Not much of an increase, but an impressive game! I died, count them, three times on the 1-8 boss due to bad positioning, and feeling demoralized. Decided to continue into the second loop just for some practice, and made it to 2-5 on one life and just a few bombs. I am really getting the hang of the bosses of 2-1 through 2-4. I kid you not, I was in the process of securing the tech bonus on the 2-5 boss when I died, again, due to bad positioning. So much fun, though! I'm coming for you, Wen.

This score increase is due to nailing the double tech bonus on 1-7. It kills me that I keep dying on the 2-5 boss, since he's not necessarily difficult. The problem is that I always make it to 2-5 on my last life, and I'm trying as hard as I can to conserve the bomb stock I have for my first time in 2-6, since I have a feeling that I could beat that stage on my first try with a couple of bombs to back me up. Ah well, #2! Where are you at, Plasmo? I need some more competition. ;]

Oh shit! I realize I just posted, but this is a celebration! First time to 2-6, complete with an extra life in stock! Would have definitely made 2-7, but I accidently triggered loop 2 Geobite. Whoops!

I sold my PCB so I won't be playing this game anytime soon. But even then, I didn't really liked the loop that much anyway, go and hunt WEN, should be competition enough.
Getting an ALL in a Psikyo game always is an incredible achievement, good luck!

That was quick. You sounded like you were having fun. Why the quick turnaround?

Well, I was having fun but:
1)There was no competition.
2)I couldn't see myself ever clearing 2-5. (mostly due to tank boss)
And then comes 2-6, 2-7 and 2-8, all complete nightmares probabaly. I'm not very good at loops.

It's really a great game, but in the end it would've just collected dust.

The tank boss isn't really as hard as I originally thought before I learned it. Admittedly, I still have to bomb once or twice on him 90% of the time, but that is mainly due to the timing of the fly-in popcorn enemies, which is just as much a problem for all of the bosses of the second loop. Those little shits are, hands down, what make the second loop so difficult.

Awesome score. While in Japan I had the pleasure of watching an ALL run with the F-117. The player actually choose Geobite, and he killed it super quick while point-blanking it with the charge shot.

Seems 2-7 with all the popcorn enemies and their suicide bullets are the hardest part. The player I saw had to use 3-4 bombs there because it was easy getting trapped.

I credit-fed and practiced 2-7 a couple of times. It was actually not as bad as I thought it would be with the X-36; just requires a bunch of smooth cutbacks. I imagine it would be nearly impossible to no-bomb with a slower ship, or a ship without a homing shot, though.

I made it to 2-6 again today, but bit it on Cross Blade, thanks to the popcorns. I'm so close to 2-7!

The F-117 is a very fun ship because of it's point blanking abilities (it's normal shot point blank is crazy strong because of those mini-bombs it tosses out). But its SO SLOW. But it does have an instant-effect bomb to bail you out of quick problems.

No-miss to 2-6 boss. Died on the first form of the final boss. No complaints, though.

Thanks! I know I can get the ALL now, it is just a matter of making very few mistakes.

Code: Select all

2. Necronopticous 2,161,000 X-36 2-7
3. Plasmo 1,757,800 X-36 2-8
Small mistake in the stages. ;]

Bah! I thought this was the game for sure. Made it to the last boss with a life and three bombs in stock, but bit it due to nerves. I was just about to take him into his final form.

Slight score increase.

WOOOO!! Congrats Necronopticous!!! You whirled through this pretty quickly. Nice job. Now you gotta take that top spot :) I'm sure you'll get it, you improve rather quickly at this game.

What were your stats at the end?

Thanks!

0 lives, 0 bombs, 3 power-ups. I just barely squeezed by, narrowly dodging the last attack with no extra bombs or lives to back me up. Upping my score at this point is pretty much just all about having some lives and bombs in stock the next time I get the ALL. The end-game bonuses get pretty crazy. I'm going to be taking a break before pursuing that, though. I have completed my primary goal. I am really hoping that others will jump in and start seriously challenging this game soon. This board is sorely lacking the activity it deserves.
