I quite like the ost, shins is a bit better though but definitely isn't one of my favourites overall.

Clearly it can't be the worst Cave OST.

MMP's really takes the cake hands down in that department.

Actually I was kidding about Manabu Namiki. No doubt he's been a bit hit-and-miss lately but I thought the MMP soundtrack was pretty good.

Frankly I think the arrange soundtrack for Dodonpachi Ressurection on RSG's release was pretty bad. Can't see the issue of taste being a reason for Rising Star not to include the soundtrack. They're probably trying to bring prices down, or don't want to risk another Deathsmiles factory production mishap.

Yeah I think the the dfk arrange album has all of like 2 decent tracks on it.

Vertigo is fucking awesome.

I really like Akai Katana's arranged soundtrack. I call it a general improvement, with some tracks being much better than the original (the stage 3 BGM in particular, especially since it got rid of the damned vox synth crap...Metroid Prime 1 is the only game that I'll give a pass for using them).

I meant the daifukkatsu arrange album not the black label ost.

God damn dense motherfuckers. I guess it's not surprising that people are still getting this wrong. Still waiting to preorder this on Amazon, as well.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

MMP and PS were done by (what I'm pretty sure is) an inhouse team at Cave, not Namiki and Basiscape.

MMP's stage 5 track alone keeps it in the pantheon IMO.

Also, keep PS out of this discussion. PS is THE BEST Cave soundtrack.

You got that? THE BEST.

How does DDP not automatically take the cake, with its repeating tracks?

Drives me crazy. Stage 4 is where so many Cave BGM's shine, and everytime I get to stage 4 in DDP I cringe.

I like Akai Katana's soundtrack a lot, actually. Still think it would be cool if the release gave a nod to the composer, Ryu Umemoto, who passed away last year.

Great news, man! Can't wait! Been waiting a while to try this one out, but the import price seemed a bit steep...

Because they're amazing, unlike, say, anything from Progear.

I'm typically open minded...
But how anyone could dislike DDP's soundtrack is beyond me. Spaceships & lasers + 90's guitar riffs = bliss :D

Akai Katana is also one of my favorite cave OSTs, it's no DOJ or Ketsui, but it still rocks!

Progear's tracks are actually pretty good if you listen to them on the OST. Problem is the CPS2 quality makes them sound much less impressive. DDP's repeating tracks are pretty annoying, but the music itself isn't too bad. I'd say the original Donpachi's worse due to the music being both bad and of abysmal sound quality.

Interesting. That wasn't the impression I got the last time there was a discussion regarding this soundtrack in the same space as Namiki. I'll check VGMdb for a few other albums now.

I don't remember seeing anything about this... torisu, are there any plans to localize the Akai Katana Shin demo for the NA and Euro marketplaces?

gamefaqs.com listed April 27th as the release date. Not sure how reliable it is.

How reliable would that be on a game released on a Friday...none.

Pretty much just a placeholder until torisu tells us when its actually coming out.

Yeah, don't use Gamefaqs release dates as anything solid... they are always wayyyy off.
