This is my idea of fusion (like in DBZ) of a western porn star and a Japanese AV one.

I don't want SF to become Marvel now, heh.
I think that can't really be stopped anymore, just think of Oni's air dashes in SF4.

Supposedly, all the female characters in Tekken are based on various women he's dated

That Idolm@ster fighter might actually end up being a thing.

The guy is a true playa, unlike the fans who needed a video game to reaffirm their flaky masculinity. Since more footages dropped I looked around for more insight on the new system, but all I saw were sob stories from heartbroken, confused boys that make the DOA crowd look tame in comparison.

Apparently she is asia/europe exclusive, can't find harada's tweets atm

Also XRD's is easily the best fg port thus far, the tutorials are incredibly detailed (they teach you throw and jump install wtf)

He's just mad that DOA5 has been siphoning out the Tekken playerbase (myself included as it turns out). Problem is he doesn't understand that moe is not what's attracting most of them, it's the gameplay and generally superior (though definitely not perfect) balance.

I don't see how she's any more ridiculous than the other Tekken characters. I thought it was just Lili in a costume at first.

Wait what about the fabled superior limb-based combat
Glad to hear about DOA5's success though. That game deserved it.

The region restriction would be a poor move. The roster wasn't that big to begin with, and he's about to cave in to the demands of a bunch of SJWs and non-players? If this somehow gains momentum it's entirely possible that the other two will be gone as well since their reception is just as shitty.

Harada is just being a goof and probably trolling to drum up publicity, whether good or bad, for his game. One way or another, Bandai-Namco will force the character into the US console release.

DOA5 has improved considerably since the initial vanilla release, but the series will always remain a poor man's Virtua Fighter. The VF guest characters in DOA were handled quite badly, with recycled voice clips and only a fraction of their full movelists from VF5:FS represented (Akira in particular feels quite off). The absence of Itagaki's creative force is also still felt.

Since I'm a sucker for Virtua Fighter, I'll gladly eat up a poor man's VF as well.
I disagree about Itagaki's influence. He might have done a thing or two for NG, but every DOA he touched has been kind of a disaster. Watching a 5U round after coming back from a DOA4 session is a pretty enlightening experience.

Played Unko and Xrd.
Unko is shit as predicted.
GG is good, really good, but the new Roman Cancel ruins the game IMO. Using it to do weird mixups feels broken as fuck, and you can even halt the rival's inputs with it. That bullet time is the most stupid idea Ishiwatari has ever had.
All shit aside, I really liked the game, it's not as slow as I thought it would be and Ky's new moves are awesome (DAT LAUNCHER!).

In case Dengeki wasn't enough for you, Nitroplus is getting its own crossover fighter (and apparently it's not actually their first one). The Arcana Heart guys are working on it.

Milestone tried to port that game a few years ago (and they died in the process).
The original PC game is godawful, hope they can do something decent with it.

No, that was Instant Kills winning the entire match and being much easier to land in the original Guilty Gear.

YRCs will likely stay, but I predict Danger Time will be removed in the next major revision of Xrd.
Nitroplus Blasters: Heroine Infinite Duel
Not even a single male character? And since when is Saber a Nitro+ character? This is doomed to be more mediocre nonsense like Dengeki banking on waifu obsession.

I suggested Hatsune Miku should be included in SFV. Can you imagine the drama storm? World calamity level fallout.

What the hell are you expecting? I'm seriously curious.
Maybe something that doesn't look as generic? I already wasn't a big fan of the approach they took with SFIV (was especially disappointed by Ikeno's artworks) and though it seems that they started from scratch with SFV concerning graphics, it's hard for me to acknowledge that fact, when the result is just a grittier and darker look that looks as boring and uninspired stylistically. To be honest I don't know how you can't be disappointed by this aspect when you look at the history of great artists and styles that franchise had during the 90s and see how Arcsys on the other hand nailed it recently with Xrd when it comes to transitions from 2D to the third dimension.
quash wrote:I just hope it's a better game than SFIV was. Faster walk speeds, one-button throws and less vortex bullshit, please.
One-button throws? Please no. Only makes stuff less precise.

RIP Street Fighter.
I know that the post isn't meant that seriously but I think that "aircombo" is just Chun's stepkicks and concerning the special afterwards, since there is a small cut between it and the kicks, I wonder if it even belongs to the same combo (and even if so, it wouldn't be that different from a cancel into an air tatsu out of a jumping normal). Those OTGs look really weird though.

It'd also guarantee Capcom 60 more of my dollars for the sheer chutzpah/hardcore-trolling on display.

Depends on the game. They work well for SFIII, but flashy, high-speed fighters like MvC2 and GGXX would be awful with throws that require both two buttons and a direction. I don't even think that Accent Core should have added throw escapes (they've been removed from Xrd).

Blazblue is slow enough that two-button throws aren't a detriment.

Sure. The zoning and speed of those games works differently which is why it fits better in them. Was specifically referring to SF with that. Though with 3rd at least you don't even need a directional input. ;)
Another factor would be the loss of a whiff animation which you can punish btw. which isn't a minor thing.

I rolled my eyes when I first saw Lucky Chloe, but I'm really pissed off that she's being taken out in the localization because of the usual bitching and moaning.

I absolutely cannot stand censorship, whether it be for political reasons or for "cultural" reasons, and besides that, I would take moe girly girls over 'Murica macho marines any day of the week.

Also American players would be at a massive disadvantage in tournaments if they get matched up against her with no technical knowledge or experience with her...

Really hoping Harada is just fucking with us.

So I've never played a Guilty Gear game, and that Xrd game is coming out just in time for Christmas, so I'll probably be picking that up.

Really mad that I can't use my 360 sanwa stick with my ps4 because of Sony's 3rd party hardware lockout though :|
I heard there was a promo gamepad though; how would I get that in the US?

You would have to import the JP Limited Edition (PS4 only).

Didn't see any other word of it in the thread, but King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition is finally getting a release outside of arcades, on Steam.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/222420

Hopefully it's a good port. Netcode I'm not expecting miracles from but it's being handled by the company behind the port and not SNK so who knows, could be decent enough.

If you've never played any gg games before, xrd is the best to start with, the tutorials are the best i've ever seen in a fighting game
