Anyone else's LE or SLE still being held by NCSX? Preordered the LE months ago but no shipping notification yet...

I'm having a serious bug within the NOVICE mode leaderboard. For some reason my B shot score went #1… Totally not possible.

I know there is still the major problem of everyone getting counterstops when submitting scores to the Xbox 360 Mode leaderboard, but it's not even letting me post mine onto 1.5's leaderboard. I submit it, it tells me it was received, and then nothing shows up under the My Score category. Is anyone else having this problem? I hope there will be a patch, and they haven't abandoned the players because it's their last 360 release.

Is Arcade HD mode identical to the PCB version, complete with scoring bug left intact?

Also, I guessed correctly about them including a special farewell message in the artbook. The last page says "Sayonara." The jury's still out on whether it refers to only the DDP series or Cave's entire STG career, though.

okay this is gonna sound stupid but... does the game not allow you to save scores locally if it's not online? My xbox is a banned one and is never online unfortunately. I get the local high scores but never see the "Enter Initials" screen of any kind. o-o

Pretas, are you sorting the leaderboard for the particular ship+shot you used?

No, your scores are saved locally, even though initial entry is disabled. They will show up on the high score tables during attract mode, and you can turn on a sidebar display showing your top individual stage scores and best total.

I wasn't sorting the leaderboard for my ship. I figured I would show up on a general list without having to do that.

Those were my exact thoughts as I had the same problem. Especially since you were able to see a general list in other cave 360 games.

Another silly thing they've done is that to change wallpaper you have to go all the way to the gallery instead of being able to change it in the screen options like before. I don't know what goes through their heads when they do some of these changes.

Received my SLE today, I really like the quality of the package, really feels like a Collector's Edition compared to their previous attempts and other games (guess I'm spoiled by Blizzard CEs). I kind of wish they did this for all their previous releases, as each game usually has a soundtrack and an artbook associated with it. Looking to get a copy of the SE cover so I can print one out and not scratch my steelbook case. Time to go play!

This isn't a good idea; there's an issue with SDOJ's interface where enabling those extra displays add more slowdown to the game.

Anyone know if there is a way to adjust the menus on a 4:3 screen in tate mode? In game everything is fine but I can't seem to adjust the menus. There is a widescreen mode on by default but it makes the menus letterboxed. Not a big deal either way...

What do you mean adjust the menus? You can rotate the menus under the general screen settings (select it from the main menu, set Link Rotation to On and the menus will rotate the way the game screen is rotated). I think someone earlier in the thread mentioned something about weird behaviour in the menu on a tated 4:3 display?

yeah - the menus suck on a tated 4:3. I keep having to switch "wide" on and off, else I cant see some of the menu options. Exceptionally poorly planned, CAVE. It's the exact same system as the MMP/PS disc. Which explains why it has the same graphical errors in exactly the same spots.

Yup MMP/PS is the only other game that gives me this issue. Anyways I'm not gonna complain. I'm enjoying the game and glad I have the chance to even play it.

I see, I was unaware of this. An exploit like this is especially bad, because it's impossible to verify from replay files whether a score was made using it or not. The interface definitely has some serious flaws; I wish they had recruited M2 or Gulti to port the game.

I'm not confident that the game will be patched. This is their final outing on 360 and their prospects aren't looking good for next gen development. There isn't much to lose at this point by not honoring the wishes of their hardcore console players.

Apparently a patch is already being worked on. Check the last page or so.

Well, that's a relief. The post about the patch doesn't mention the extra windows causing slowdown, but if they're addressing everything else they will probably get to it.

Has anyone thought of attempting to translate at least some of the dialogue from 360 mode, like we had done for Ginga Force? I understand that having no subtitles would make it harder.

The artbook contains the complete script afaik.

Anybody else experience issues with the replay player? While trying to review one of my own replays, it would repeatedly stop playback (and go back to the menu) after stage 4. After a few instances of this, I fast-forwarded it all the way up to the trouble spot and then poked at it a bit (paused/unpaused, etc) and then it loaded up stage 5 just fine. Really confusing. I was using a wired controller, so this wasn't an issue with it going to sleep or something.

NCSX shipped my copy to my billing address, rather than the shipping address, so I still won't get to play my copy for another 2 months.

I also got my copy from VGI (cheers Lee).

As for the game... The immediate thing that struck me about it was the amount of stuff in the play area. Loads of text, everything glows. This was abvious from watching a few replays, but it really hit me. After playing for about an hour I guess I was getting used to it, but I can't say I'm a fan. It's a bit of a mess compared to the original DOJ.

The character art is appalling and I've turned the voices all the way down - permanantly! Seriously, selecting a bikini for expert difficulty is borderline offensive.

However, it's a good bullet dodger and things really kick in on stage 3. I'm sure the more I put into it the more I'll enjoy it, hope so anyway.

tbh the crazy colors are one thing I'm looking forward to... Futari Black Label's an unparalleled experience for me because of how 100% overstimulating it is. Hopefully the same holds true for SDOJ and its waves of golden hyper-stars.

My SLE arrived from VGI and just spent a quick hour falling in love with it again. Seriously badass game.
Although I still seem to have trouble tracking my ship's position, something I noticed when playing it at Stunfest as well - my eyes seem to think that the ship is at least a length higher up than it actually is.
