The model I use for retrogames is UE32H6200 and it's compatible with both ossc's modes 240p x3 and 480p x2Harrumph wrote:Yes it would be very helpful, please report your model in this thread!sk8er000 wrote: If can be helpful I can post my TV's model, for now it support's the 240p/288p x3 mode and 480p/576p x2 mode.

Does it also work for 576i passthough (and also how is 576i deinterlacing on the OSSC)? thanks!ZellSF wrote:

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
576i passthrough works, 576 deinterlacing is the same as 480i: effectively just a simple bob deinterlace.RocketBelt wrote:Does it also work for 576i passthough (and also how is 576i deinterlacing on the OSSC)? thanks!ZellSF wrote:

Testing 480i passthrough I was almost convinced the OSSC had a bug as 240p was treated as 480i, then I realized my PS2 converts 240p to 480i on its component output. Sort of curious if all PS2 models do that.
Can't go with RGB yet either as I discovered my PS RGB SCART cable suffers from composite video sync interference patterns. Have to order some cables soon...
Will test some modelines soon to see if the VP50 accepts clean 1280x960 and see what part of OSSC's signal it has problems with. I tried already with a Nvidia GPU, but getting a Nvidia GPU to send a signal not accepted by EDID... Well it's not happening.
Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
no, that's not true. All PS2 models output 240p perfectly fine through component. Both for PS1 and for PS2 games that support 240p output. What games and which PS2 model are you using ?then I realized my PS2 converts 240p to 480i on its component output. Sort of curious if all PS2 models do that.
Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
Mine has an old modchip that forces 480i output on all PS1 games, whether it's RGB or component, maybe a similar case here, early modchips were shite, dunno...

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
wow. never heard of that. I have 10 (or so) PS2 units. Half of them chipped and all of them output 240p just fine.Mine has an old modchip that forces 480i output on all PS1 games
Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
Yes that made me kind of furious when I saw it, also dunno if it's related more to the model (fat PAL 50004) or the chip, but it's one of those spinning all CD format games to absolutely insane RPM speeds to the point the console can't read/load properly and shakes like a washing machine.
I've owned another older model with a very early modchip do even worse overall.

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
I have succesfully used Custom resolution utility with an ATI GPU to test the modelines on my monitor. It says it also supports Nvidia GPUs.ZellSF wrote: Will test some modelines soon to see if the VP50 accepts clean 1280x960 and see what part of OSSC's signal it has problems with. Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
That usually happens to some degree. Also, it's not like I stop you buying after 48 hours, I just open the orders up to more folks.eric90000 wrote:I wonder how many people on this round of the waiting list either won't purchase, or simply not see their email within 48 hours.....maybe people further than 100 on the list might get a chance to buy this time?
If you're number 27 or lower on the list and you haven't had your e-mail, better message me if you want a unit.

I'm wondering if this is a side effect of the early PS2 mod installs that would hardwire a link on the motherboard to get rid of the Greenscreen mode the
DVD RGB output would have.
Later mod chips removed the function via the Modchip FW changing BIOS values and not hardwired
This is circa 2002, NEO2, and maybe before MESSIAH mod chips, so my memory is understandably hazy

Yes,
https://www.videogameperfection.com/for ... st/page/2/
They have the 1st 100 units
They have emailed the 1st 25 peoeple in the pre-order queue
I guess to break up the emailing and "messing around" with any issues, so any issues only affect a few people I'd suspect
It seems like the best way to do this process, I just wish it was mentioned up front in the newsletter that this was how they where going to do it
to save people refreshing their email every 5 mins just in case they miss the payment details request email....

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
It's probably best to post questions related to order queue on a dedicated thread on VGP forums as it's not always easy to spot such questions here among other discussion. E-mailing any ordering details unfortunately is quite hit and miss these days as some mail servers downright blacklist your domain upon receiving such e-mail, or a few copies of it. Yahoo, Hotmail and Web.de have been the worst based on my experience, while other big ones like GMail are content to just throw mails into junkbox.h1ghju1ce wrote://Sigh

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
There was an error when I exported the newsletter list and the order was mixed up. I've re-exported it and started again, subscribers 3 to 28 should all have had an e-mail now, plus a few lucky people within the first 100 or so got theirs earlyI was the 84th person on the list and I got my email on Saturday.

Yeah maybe Sony hired them as subcontractors to produce the French PAL models, that would explain that, while of course in Germany they got guys like Bosch and Miele, so 'Deutsche Qualität' (®).fafangus wrote:Are you sure it's a Sony ? not a Brandt or VedetteXyga wrote:Yes that made me kind of furious when I saw it, also dunno if it's related more to the model (fat PAL 50004) or the chip, but it's one of those spinning all CD format games to absolutely insane RPM speeds to the point the console can't read/load properly and shakes like a washing machine.

My OSSC shipped, and I am fucking excited.
Finally gonna be able to play my older systems again. It's been like... 2 years since my XRGB kicked the bucket, and I never replaced it until now.

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
I'm sorry about the n00bness, but what is the exact purpose of this contraption?
Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
On the basic level, it takes in an analog 240p or 480i video signal via RGB SCART or component video, and it outputs a digital 480p video signal via DVI (easily convertible to HDMI). It does this with very little latency.AlexSkylark wrote:I'm sorry about the n00bness, but what is the exact purpose of this contraption?

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
So with the interlaced passthrough options available, is there any issues with running the OSSC in to the framemeister for 480i deinterlacing? Does the Mini not like deinterlacing 480i content over HDMI maybe?
Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
Great work on the latest firmware by the way Marqs. I know they're not for everybody but personally I'm loving the 480i alternating scanlines, especially how they shift from static to alternating depending on the output. PS1/2 is looking incredibly sharp on my PC CRT (and very good on my plasma also). Really looking forward to the advanced timing tweaker now. As the firmware marches forward, the OSSC truly is becoming the mutt's nuts .

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
So, sorry if this has been asked a million times already, but... would plugging a Gamecube, Xbox, or Wii into the OSSC via component yield a better picture than just plugging those systems directly into an HDTV?

Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
Greatly depends on your TV's scaler. The OSSC makes compromises, though, in return for low latency. If you just want a nice picture, there are better boxes.Chacranajxy wrote:So, sorry if this has been asked a million times already, but... would plugging a Gamecube, Xbox, or Wii into the OSSC via component yield a better picture than just plugging those systems directly into an HDTV?
Re: DIY video digitizer & scandoubler
I would disagree a little bit, most of the processing TVs do to a signal doesn't really improve the quality especially when it comes to video game graphics. less processing often results in a much better picture for games.NormalFish wrote:Greatly depends on your TV's scaler.
