Thanks for the recommendations Rob & powerfuran, i'm trying an album of each of those bands to see. I'll let you know what i think after a bunch of listens.

Turrican wrote:Also, Morphine are quite cool too. Cure for Pain sounds great!

One of my fave songs ever is by Morphine: Hanging on a Curtain. It's just got that certain something. I then tried a couple of their albums, but i found them all boring. Very disappointed.

Yeah, it’s a great album. Rocks more than his other solo albums that I’ve heard. I like it just as well as any Pixies album.

Yo La Tengo – Summer Sun
Phife Dawg – Ventilation: Da LP
Bloc Party – Silent Alarm
Fugazi – Instrument
Rage Against the Machine – Evil Empire

Kraftwerk – Trans Europe Express LP
Shout Out Louds – Our Ill Wills

I've got advice that I might like Out There by Heliocentrics. Anyone has listened to it?

Well I downloaded the new Sons And Daughters album today (play.com, 58p per track, no DRM). I'd ordered the CD already but was feeling impatient.

It's awesome, full of life with a great hard edge. They've toned down the folk/punk sound from their last album somewhat, but it's still unmistakably there, and the result is an album full of driving sound and catchy songs. The lead singer steals the show (again) with a mix of strong melody, soothing whispers, angry snarling and real passion put behind the lyrics - often all within the same minute.

If anyone wants to get the flavour, hit Youtube and look for 'Gilt Complex' - first single from the album. Album is 'This Gift'.

Good news for everyone that likes stoner rock and doom. Leaf Hound records re released Acrimony's 2nd album, Tumuli Shroomaroom, and a collection of older stuff... too bad I found out now, as they issued Tumuli Shroomaroom on vinyl and I can't fucking find one. Lousy limited pressings....

I'd never heard them 'til now but it's not bad. It's got that neat surf rock sound or whatever like stuff from Pulp Fiction.

Just to prove I am not dead:

Archie Shepp:
-Live in San Francisco (1966)
-Mama Too Tight (66)
-Blase (69)

Really, I'm surprised I don't have a larger catalog of Shepp's work. It is pretty outstanding.

I have live at the Pan-African festival as well, which is good as extended pieces, but honestly Pharaoh Sanders and Sun Ra did this sort of thing much better, and it felt too much like a time and place sort of thing to me.

Electric Light Orchestra - Face The Music and Time

I sometimes just get into my ELO mood, and I prefer them over the Beatles for my vanilla pop rock.

Boris: Vein

Such an amzing album, can't believe I hadn't heard it until recently. Insanely heavy, deafening crust-punk. Wow.

Boris: Smile

Pretty odd. Not sure what I think yet.

Forward Russia: Life Processes

Been looking forward to this for ages, and somehow it lives up to my expectations. Completely different from the 1st album, but still has that charactistic sound.

Au Revoir Simone: The Bird of Music

Nice and breezy :)

Looks like I answered my own question, apparently Merzbow is going to be doing another collaboration with Sunn, and they've already done a couple shows together. Here's a clip:
