(LOL can't play truxton well drunk or sober)

My girlfriend had a big party with friends at her country house and i ended up drinking... quite a lot.
Last thing i remember is going to bed fully clothed and sleeping.
Woke up naked, bed linens are gone, walk out to my girl and her friends to ask WTF is going on.
Turns out i puked in her face when she got into bed and continued baking pizzas like there was no tomorrow. She took care of me and put me in the shower but when i couldn't open the shower doors to get out (because of the zombie like state i was in) i smashed through the doors (fixed 'em now though) and started marching out into the living room.
She got a towel around the family jewels and got me in bed (turns out i was almost sleep walking, just answering with gruff noises) and stayed up looking after me.

Embarassing as fuck.
Glad my girl is as wonderful as she is...

We did some calculations and i had about 40cl of 40% spirits, two glasses of wine and 9 beers with an average of 8%.
 Epic.

Save me from my hangover.

I spent last night in KTV wearing Kanye West grille shades and downing glasses of coloured alcohol from a vase of dry ice. I got home at 5am and can hardly remember my name.

And now I have to go paint a bathroom.

Gatorade. And water. Slowly begin eating, like just plain toast, at first. How hungover you actually are will determine whether you'll throw up or not.

If you don't, keep eating, especially, carbs and sugar, as those will help your body regain it's "equilibrium", for lack of better words; If you do throw-up, however, keep drinking Gatorade, and attempt to eat every so often, until you stop vomiting, followed by carbs and sugar.

I really appreciate the sincere answer, that's really kind! I was kind of exaggerating for effect though - I deal with hangovers twice weekly these days. :)

Don't think I've thrown up after drinking since I downed a bottle of cheap Vodka at someone's shindig ten years ago.

So I'm still technically hungover but my student invited me to an English pub and now I have free Leffe on tap.

Heaven.

amazing. wait is that a euphemism or were you actually baking pizzas?

What's that? craft beers? Ale? good taste? fuck that! I like JD or even cheaper whiskey.
It gets me in a good happy(ish) place, drunkwise. Rather than beer which my weedy body can't take, I get all bloated and tired/miserable and upset people.

Not as much a question of interpretation as i'd like it to be. :P

Have definitely become a beer guy over the years. Prefer real strong flavors. Usually end up with DIPAs or imp. stouts. :P
Can drink both for taste and just getting wasted.

I just get a six pack of PBR when I go to parties because I can drink a few beers and still be ok to drive, but most of the time prefer good beer. IPAs, brown ales, saisons, sours, etc... The last few really great beers I had were Ommegang Gnomegang and Lost Abbey Inferno, both really good strong Belgian pales.

Whiskey, on the other hand, I'll just get the cheapest stuff (Old Crow!) and cut it with water. I never feel like spending much money on a bottle of whiskey because I know it's only going to last me a couple of days and a case of beer will last me a week or more. Plus, most of the time when I get whiskey it's because I want to get drunk and really don't give a shit.
Feedback will set you free.

For those of you who dig beer i gotta give a big shoutout to a swedish brewing duo who've been making pretty big waves all around the globe:
Omnipollo
Image
Leon is a beer i've yet to meet someone who dislikes. Even vintage wine drinkers find it profound and pleasant.
Nebuchadnezzar is my favorite IPA. Absolutely awesome to have it readily available now that it's in the Swedish standard sortiment.
Hypnopompa sounds like a pretty one dimensional combination - imp. stout brewed with marshmallows - but it's absolutely incredible the amount of depth packed into it.
How well the sweet tones play against the bitter espresso tones. Definitely give it a try if you can get a hold of it.

Craft brewery scene has definitely exploded. I teach a brewing class and one of the students asked me what my favorite beer was, and I froze like a deer in the headlights. I don't even know what my favorite style is anymore. I love the huge, epic beers, but lately have been enjoying lots of sessions ales because I've been doing a lot of house work and don't want to bring my afternoon/evening to an early close.

Sure, there's an ocean of mediocre beer, but there is a LOT of great beer.

One thing I'm getting away from are beers with fruit/spice additions. I know it is standard for saisons, wits, and a lot of other styles, but not only is it mostly overdone, but there's a point I'm more interested in yeast character than tasting how artfully they added a pinch of coriander.

I've been meaning to do the same, though I prefer getting mystical instead of drunk for any Boorman. May I also add that having studied a bunch of medieval history and arthuriana in the last year, my respect for Excalibur has only grown.

You don't mix vodka, son. You put it in the freezer and drink it straight out of the bottle in excessive amounts

99 degrees here today, 101 tomorrow. You know I'm gunna get drunk.

Skykid: 7 pints of what? 5% beers I can drink almost indefinitely, but push it just a little more, and I'll start caving in in short order.

I was on the cheap stuff last night, both in price and percentage. Chinese beer at about 3.2%.

I most certainly can't drink 5%+ indefinitely though, you must have alcohol for blood. Five to six pints in England and that's usually my lot, give or take.

At D&B I had a Rob Roy with dinner (they asked what kind of Scotch I'd like in it, so I went with Johnnie Walker), then a Romana Sambuca on rocks after dinner. One cool thing about RS is the Ouzo effect, where it clouds if you add water.

I did try espresso once with a tsp. of Sambuca added to the shot (not at D&B, but in my own kitchen). Didn't taste bad at all.

I'm the same way. I have a hard time getting drunk on beers like that because they take up so much real estate in my belly. I feel like I'm going to explode by the time I start to feel a buzz and if I take my time I can drink them all day long.

That's just it. I drink a 5% beer about the same speed as something more alcoholic, but in reality 5% is the same strength as budwiser. If I guzzled them I would definitely get drunk. Hanging out with friends I've pretty much consumed a 5% every 45 minutes or so for half the day and not been much worse for the wear.
