Pretty good considering I've been playing (USA version, patriotism YEAH!) for about 2 days.

EDIT:
Image
New high, Stage 5 is a bitch. The extend in Stage 4 is also seriously impossible to get, so I won't try to go for it until I can perfect the first 3 stages consistently.

Sorry. I've been used to games where the score is shown on Name entry. I reached Stage 5 but didn't clear - sorry about my absentmindedness.

After another hiatus, I'm back into Progear again, and trying a serious attempt at bettering my score (by not just repeating the same run over and over, and instead learning some new tricks). it's working a little!

EDIT: Score deleted. New score posted below.

A pretty messy clear (2/3 on reaching the final boss) and I should be able to hit 15 million with a bit more work, but I can't see myself looping this anytime soon, so!

(JPN Version:
Aliquantic - 13,614,150 - 1-ALL - Bolt/Nail)

It seems the Japanese board is not quite set to 35 places. For one, I can count up to 38. o_0

The US board, on the other hand, is missing a place.

That missing place is me. I submitted my score incorrectly, so Battlesmurf got huffy and apparently hasn't bothered to read the messages I sent him where I gave him the correct score. It's kind of annoying (I'm pretty proud of that score) so I'm thinking of hosting a new Progear scoreboard.

I'd absolutely love to run the Progear score thread too, but Battlesmurf has been very good with this thread (There's been 49 edits thus far), and has always been clear he goes for updating about once a month rather than after every new score.

Regardless, it's polite to check with the old maintainer before you take over.

I'm sure Battlesmurf will update all our scores soon.

And on that note:

EDIT: Score deleted - newer score posted further down!

Dayumn! I better get to using Bolt, since speed is a necessity in Progear.

BOOM! Sorry Skykid - I just did this:

Progear JPN

spadgy - 16,222,650 - 1-ALL - Bolt/Rivet

Image

Could have got more on level 3, but by my standard with everything else went to plan. Even managed jewel streaming in level 5! I played this during the christmas visit to my parents, lugging down the CPS2 to use on the crappiest TV that made the HUD hard to read. I think not getting distracted by my scoring may have got me this score!

Please don't! Only kidding. Please do! Our friendly rivalry over this game has been great for making it more fun. I'm pretty pleased with my 16m. It took me a lot of effort and time relearning sections. Icarus is egging me on to go for 20m. I'll see if I have it in me!

Ha! I wish! I know I should never say never, but seriously, I'm not too good at this. I might have put hundreds of hours (and possibly pounds in credits at the arcade) into just 16m!

Done in Casino Arcade, London. I died on the final boss' ramming attack - such an ungainly ship shouldn't be able to move so fast!

No-miss/no-bomb until the stage 4 boss, then I bombed accidentally and stage 5 was hell... so despite what I was saying a few weeks ago, I should be able to loop.

JPN Version:
Aliquantic - 15,152,290 - 1-5 - Bolt/Nail

Thanks! I just started playing this but didn't want to post my lowly score if everyone got bumped down from the new high scores.

It sure is. The first post in the thread mentions "at least once a month". I just updated in Dec, and I am here now :) Spadgy did a good thing and pm'ed me. You guys gotta remember for awhile this HS board was dead. I am happy to see it start picking up !

The "around one month" logic comes from several events. First one is the lull this thread his (probably right around the time all the new shmup stuff was happening :)

Hope this helps you guys. Anyways- thread updated- and keep the scores coming! If they continue at this rate- I'll switch to a 2 week or less updating. What would you guys like to see?

Hey there-

I have not gotten huffy (or at least not that I know of), I just kindly ask to be pm'ed if you spot an error, have questions, want it updated, etc- I get these quicker than notifcations when someone posts on the thread. I haven't gotten any pm's from you :?: Please forgive me if I've done something.

I left that blank spot open exactly for you, so when corrections were made I could fix them. I am working my way up the thread right now- if you posted here, it'll get posted. As the topic says- I get to this thread around once a month. I *just* did the thread in December- so please, be patient :) Also, I've had this thread since 2008- I'm not ready to turn over the keys yet. I didn't when it was essentially dead, not going to now.

That's fine, and it's in there. Also- "friendly reminder" is just that. No malice, no huffy- I just want stuff put in writing. I make enough errors as it is- at least this way I can have the help of the friendly neighborhood shmuppers that can motivate me :)

It's all gravy :) At the end of the day, my 'job' would mean nothing without people to populate the scoreboard- so I'm here for you guys(and gal).

Thanks!

Once a month makes sense thanks for the explanation. I'm new and just getting into the genre and I'd have to say Progear is the first game that has really sucked me in with it's scoring system. Heres the score I was going to post:

Mame/USA
Shogun - 4,026,820 - 1-4 - Bolt/Nail

Thanks Battlesmurf. You've always done a great service with this thread so it's good to see you still as Captain of the ship!

And I get to see my name above Skykid's!
