cave please not forced filters again.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I'm so hyped now that we have screens it shouldn't be too far off. Definitely hoping for a proper scoreboard complete with letter entry etc. I'd be a little surprised though if an arcade res mode will be present, but we'll see.

Probably still be about 6 months. Surely it'll be a good 2-3 months once the pre-order listings go up?chempop wrote:I'm so hyped now that we have screens it shouldn't be too far off. It's not a filter, it's using different (higher res) assets. I reckon it'll look fine in motion.matrigs wrote:srsly i hope you can switch off those filters.

i'm a bit concerned hooking it up to a low-res cab. i loved the fact that in most ports you could disablebcass wrote:It's not a filter, it's using different (higher res) assets. I reckon it'll look fine in motion.matrigs wrote:srsly i hope you can switch off those filters.

most of the filters and have a pretty arcade perfect picture. on a hi-res cab or lcd it will look pretty
awesome i suppose.
well as these are redrawn (rendered ?) elements i guess that this might actually not happen.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
They've had HD graphics in most of their ports, you can prob. just pick arcade mode and have the graphics look exactly like the arcade.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
If you're concerned about hooking an Xbox 360 game up to a low-res cab for the authentic arcade look, you should consider getting the actual arcade PCB. I don't buy a car if I want to ride a bicycle, either.matrigs wrote:i'm a bit concerned hooking it up to a low-res cab. i loved the fact that in most ports you could disable

That being said, I don't see how it's going to make a significant difference on a low-res setup (let alone look worse), since the X360 can't display resolutions below 480p, and the high-res assets will inevitably be downscaled, anyway. One thing's for sure: it's not going to look like the real PCB. Get over it already.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
They stopped putting in the strictly low-res arcade modes a while back (neither DFK nor Akai Katana has the option).Udderdude wrote:They've had HD graphics in most of their ports, you can prob. just pick arcade mode and have the graphics look exactly like the arcade.
I think the problem with the screen-shot they used is that it's from level 3 (where the whole stage is one large insect that you take apart bit by bit). With the older games, Cave just 're-capture' (as it were) the sprites at higher resolutions but leave the backgrounds in low-res and pixel double/triple them. When you're dealing with a stage that's essentially one giant ass sprite made of background tiles, the contrast becomes a bit more apparent.
At least it looks much cleaner than the PS2 port.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
The way Cave's latest ports have been going (AK, MMP/PS), letter entry will be for online leaderboard only, as they don't believe anyone plays these games competitively offline. But one can hope.chempop wrote:Definitely hoping for a proper scoreboard complete with letter entry etc.

Very true, much better than the interlaced crap of the PS2 port. I'm looking forward to playing the highres port on my WindyII.Kiken wrote:At least it looks much cleaner than the PS2 port.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Looks pretty damn ugly. I'll wait for gameplay footage, but so far I think I'll stick with the PS2 version.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Yeah, just get a PCB or settle for the 360 version if you like to go that route. The real arcade versions look a lot better than the 360 arcade versions anyway.moozooh wrote:If you're concerned about hooking an Xbox 360 game up to a low-res cab for the authentic arcade look, you should consider getting the actual arcade PCB. Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
well anything is better than the ps2 port.
i played mushi on mame for a while with soft 15khz on a crt and it looked absolutely amazing and nearly arcade perfect.
well i'm taking whatever cave throws on me.

Ooo, this looks way worse than the PS2 version (especially when you use the de-interlace patch). I seriously hope they include a filter or display mode that makes it look more like lo-res.

It won't look anywhere near that sharp and "edgy".
Those shots are almost like they've been composed in an editing suite rather than being taken from a direct feed of the game.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
There's a little JPEG overcompression going on in the image but I have no doubt it's from the actual game. Stills from Futari 360 mode look pretty much exactly like this.
As people have already said, it looks a lot different when in motion. I'm not seeing what's so bad about the still in the first place, though. It's exactly what every other Cave 360 port looks like.

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
What the hell is all the bitching about? Sure it doesn't look like the arcade PCB (see how I don't say AS GOOD AS), but it looks much better than the PS2 port and I'm sure it will look even better in-game.

This forum is so amazing.
1.5 is counterstoppable really early: "Why do you care, stop whining. Be glad you might get to play it!"
The port has high resolution: "Fuck this! Shit game, not buying!"

I plan to buy it whatever they do as long as it runs on my console, but I think it's too early to start this thread's region-locking argument.

It'll definitely be region locked. That's not based on anything other than my sage-like intuition.MR_Soren wrote:I plan to buy it whatever they do as long as it runs on my console, but I think it's too early to start this thread's region-locking argument.
I intend to buy it (and maybe the LE if it's not stupidly priced) and complain about it profusely on this forum.

Good god thats ugly.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Hmm, wonder if it will be the same as the PS2 arrange or if they're creating something new. Also wonder if Novice will have all three game modes in it, as I recall several people here enjoyed Novice Ultra in the Futari port.Elixir wrote:Confirms Novice and Arrange.

What are the odds arrange mode is 1.5?
I guess pretty low right?

Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
I'd say nil. Arrange modes are always something unique to the home ports and are not based off any PCB releases (although, I guess one could argue that Ibara Arrange is quite close to Ibara Black Label in many respects).Illyrian wrote:What are the odds arrange mode is 1.5?

One should always assume region-locked, especially after what G.Rev mentioned in regards to 360 UD-HD.MR_Soren wrote:I plan to buy it whatever they do as long as it runs on my console, but I think it's too early to start this thread's region-locking argument.
Re: Mushihimesama HD (360)
Isn't Ibara Kuro kinda based off the PS2 arrange mode? I remember reading this somewhere.Kiken wrote:Arrange modes are always something unique to the home ports and are not based off any PCB releases (although, I guess one could argue that Ibara Arrange is quite close to Ibara Black Label in many respects).

It looks kinda weird. Especially the girl herself. Hafta wait 'til more screenshots roll in(or vids).
I certainly don't remember any of the hi-res ports of the other games having this wonky kind of screenshot.

That card interface is the same crap they used on Resurrection, Deathsmiles, Espgaluda II etc. just slightly modified. Awful UI.
Personally I think this confirms that there is an A team and B team at CAVE, the A team being the one which built Akai Katana's amazing interface, and the B team being the one in charge of everything else. Futari stands out as a beautiful interface because M2 built it. Everything else has been variously bad to horrible.
