Anger at finding out the truth is a perfectly normal reaction.

The 360 port (with Ketsupachi) looks and sounds so killer on my Windy2 in highres, I just haven't had the motivation (or wallet size) to attempt picking up this board. Someday though...

Congrats!

Spadgy, be sure to pick up the American Sammy version of Daioh PCB for that extra goodness of supporting a 6-button layout from the get-go. It surely won't dissapoint.

I'm in exactly the same boat, I've been digging the port on my EII so much it's granted me patience for a price drop. That said, it's definitely the last piece of the SH3 puzzle I'm really interested in, DFK BL owns hard.

Given time, it shall be more accessible monetary-wise to get an DDP-DFK BL PCB or full kit one of these days. Still is quite an experience to be able to play the PCB of DDP-DFK 1.5 variant indeed. For a lot of folks, it was their first time to try it out properly at the 2011 CAX show.

I really don't care for Black Label - just not my game. But I know it doesn't hold a candle to DoDonPachi.

DOJ kills it as well.

I prefer 1.5 to BL - not by much. I really didn't care for the Ketsui variant either.

It's almost too easy to control rank - although it gets tough when you max it out.

About the only cool thing is blasting through all that with a hyper.

Rinse, repeat.

I really like the bullets counting towards your hit counter in 1.5.

You're playing it the wrong way. DFK BL is balls to the wall awesome - you're not meant to control rank, you're meant to drive that shit into the red zone from the beginning to the end and let all hell break loose.
It's a little more complex than blasting through bullet storms with a hyper too - it's more a case of building the combo counter to a decent level and finding spots to soak bullets with the hyper (at max rank of course.)

I can honestly say DFK BL is my favourite Cave release since Espgaluda II. It utterly mutilates 1.5 it's so hardcore.

That said, it isn't that difficult. Recently I'm regularly deep into stage 5 on every go, and I don't feel it needed that much learning. It's hinged on using your hypers at a steady pace and in the right spots (getting caught without one when you need one is basically instant death.)

I think Yagawa's genius brilliantly re-engineered a lacklustre game into one of divinity.

My thoughts exactly. Too bad they won't release the Ketsui Style as PCB, I almost like it more than Ketsui.

I played the hell out of DFK 1.5, but I wasn't really playing it right either. It was the one Cave game that I enjoyed a lot with my kids, who are 5. With all the autobombs and such they could actually play with me, credit feed it, and have fun. I kind of miss it for that..

That being said, I paid the price for BL early on in hopes that they would tweak the game sufficiently. It was a leap of faith, and though I know we all probably have a tendency to try a bit harder when we overpay.. I was blown away by DFK BL. I just love the game and it's still one of my favorites.

Hey, it's all a matter of opinion and tastes.

Glad you guys like BL, it wasn't my bag.

Neither is Galuda 2, lol.

Not to encourage the off-topic too much, but does BL have remade bullet patterns, etc.?
In general, does BL feel like a Yagawa game, or does it retain the Cave "feel"? Personally I could never adapt to the patterns in Pink Sweets and gave up on the first stage.

Feels like Yagawa. Not played enough of 1.5 to comment, but the bullets mainly come towards you :D
