Davey - Super Buffet S.T. - 640,300 - 1-5 - Quaid (MAME)

Ironically, I should be getting my HRAP stick right around the time the competition ends. Great.

i cant believe so many play with quaid  he's much to slow for scoring imo...

Only the 3rd day I've managed to play this game over the week and I'm not sure if I can improve on that.

Ian's sprite is a little hard to see at times and I don't like the bomb. Quaid's fast enough.

Phew, made it.

BulletMagnet - Team Loser - 648,900 - Stage 5 - Sonia

Probably could have gone a little farther if not for an "I shoulda bombed" death earlier on, but on the whole I'm at least a little proud of myself for getting as far as I did.

Very true. But I had a game where I finally broke 700k on 1-4 with Ian. I've never done that before. However, with his speed I tend to run into more bullets.

And 1-6 was a joke. I ran into trouble and had to bomb, so I sat right in the center of the bomb-line and as soon as it wore off I was dead before the rest of the bullets were still streaming at me. Tough but fun.

Totally frustrating game. Getting killed by hidden bullets is not my idea of fun. I hope I never play this game again as long as I live. The random stages completely pisses me off. I put a lot of effort in and got nowt back.

I HATE THIS GAME

Concerning Ian vs. Quaid, I expect the world record is held by someone playing Ian. Ian is better for scoring; Quaid is better for surviving. Of course, surviving is good for scoring, especially in a competition involving a time-limit. But I think you know what I mean.

Quaid is better for surviving for two reasons (both mentioned above): bullet-clearing bombs and more steady movement. Ian's bomb, if aimed at a boss, is more powerful, so it can be useful for getting through a tough boss stage. But you can usually make up for the difference with Quaid by coupling the bomb with a couple of dragonshots.

EDIT: In order to be a better husband, I had to skip playing this weekend. I'm ok with my score, though.

Then you'd be wrong.

There's a reason Quaid has the highest score: weak, screen-clearing bomb and good speed, making it easy to wipe the screen of bullets and quickly dash over to targets to dragonshoot, without fear of destroying them with the bomb.

Ian has great movement and dragon recall speed, but has the worst bomb defense of any character in any game I've ever played.
