I picked this up on Friday. The wiring (bottom left) is very amateurish and suspicious. I fear the board may be fried as a result
It came attached to this equally neglected cab. My plan is to slowly sink more money into the restoration than the finished product will ever be worth. Wish me luck!

Nah, no spare red ones unfortunately.
I picked these up in the Taito Station in Hiroshima, the Taito arcades I visited in Tokyo and Osaka only had the blue ones.
I also got some sexy Namco and Sega ones. I don't smoke and i've got waaay more ashtrays than cabs now so will have to rotate them or something.

Are japaneses stealing them too or is it just fetishism from non native? What happens if you get caught red handed stealing a red or blue ashtray?

The allure of the Japanese arcade center turns foreign gamers into instant kleptomaniacs.

I don't understand going all the way to Japan to pinch shmup merch. I just make sure I steal something every time I go to Skykid's place.

Finally acquired this mythical board:
It's got fantastic style and great concepts, however its game mechanics have some serious flaws. I'll be honest, I got it primarily as a collector's piece and because I couldn't let it slip away for the price I found it for.
Anybody here able to do a rom swap for me? Unfortunately it's the European version, which is missing some scenes and has a different stage order.

Nice get. If you search the forums you'll probably find some discussion on the title. I sold mine after a while because it was worth way more money than playing again
So sad they didn't spend more time on the mechanics, as it has some absolutely fabulous sprite work in some spots. I could probably burn some EPROMs for ya. PM the part numbers (2 of them) to me.

Agreed. I love putting it on for a credit feed and to look at the lovely graphics, but it's pretty damn ropey.

SERENDIPITOUS!
I just "discovered" that game last night - perusing MAME's farthest reaches. Game LOOKS impressive in attract. Detail animations, cool concept...but gameplay and the overall execution falls limp.
Could have been a primo platformer!

GaijinPunch translated a great article about Data East here:

A large part of the interview is about Edward Randy, the huge effort it took to develop it, and it's subsequent flopping.

Edward Randy was also slated for release on the Sega Saturn. There was an insert in some other Saturn game that announced "coming soon!" or something. Obviously never happened
The OST was on YAJ recently.

Nice. Has it been de-suicided already?
Also, I forgot to post this fujita new kit GET. Nice to have a fresh board with absolutely no scores on it, since I pretty much suck at these Cave horizontals.
