I'm nipping this in the bud right now. This thread for MMP/PS information and discussion ONLY; if you have any comments DIRECTLY RELATED to the PS/MMP bundle being region free, then they can go in this thread. GENERAL DISCUSSION about region-locking, Cave's policies, your own crackpot theories on business based on logical fallacies, etc. go in THIS THREAD ⇒ http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30158

Anyone below this post who strays from this guideline is in for a world of hurt.

Are those pink-clad girls from the Pink Sweets cover playable in the game? Maple and Caramel Pink? Socie Soar and Harmony Humming are also in the art book - are these characters the bosses?
So, are we expected to turn our TV on its side?!

The video cave provided on facebook (http://kotaku.com/5707906/big-ladies-an ... egion-free) shows two screens of the same game going at the same time. Is one screen an arrange mode and the other normal? Or are they the same mode?

Completely stoked for this. The game comes out around the same time as marvel vs. capcom 3, so i know i'm going to be broke come february

The preorder price at play-asia says about $120. Is that right? I mean it is two games... I'm just not sure if I can afford that much at the moment!

The theme for Muchi Much Pork! seems completely absurd, but in a good way. Huge departure from the mega-serious you're the last ship to save the world shooter.

The gameplay looks great, saw some great youtube videos.

I think you're looking at the LE set. The regular is a pre-order of 79.90.

You can preorder the limited version at Ami Ami Hobbies for 7550 yen (around $90). I've dealt with them before and have had no problems. And yes, dfk came with the dlc card.

2 Arrange OSTs, guranteed DLC of the Matsuri version.
Dlc is in first print run SEs.

Pretty standard package these days.

Aye, yeah that's what I kinda figured. I was hoping for blow up dolls of the fine pork females, at least.

I wonder if the LE will be region-free as well. The Espgaluda II and Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 LEs were region-locked despite the normal editions being region-free.

So how is this game? Just on aesthetics this game seems to be the worst of cave imo. Nothing about this really appeals to my taste. But if the game is really fun it wont matter to me.

I'm in the same boat, pretty much. I'll buy it, cuz they're probably good games, but they look so unbelievably lame.

Im not trying to judge what is cool or what is not. The music and the way it looks is just not my taste. It doesn't help that these will not support HD like mushi / death / esp 2 / and daifukkatsu. Or that fact that Daifuketsui comes out about the same time.

Just want to know impressions of people who have played it in the arcades, and what I can expect to enjoy from it.

ARMED PIG BATRIDER not good enough for them?

edit: I wanted to do a "BUTTWIDER" joke but failed miserably and ended up double-posting and further messing everything up, gah!

There are plenty of impressions to be searched here and at Cave-STG. It's one of my favorite Cave games, and the in-game art is very nice.. though I can see how some would object to the cutscene stuff. Music is ok, but the voices will drive you nuts.

But for me it's up there with Futari BL and DFK BL for overall fun factor.

I'm going for the SE, because of the lack of an faceplate in the LE. I already own a Muchi Muchi Pork OST. And then there is so much coming out in February, I need all the extra Euros I can get.

And Cave's explanation for that was because they made the decision to go region-free late in the production cycle. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. Worst comes to worst you'll know from PA a few days before it ships.

I preordered the Limited Edition from P-A, the postage for air economy is a staggering $15 which I nullified with a discount code, they shouldn't even know the approx size or weight of the LE yet they charge almost as much as the quicker shipping options.
AmiAmi on the other hand, don't bill you until they have items in stock; with Paypal too so I don't need to pay my bank a conversion fee for using their US$s, Paypal has been cheaper in my experience. Hopefully that means the postage will be cheaper than what P-A has up, saving ~$20 (~$30 without said code).

For P-A I always pre-order on my CC cause they don't bill until shipped and then the week before change payment to paypal.

BTW do we have firm details on the collectors edition because to me it just seems like "oh yeah it will have the osts." I imagine it will have different artwork on the CD and case. Plus be in some kind of special box.

I haven't played either of these before is there a good CAVE game (or other companies game) to compare their play style/scoring mechanics too?

Also would you consider these cute m ups?

These two particular games are chiefly programmed by a Shinobu Yagawa, who takes a decidedly different approach to shmup making than most other CAVE programmers. In particular, these two games resemble the likes of his older works, and in a way, Ibara Kuro (programmed by someone else but is based on an arrange mode created for Ibara's PS2 port, possibly also programmed by this person). Some of those older works include the aforementioned Ibara and games such as Battle Garegga, Armed Police Batrider, and Battle Bakraid which were made for Raizing/Eighting (some kind of a "very loose trilogy" so to speak). Pink Sweets in particular takes some elements from a much older game by Yagawa; Recca. Come to think of it, Yagawa also did That One Arrange Mode for Espgaluda II Black Label.

And I don't think these can really be considered "cute 'em ups" exactly.

With past Cave titles for the 360 I decided against the LE, but I couldn't resist in this case because I'm such an Ibara fan and really expect to love these games. If the love runs as deep as Shikigami no Shiro 2, then nothing less than the LE will be good enough. So I click on the LE at Play-Asia, and they were packaging it together for a lower price with the latest DDP and I couldn't resist. Add on the reasonably priced Fed Ex shipping, and this package is costing the same as an Ibara PCB. I'm guessing, though, that it has the potential to be as much fun.
