How did you record this video? The image quality seems very good.
I always say in the youtube description how I record a particular video.
In this case it's Reflector. http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/ WARNING! Reflector only does a 30 fps recording. I don't know if iPad-to-Composite equipment does 30 or 60 fps, by the way. Anyway, Reflector has a free 7 day trial, so you can decide for yourself if it's good for you or not. Also - if Reflector is hiccuping a lot, make sure 1) your wifi is strong enough 2) your CPU is strong enough (you can try lowering resolution to compensate)
I'm sort of occupied with STGT Gaiden right now so I'm not sure if this is a good idea.
On my off-times when not score running in XED (or just normal survival play), I managed to clear the first game of the Len'en Project (game made by guy who did the PC 98 Touhou april fools stuff from what I understand. Game in question was Evanescent Existence) on normal. I think I've been working on and off for this clear since April-ish, though I didn't tackle it seriously until now. I had the idea to just go for scoring tactics earlier today and managed a clear. Its kind of hard to adjust to the invincibility frames you have after bombing or dying since it feels like less than half a seconds.
Replay (for those curious)
I bombed specific patterns on the stage 2 and 3 bosses for score. Other than that, I think most of my bomb usage was for survival (and I think there are a lot of panic bombs).
Also some stuff I didn't bother to take pictures of, mainly Ketsui 2-3 with ~140M (apparently I don't remember anything about that game anymore) and some random easy clears.
A little achievement: I finally beat Black Heart Mark 1 in Battle Garegga and made it to the Base stage; I also finally crossed 4 million points.
I used to play with a Hori Wii fightstick, but I started to realize that the stick was shit (it was a $40 generic part fightstick so...) and reverted back to a wii classic controller pro, which has a really nice d pad; I started doing much better in Garegga pretty quickly.
Nice one hermit, it's pretty cool to finally beat a boss as iconic as Black Heart!
As for me, holy shit.. just had far and away the best credit I've ever had in Ketsui, got all the way to the stage 5 descent. =D
Gonna start practicing stage 5 for real now. The holy grail is a little bit closer...
I can't imagine what it would be like in an arcade when you get the clear. People looking on in groups as they huddle around your flickering crt. Amazed by your shmupping prowess. And for the first time in a long time, they realise that this isn't some kind of game. Shmups become a holographic representation of our mundane lives, but cooler. The arcade owner comes and kisses your hand, almost like a Don.
This is an experience very few of us will taste. Instead we celebrate on an Internet forum. Look how top arcade game players get their attention in Japan, (eg Daigo). Arcade gamers used to be pussy magnets.
Too bad.
If you played yesterday (friday) in the middle of the afternoon on the last cab on the right having mushihimesama, then I think I saw you playing. Looking very Finland guy indeed
Nope, I wasn't anywhere friday since my flight left really early. I was in HEY thursday evening though. I believe I played one bad credit of Mushi 1.5 that day.
I cleared Rozen Diadem and Hector '39. Fun little doujin shmups. Hector '39 has a bullshit last (section of the last) stage, though, that is much more difficult than the rest of the entire game, including the last boss, which is quite a pushover.
I just cleared Genetos on default difficulty. WAAAAAY too easy, but still very fun. So much shooter history love all packed into 1 small game The author even shouted out to Parsec 47, not to mention many classics. The Rez part kind of took me off guard because it's a 3D scrolling shooter, but very cool to include it! Maybe I'll attempt it on a harder setting at some point.
Which version of Windows are you running? I tried playing Genetos on Win 8.1 but the game randomly crashes. It seems it has to do with how sound is handled in that version of Windows. For instance, even if I mute the sound in the menu, it still plays at an unchanged volume.
Got a 1.9 billion score score in Imperishable Night earlier on normal. I think I have a potential 2 billion if I didn't die so much stage 5 and onwards, but I wasn't really aiming for that. Mostly following my routes by memory, but I sort of forgot how I should approach Kaguya. I feel I died to stuff I probably shouldn't have died to. I'm kind of rusty for not touching IN for a month, but I ended up getting my highest score in the game. I'll have to say thanks to PurpleTheGuy for helping me figure out where my IN runs were being stored.
Other than that, I've been getting clears for the PC-98 Touhous. I posted my scores on Restart Syndrome. I'll have to agree with Trap and Chum when they told me that Lotus Land Story is the easiest of the PC-98 Touhou games (as far as normal clears are concerned that I have done). I'll probably try working on the harder difficulties once STGT Gaiden is over if I don't go back to scoring in Perfect Cherry Blossom.
Genetos is pretty nice when it comes to starting lives. I'm sure you get less lives to start with if you pick a harder difficulty.

Windows 7. That's a shame if it isn't compatible with Windows 8. Is there any kind of compatibility mode option in Win 8?

Yeah, I should hope so. 15 lives is just a ton of lives. I was playing really poorly and still managed to blind clear--well technically the first half or so wasn't a blind clear because my last run was ended by the sticky keys message coming up from pressing shift too many times in a row (I was trying to lock on and fire several times in succession to destroy asteroids faster) and I couldn't go back into the game for some reason (presumably b/c it was fullscreen).

This is always annoying. I got in the habit of disabling it anytime I do a fresh install of windows a machine intended for gaming. It's really irritating when you forget about it and then accidentally hold Shift long enough to trigger it.

Not sure if you did so already, but you can disable it. I pretty much have that message disabled for Touhou (mostly because I tend to press shift in tune with the music). I checked myself and its something you can easily get to by searching sticky keys on the start menu.
Hacker is a pretty decent challenge to clear. Took me roughly 4-5 tries to figure out since I went straight into hacker after blind clearing standard programmer. You do start out with 10 lives, but it can be surprisingly easy to lose all those (that or I was playing poorly those attempts).
