Just the fact that there's terms like "Regular limited edition" being thrown around makes me want to laugh .. >_>

It sure made me buy the "plain regular edition", just to be different  After all my objective is 1cc while drunk, pew pew and brightly colored ships in space.

That means it's probably not really air mail, but SAL.
Even SAL isn't 8 weeks. SAL is ~2 weeks.

8 weeks is surface mail or something or Airmail/SAL but your order wasn't ship straight away, so those 8 weeks don't represent the transit time. SAL is just non-priority airmail, so your parcel is being transported on whatever available space remain on aircrafts, hence why a bit slower than "normal" airmail.

Am I the only one who thinks the music is very mediocre in this game? Only one that i REALLY like is the boss theme. That track is awesome and almost makes up for the rest of the OST.

Novice mode is no joke for a beginner like myself. I remember clearing DDP DFK Novice on my first go, but in DDP SDOJ I get destroyed in stage 4

It's not just you .. maybe he just didn't have the time to do something proper, though. This game barely managed to get finished and released in the first place.

Yeah, pretty low quality fir a Namiki soundtrack. Why did he do such a mediocre job, I can't understand it... it doesn't make justice to DOJ, Esp II or Garegga soundtracks. Maybe he was ill payed?

And yeah, this novice is a complete surprise for me... Cave's has allways been easier than even a 2hu easy mode so suddebly getting a decent novice mode is frankly a good sign.

They are good shmuping tunes but take then individually and they pale in comparison to Namiki's earlier stuff.

BTW, who arranged the 360 soundtrack?

I really like Stage 1, and the boss theme is all right, and stage 4 is pretty decent too. Other than that, yeah, it's somewhat generic, though it's been growing on me slowly. Definitely not up to the quality of some of his earlier stuff, though.

I think the voices were only meant as a selling point. The question is... will they do it again? I'm ok as long as they create a good script next time... but something of this level again? please,CAVE, no. Even ZUN creates better stories for his games.

Can people play team versus locally or is that an online only thing?

Because it might be a great way to get my friends to play more than one game.

Tokyo-J wrote:So far this is the weakest in the series. Had to turn off the Anime Girl voices as it was drilling my brain. This game just does not flow like the others. Feels rushed and cheap. If this is how Cave goes out they are sad. They would of been better off releasing Ibara Kuro / Esprade or something like that.

Glad I did not drop the money on the PCB.

Will try again later but am not enthusiastic about my opinion changing.
I take back this post. Everything except for the Voices drilling holes in my brain.

This game is AWESOME pure adrenaline. I think the problem lies with the fact I picked a fully clothed LOLI at the beginning and when I chose the Half Clothed one it was a way better experience. I think once I pick the one in the Bikini it will be MANIC as hell and if there is a Unlockable NEKKID LOLI then it is full on BULLET HELL!

J/K

Damn fine game and a sure step up from Dai Fukkatsu.

You mean score attack team? It's online only, it assigns you a team (Team E represent!) and then you play through a score attack and it appears to aggregate everyone's score into an overall team score. That's pretty much it as far as I've seen.

So this game... I've been playing mostly 360 mode so far since I think it will be an easy clear. Only thing I can't beat yet it the final boss, but probably I will have it in the bag by the end of the day. Rank system seems well designed in it to me. If you purposely play against the rank 360 mode is pretty beginner friendly, and if you play for score it gets pretty rough. Seems like the rank is actively tailoring the game to particular skill levels rather that just punishing you for surviving too long.

I have mixed feelings about the moe though. DDP has always stuck me as a hardcore space shooter about the ultimate pilots flying to their deaths. Sure DOJ and DFK had some moe visuals, but it didn't really define the game. SDOJ though is one of the absolute most moe shooters I have ever played. I can actually understand most of whats being said in 360 mode, and what it is is a 20 minute long moe manzai skit. To me it doesnt really fit my image of DDP. Even the overall colors of the game are very pastel. On the other hand though, shamefully maybe, I actually like it for what it is; Saya is seriously cute. Maybe DDP wasn't the best choice for it though.

It seems like making every enemy drop large stars during a hyper is the biggest change in Version 1.5. Being able to time a huge recharge off of large clusters of popcorn enemies instead of being limited to certain bullet cancel points makes it even more similar to Deathsmiles.

I want my copy ;~;

Besides the issue with the menus going off the screen and the ranking issues,
people are mentioning that the controls feel laggy (turning off video smoothing seems to reduce this),
there is more slowdown than the PCB, and the timing of the enemy shots seems off:
at Rank 0 enemies shoot too early and/or with faster bullet speed.
Maybe this is related to the difference in refresh rate?

Still waiting for my copy so I can't comment yet.

It could be me, but I think they purposely turned up the voice volume by default. The music and sfx are at a whisper compared to it.

Is it like this in the PCB? I'm watching some arcade videos and it doesn't seem like the voices are that loud. I'm curious to know what sound settings people have, if you guys have adjusted it.

I noticed the huge difference in the voice volume too, they "talk over" everything else. No it isn't like that on the pcb.

Not to sound stupid by asking. But is this game 2 players or one player only?

Yes, you can adjust BGM, SE, and Voice independently.

The back of the box says 2 players, but I don't see where the option is in the actual game.

2 Player except in Xbox360 mode. You have the choice to Co-op with the AI with the shop option, btw.

I notice this only happens on Hyper levels 6 to 10. Still, its a sweet change. I found a one use for recharging like that in Stage 3 before the midboss.

Is anyone noticing any additional game lag when they enable the Score/Hiscore displays + Input Displays? Played as B-Shot in Arcade HD, and when I tried again with them turned off the game was slowing down noticeably less as far as I could tell. I was getting way more slowdown than there ought to have been when using rapid shot in stage 1.

The sound balance is... certainly interesting. The voices are so high and the music so low (love that stage 5) that I had to set music to 100, sound to 60 and voices to 35/0 :p

Holy shit. Even the menu is lagging. I'm currently paused in Arcade HD at the start of Stage 2, go to the menu and turn on all Score Detail and Input Display options: look at how the menu starts stuttering during transitions. o_o

Having to deal with a shitter interface than was in Futari/DFK is annoying, but the gameplay is great. Love the shottypes, especially how the Shot and Laser are still good enough to be playable (unlike in DaiOuJou where a lack of spread can be very bad, and Shotia's laser movement speed is the worst thing ever).

Gave it a go today.

visually, like DFK, this is a mess. Why does everything have to glow? It's a good thing the backgrounds are so generic because you'll never even see them under all the glowing crap on screen. I think the art director had ADD, everything in this game is flashing, blurring, or glowing. The bosses are not very interesting to look at either.

Aside from the art, the hasn't done much for me yet. I'll have to give it a few more gos before I can make final judgement, but it just didn't seem very...fun. It seems like they forgot what made the older CAVE titles fun in the first place and decided to spam the screen with noise. Noise that detracts from the action on the screen. The shooting is smooth, the dodging feel a little twitchy to me at this point. maybe I'll get used to it after a while, I don't want to write the game off quite yet.

Boss music is great though, really a fun track.

In a way I hope that CAVE never makes another Mushi, or ESP. This title doesn't give me confidence that they can match the previous games in those series and I'd rather have them end on high notes.
