Magnetic Fields - Distortion
Carbonas - s/t (pa, madsteel, think you'd like this)
Superdrag - headtrip in every key

After listening to several tracks over the years I've come to the conclusion that Fugazi pretty much sucks. Having ethics is nice and all, but if you can't bring the rawk, get outta my stereo.

I always hated these guys yet still saw 'em twice. Suckage confirmed.

I think I tried the Carbonas but didn't like. I can't remember so I'll try again.

*edit*If by Carbonas you mean these dudes with the saxophone from Spain: http://www.myspace.com/carbonas
Then you have a total winner. Which is cool because a sax (or any horn) can easily be the kiss of death. Especially these days.

But I typed in "The Carbonas" first and was presented with an American group with a faggy singer. Please tell that ain't the one.

*second edit* I fogot there was another Carbonas from Atlanta. They beat the faggy ones by a mile but they don't really approach the Spaniards.

Yeah - I love Minor Threat so damn much, and all the associated bands that aren't arrogant hardliners, but Fugazi always seemed like a let down after Minor Threat's energy and Iain McKay's incredible way with what he approaches.

I still like Jane Doe the most out of all their albums. :) Pretty tight band to see live too.
my favorite still stands at forever comes crashing.

they recently opened for mastodon right near me, but i couldn't get the night off work. one of the few shows coming through my city that would have been worth seeing too

stuff i'm listening too:

69 eyes - angels / devils : really lame, and kinda fun

catharsis - passion : can't believe how great they are

unsane - lambhouse : compilation, but i can't find the full length albums, so this will do for now

celtic frost - morbid tales : fun as hell, i like to sing on the walk home from work

voivod - war and pain : really like it, its a terrible mess :D

agoraphobic nosebleed - pcp tornado : fun, quick listen (crazy about the bonus tracks) "thinning the herd" is a favorite

venetian snares - hospitality : really enjoying it. wondering if anyone can give me some guidance as far as highlights of his catalogue

----

also looking for some high-quality classical "best of" compilations of particular composers, i know i like some of the obvious ones (mozart, chopin, and blah). welcoming any suggestions as well. :D

gracias chums

Any reason for the best ofs? I don't know any, but doubt you could go wrong with Prokofiev or Debussy if that's not obvious enough.

I haven't found it yet but I like the first song on their myspace. Interesting song structure (no verse/chorus/verse) and slick 80's pop sounding production (slap bass, etc)

haven't checked out the recommended fugazi yet

I'm sure you're talking about the Atlanta band, who I think are pretty decent. The "Blackout" 7" is worth a listen, too.

Hey, did you check out the Hex Dispensers? Quality stuff, dammit:

I just got into them. Quite new to it having come from a early hardcore punk and speedy thrash direction. Bloody love it though. Any similar recommendations?

Check out Fuck... I'm Dead. They're like a more death metal version of ANb.

huan shi kuang xiang - luan shi wu shuang

I bought this one off eBay, never heard of them, but turns out it's Chinese power metal that doesn't completely suck. Still cheesy as expected of power metal though.

Wow, they have a myspace!

Well...I was really enjoying Miles Davis's Agartha but once again, crack heads broke into my car and stole my stereo, and guess where disc 2 was?

Well I liked Agartha, but probably not enough to purchase it again.

I bought a single once because it was by a band called Squirrel Nut Zippers. Shame they were shit.

Same happened with Atari Teenage Riot though, and they are amazing....
