Flying Shark stage 2 plus Truxton stage 1 mixed together to create a song that sounds better than both!

Yes, it is that one. I love that song, it's awesome

Re: What is your favorite shmup music?
nZero, you've been holding out on us!
I just went and had a listen to this (actually it's just finishing) and oh man
Next time I play Vimana I'll just imagine that's playing. I have something like fond feelings for the Raiden Fighters games.
A personal favorite just recently discovered is the Air Duel stage 6 music. Really unusual stage.

I have a feeling our informative Op Intensify has misconstrued a detail with his elaborate statement.Emo Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Which Flying Shark stage is it from?Op Intensify wrote:It's actually a ripoff of a track from Flying Shark.Raiden DX- Gallantry is my all time favorite
It's closer to Fire Shark/Same Same Same's stage 1 theme than what I've heard in Flying Shark. Lightning War on the other hand is quite similar to Flying Shark's stage 2 though. Similar, but not 'ripoff' quality - that title goes to some of IGS's titles which is known to have stolen music. Maybe Mr Intensify might be a champ and recall some of the games I'm referring to but have forgotten the specific names of?

If anyone knows of any songs that have an awesome sad feeling and that are similar to Ashura Blaster- Stage 1, S1945II- Devil's Tower, S1945III- Another Side, S1945III- Turn Red, RF2-Name Entry, R2/DX- Name Entry, Raiden DX- Gallantry, VP1- Stage 8, Raiden III- Dawn of Sorrow, and Under Defeat- Tears Which Died, please let me know.

That was anything but an elaborate statement, you jolly old country gentleman cad. I was going on hearsay based on a tidbit I'd read multiple times on the internet about Raiden's music.
I think the term "swiping" would be more accurate. After actually comparing them myself, Flying Shark's Stage 2 theme has strong similarities to Gallantry, but isn't close enough to be a copy.

Hmmm... Those do sound similar, but I don't know why I just am in love with the music from Raiden DX, especially Gallantry. The first time I ever played Raiden DX, that song was just stuck in my head all day, even when I fell asleep that nightI have a feeling our informative Op Intensify has misconstrued a detail with his elaborate statement.

Re: Music
That'd be the joke, Mr Statistical.
The bullshit hearsay likes to pick on Gallantry a bit but I think if you listen to these tracks (excusing the enemy sound effects that pop up later in the first one):
Flying Shark - Stage 2 / Raiden - Lightning War
It'd be more accurate to say that Raiden's Stage 2 'swiped' some musical composition from Flying Shark's stage 2.
As for the original crap, do these:
Fire Shark - Stage 1 / Raiden - Gallantry really sound like clones?
Frankly I don't think they're swiped but rather inspired by what was being published around the same time, which I think if you listened the radio these days is a common phenomenon. Regardless, I love them both: I swear by the Raiden series as the best example shmups of all time but of course that has about as much standing as a Cave fanboy saying the same about Mushi Futai.

I do! Unlike most lists on this thread there isn't a single track on that list that I disagree with. Raiden FTW.

I agree with you, they don't sound like clones at all, the Raiden music does sound inspired by earlier Toaplan games, just like you said.BPzeBanshee wrote:That'd be the joke, Mr Statistical.![]()

"Rough and Tumble" is the best song to come out of Raiden I/II/DX imo. Stoic shooting heroism x100000000

Re: What is your favorite shmup music?
Haha, wish I'd seen your post before I posted about Rough and Tumble in the other current music thread. That's exactly why I love it. The combination of a semi-melancholic tone with anthemic melody and pounding rhythms is perfect for take on the world gaming... especially when punctuated by the game's trademark piercing explosions.Emo Fox Jet Pilot wrote:I chose these songs because most of them have that slightly sad, melancholy feel to them. Good call on Devil's Tower from Strikers II, as well. I love the arranged version in particular. Near-Data East levels of unashamed heroism.

Re: Music
I am currently listening to it, and it's awesome. I have never played the Genesis/Megadrive version, only the game boy version, and that one was pretty hard also. After many hours of frustration, I finally beat it, though. Some of the parts in this one kind of remind me of this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJRoRt155mABPzeBanshee wrote:Rough and Tumble, amen.

Re: What is your favorite shmup music?
I looked for a YT clip, surprised it's not on there - the arrangement is from the Strikers 1945 I & II joint soundtrack if it helps track it down.
Got to mention the Mega Drive versions of Vapor Trail's main theme and a slightly rule-bending shoutout to the astounding MD Midnight Resistance while I'm at it. I love several of the weirder / darker / dancier / more experimental OSTs like G-Darius, Metal Black and Einhander, but goddamn. Sometimes you have to quit beating around the bush and blast the Seibu and Toaplan tunes while blowing up tanks and helicopters!

Indeed! The credits was quite awesome. I thought the museum stage was pretty neat too but if I go into much more detail I might as well just link them all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKU9XjgX ... ure=relmfu
I'm not a huge fan of Mega Man as a game but I do enjoy the music from the games. Nice find there too!

This one is by far my favorite. Honorable mention goes to "Burn Yourself", the boss theme from DOJ.

Re: What is your favorite shmup music?
I merged the two music topics together, discussion was getting pretty fragmented.
Yes, I wrote it in FastTracker maybe 4 or 5 years ago, the original XM file (renamed) is up on my webspace.
Oh, thank youEmo Fox Jet Pilot wrote:Yes, it is that one. I love that song, it's awesomeI assume you composed it, right, because it shows your name in the credits in the game.

I think "tribute" would be the more correct term, Raiden goes out of its way to make lots of little nods at the Toaplan library.Op Intensify wrote:I think the term "swiping" would be more accurate.
