My copy arrived today (having only just arrived in the country yesterday evening!) Must say I'm very impressed with 360 mode. I just thought it would be like arcade with a new ship and incessant chattering but it's actually got a decent and pretty unique scoring system that's easy to get into. Changing the screen size immediately did away with all the faff on the borders and the voices aren't too bad if you turn them down a bit. I like hearing 'hype-hype-hyper system ready!' so I didn't turn them off completely.

Arcade mode kicked my ass. I guess having watched enough pcb players make it look easy it was inevitably going to be a rude awakening. Similar experience with 1.5 but hypers seem to charge much quicker. These modes are going to be a serious challenge.

Not given novice a go yet but it's not because of pride I can tell you.

Also I'd really like to know how to confirm what team you're in. I saw 'D' when I first signed up but I don't know if that was just the 'D is in first place message' as above.

Finally if anyone is still doubting I can confirm that the peasant edition works on PAL 360s.

If you are playing it tate'd on a crt then leave the zoom at 100% for both horizontal and vertical dimensions then adjust your monitor settings to make it fill the screen. If the zoom is left at 100 then the smoothing option has zero effect whether on or off because it doesn't have to do any scaling making the image much sharper. If you adjust the zoom even a little you can see the image go to shit.

At least it didn't freeze permanently ..

You can definitely tell they were rushed to even get this thing out the door, including the PCB version.

Yeah, even the interface seems to be sloppily done compared to their earlier releases. I've been fucking around this morning with the Score/Input Display windows and I can consistently show that turning them on produces more in-game slowdown than when they're off. I've never noticed this with DFK or any other release that has this as an option.

That sounds like an unfortunate score issue, as the game would be significantly easier with all that extra slowdown.

I love how this guy can't handle the stage 1 and 2 midbosses but no miss no bombs stage 5 for 60k hits. Guess we know how he's spent his time with the port so far!

Was practicing this boss when suddenly... sorry for the shitty quality of my mobile's camera.

When I resumed the boss magically appeared

That's pretty great. Can you still hit him, or did his hitbox fail to load as well?

I think I did for the few moments it took me to recover from the surprise and pause the game. Pitty the boss reappeared when I resumed the game or I would have taken a video of a full fight against an invisible boss. :D

I know this may be reaching... but that same exact thing happened to the first version of DoDonPachi for Android when I put it on my Nexus 7 before that device was officially supported by Cave. I had written to them and mentioned it at the time and they acknowledged the issue but said they just hadn't tested it on that device since it hadn't been released in Japan (at the time).

I wouldn't be super shocked if it's the same type of issue here, in which case it should be hard for them to track it down and fix it.

Obviously I'm just guessing here.. but figured I'd mention I'd seen that in one of their games before and they fixed it in the update immediately following it.

Got my copy today

All I can say is wow, caves best! At last the ddp game we all hoped daifukatsu would be(although I still do like dfk)

I've played around 15 credits or so, stage 3 boss on my best run. It's pretty tough.
I personally love the soundtrack. Love the breakdowns on the mid bosses especially.
Bravo cave

On a side note what are the voice actors jabbering about when they say what sounds like.."glass eye".
A girl says "seriously glass eye" at the start of a run in dfk
It gets a mention at the start of stage 2 sdoj
And I'm sure I've heard it in other cave games as well. Just curious is all lol.
Also my girlfriend pointed out that on game over in sdoj it sounds like she says "six inch spiders" lol
Can't stop hearing that now.

At the start of stage 2 the operator says:

Mission kaishi desu! Kyojuuku o nukete shinkou shite kudasai!

Commencing mission! Please avoid (damaging) the residential area as you (commence your) attack!

The "glass eye" is probably kudasai, which means please in Japanese. It's a very common word so you'll hear it all the time.

I got garbled graphics at the start of stage 2 too. Re-installing the game seems to have cleared it up for me though.

More details on the games patch, google translate seems to indicate they've also fixed the invisible enemy and freeze glitches?

They say that they're going to reset the personal scoreboards (team rankings are unaffected) once they release the patch sometime in mid to late June. Changes with the patch include:

- online rankings
- bug that freezes the game momentarily when collecting a ton of items
- training mode bug where restarts don't use your chosen settings

They're also looking into the invisible enemies that results from the game not loading properly and the saving in Challenge mode.

Thanks for the translation, NTSC-J. Glad to hear they'll be working on this stuff, it'd be a shame for it to go unaddressed.

I was wondering why the leader boards etc wasn't working for me.
The Ethernet port on the 360 stopped working and it seems to be the only way to connect to the internet with it.
Didn't notice it earlier as it seems to of stopped working at the same time I had got Saidaioujou.

Have tried changing the Ethernet cable and using the same cable on the PC and works fine.
Looking at the LED's on the switch they only come on for about 1 - 2 seconds and goes off again when the 360 is connected into it.

The whole patching thing seems to have made developers somewhat lazy/complacent imo.

Disappearing bosses, weird resolution or half hour load times? 'fuck it - print the disc and we will just release a patch next week'

In the old days you would buy your console game fully polished with next to no glitches.

having said that i absolutely love this fucking game

OST is growing on me. I'm starting to like the stage 4 music, and it seems to be a arranged version of the stage 1 track in ddpdoj.

Shop item - hide operator or whatever its called doesnt shut up the jabbering, only hides the pshysical image of the ai operator on screen. How do I shut her up completely?

Go to sound options and turn "Voice" to 0
