Shmuppers are rare here, I can usually be the only one at my local arcade who even touches the shmups. In fact, shmups across the country are disappearing fast. Saw espgaluda around once, never ever saw DDP. Raiden probably only the classic ones. Yeah, that annoys the hell out of me. We need more love in shmups.
This is my signature. It's so unique, nobody else has it.

Just dawned on me the other day while playing BINARY DOMAIN on the X360.
I really, really really hate when your character's speed is slowed down to a crawl during those pseudo cinema/communication chatter segments. Gears Of War has this too.

JUst let me run through the area as I please!

Watching my first television in weeks, here's a commercial for Glad trash bags.

(image of the bag's high-tech webbed design stretching so you can fit more of your needlessly generated waste in)

"Our bags are more environmentally friendly!" Yeah, right, their trash bags are part of the problem.

stupid kids that use forums. I joined my first forum when I was 9 or so and you didn't see ME bumping 2 years old threads with a half-assed, incomprehensible response, or creating a stupid username like "imaalian" or "immewtwo".

one thing that bugs me is that I always think of things to post in this thread when I'm not on the computer, and don't remember them when I'm on.

Wacom's use of non-standard USB connectors for some older tablets, including my Bamboo Fun CTE-450. Had to order a replacement from eBay because I just couldn't find one here.

PS2 games that refuse to recognize a Dual Shock 1. Especially bad since most of the time, the games never do anything using the pressure-sensitive part of buttons.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I remember this happenening when I tried Star Wars: Battlefront. Was a bit absurd as I couldn't even figure out why it needed the pressure sensitivity. Also, the pressure sensitive buttons were horrible to use on the rare occasions like Gran Turismo where they were recognized. The Gamecube/Xbox shoulder analog trigger was a much better idea.

Buying disc media and making coasters/discs that don't read well. It's not the burner either, it's the damn disc being cheaply made.
I've usually bought Memorex and haven't had problems, picked up a 25pk of DVD-Rs, and I've made 4 coasters out of 6 burns.

Yeah, yeah. I should go buy Taiyo Yuden, but fffffffffff.

Currently playing CnC Generals: Zero hour and the following occurs:
-Elitist pricks that use gentool
-Cheater pricks that use genergen
-People claiming to be pros yes doing nothing and complaining about their allies during the whole game until hey lose (and usually leaving as soon as they start losing)
-People entering no-rush games and quickly finding an excuse to rush (you build those defenses too close! or some other crap excuse)
-People rigging teams and then calling their opponents noobs
And most of all
-Foreigners who join a game and say nothing, don't read the rules, and then proceed to cheat the whole time.
Expect a HAHAHHAHAHAHA/JAJAJAJAJA coupled with Engrish as you get your ass whooped by a cheating turd.
In search of great justice, sailing on a sea of stars.

Sorry, another driving one:

Drivers who fail to grasp that indicators (blinkers) are there to indicate what you're about to do, rather than what you have already started doing, or just did. The obvious example: Simultaneously commencing indicating and changing lanes. Why bother indicating if you're giving drivers in the target lane no chance to react? I've also seen this on roundabouts where drivers token-indicate just after they've exited. :x

Arab drivers, barring Moh. He clearly wants to live. Got cut off three times this morning by three different, very arab looking people. This is sadly a common occurrence.

^^^ Dude. My sympathies.

I myself am irritated at the total inability and incompetence of the USPS website when it comes to handling addresses that use umlauts, diaeresis or other accents not used in English. Even when it's for a foreign address. I have to butcher "Vendelsö", "Läarjunge" and similar words if I want to send something to Sweden, Norway or Finland.

Yeah, the address is invalid because those must be some sort of extra-terrestrial characters, right? MURICA FTW.

Wow. I'm pretty sure those are even in Latin-1. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if some old-as-dirt system in the bowels of USPS can only handle EBCDIC or something.

I had actually never encountered leetspeak before until just now playing a random Left 4 Dead 2 game (haven't played in forever). I know the title encourages it in a way but in a stressful game h0w d4 F i5 4ny s4n3 p3rs0n supp0s3d t0 r34d nd und3r5t4nd th1s sh13t?

Note to self steer clear from old online games that little kids can easily afford with their weekly allowance...

Intel "Graphics" :(

As the proud owner of the last laptop ever made with a 12" 4:3 screen and a discreet GPU, I have for a while had my eye on the last laptop ever made with a 12" 4:3 screen period.

Someone who doesn't know better might have figured that the Intel GMA4500MHD, made with a 65nm process size and running at ~500MHz with DDR2-667 RAM connected, would at least be significantly better than the old GMA9x0 crap. And surely, by now it must have surpassed the Mobility Radeon 7500, which is basically a 150nm die shrink of the original ATI Radeon released in 2000? But I am here to tell you: No. It still struggles to run such ground-breaking 3D titles as World of Padman and Uwabami Breakers. WTF is wrong with Intel?

(Core2 SU9600 is pretty good though. It is twice as hot as the Pentium M causing the fan to run a lot more often but has potentially 2-4x the performance)

Aurgh.
There's a Vigatec FX2 on eBay that ends in a few days with no bids on it, and the seller won't ship outside of UK : /

Still, I will try to be understanding here. Not everyone wants to ship everywhere but...so close...and yet, so far away. :(

Nearly a month overdue, the final parts arrived (RAM + new thermal paste) and I finally installed the heatsink on the motherboard, and then the motherboard into the case.

I can't blame Noctua for their design much, because there's only so much you can do without making it much more expensive, but seriously - you have to line up two little spring-loaded screws perfectly with two little protruding screws. I turned and turned the included screwdriver steel bar thing trying to get a bite for a long time, and kept sliding the heatsink back and forth - no joy. Eventually, I gave up, removed the heatsink, smoothed out the paste, and a few repetitions of this after I was able to go through all the following steps with success: Remove ONE of the mounting bars (which is supposed to remain fixed on the motherboard CPU bracket mount before this step, but I think I had to remove it last time I installed one of these as well), connect it backwards and hanging loose to one of the fastening points on the motherboard, place the heatsink back on the CPU, and then fiddle around with the thumbscrews from the side. Then line up the other side and connect it (by the point you've done this it's not hard). This is the same damn type of cooler I have on my current CPU but it seems to get harder to install them every time I do it. I don't miss the Core 2 Duo bracket, though, which had a tension spring bracket or something and felt like you had damaged traces or cracked something when you installed it.

Aside from other random problems - installing and uninstalling the RAM sticks about 10000 times because I couldn't decide whether I could push them in around the bottom of the heatsink (I could) or whether I needed the extra working space (I did, again), getting the new Ceramique thermal paste in a huge 25g tube which was less than double the price of a tiny 2.7g tube of (old-fashioned) arctic silver 5 (argh, I wish I'd known that, but at least I've got paste for years to come, and some cleaner too for cleaning up some old heatinks on various systems, which was bundled with the AS5) - I then found another Noctua problem - there's no reference given to how high the fans are mounted by default! This is bad because I ended up having to remove both of them - there's two stacks of heatsink fins in this heatsink, with room for a fan inbetween. You have to remove this middle fan to install the heatsink. To use the motherboard's off-center fastening point (for connecting to the standoffs on the case) you have to remove the back heatsink, too. I wish I'd carefully counted how many fins down they had the brackets applied. It probably doesn't matter hugely where it is, but it's an annoyance. Hopefully I've made the right decision with having the fans blowing straight up, because I won't reinstall the damn heatsink again.

Noctua is super lame with their install guides. They have "for AMD" and "for Intel" sets which do not tell you anything about the purpose of the "common parts" including the extra cables (although I guess you shouldn't try to connect both fans through a split cable to the motherboard); ditto for the LGA2011 kit's instructions. They just leave off immediately after the physical install location. They also leave it up to you to discover the fan flow direction arrows, which are on the part of the fans underneath the heatsink (i.e. pointing toward the motherboard, instead of visible from above). Lots of stupid little things almost sink that design for me. I do like the low noise and great cooling though.

Anyway, now on to the great journey of finding a billion cables and installing everything. I also gotta figure out what to do with not one but maybe two old PCs. Trading station, maybe?
