball, and I'm definitely worried that smaller developers are going to bail. If nothing else, it just seems like I ought to wait to see if there's going to be a price reduction. I've played so much Disgaea that I'm not really looking for more right now. Can't really see hurrying into it just to play... Lumines? Or maybe Pure Chess?
Re: The PS Vita Thread
Walmart is going to offer a $50 gift card with a Vita purchase very soon. Keep an eye out for that.professor ganson wrote:If nothing else, it just seems like I ought to wait to see if there's going to be a price reduction.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
Thanks for that! Most of the used Vitas I'm finding are $50 cheaper than new ones. Obviously, I'd much rather have a new one for $200.

Re: The PS Vita Thread
I have to say, my opinion with the Vita was the same as the PSP, it's overpriced, it lacks on the software front etc etc etc... then I got my hands on one. Wow is all I can say. The hardware is fucking awesome, there's no other way to describe it. It may lack games, but for now I think Everybody's Golf, Rayman Origins, WipeOut 2048, Metal Slug, GTA Chinatown Wars, MotorStorm RC and Speedball Evolution should keep me going. Not bad, for lacking games. Oh, and there's the criminally underappreciated LocoRoco. I am rather pleased with my purchase to say the least.

I`d also like to add that the selection of PSP games on PSN is simply great(thought still misses quite a few titles I would like to see there). Ys I-II Chronicles, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys Seven, Metal Slug XX, ClaDun(Classic Dungeon) 1-2, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Patapon 1-3 etc. So much great stuff.
