I remember walking into a video store in 1983 and this poster was hanging from the ceiling (the place had high ceilings), it was so bad-ass. What a year to be in a video store. I was 6 or 7 and these horror movie posters scared the crap out of me .

Especially this one:

Same, I slept with the lights on for a while after encountering the 80s' rather fucking terrifying boxarts n' posters! The back cover of Star Crystal with one of the alien's dessicated victims haunted me for a bit.

(while ransacking the ship's datafiles, he happens across a bible and becomes a Good Boi 3; cue the tbh quite lovely ending theme by "Indira," aka Stefanianna "Daphne" Christopherson from OG Scooby Doo! well I thought it was lovely until she hit the high notes at the end as I was typing this, still, not bad overall!)

Then I got a bit older and by similar mechanism did a lot of jerking off via the action aisle! Image Image

"REVENGE ISNT ALL HES AFTER" That's right! He wants some pussy, too! Image Speaking of Scanners, I didn't remember Michael Ironside on this one! :o Or his fellow Excellent Cult Michael, Mr. "Streets of Fire" Pare, for that matter! Ironside surely makes an even more terrifying cuck than Christopher Walken in View To A Kill

Arguably my favourite movie poster. It nails the movie so well! And what a movie!

Image
Only came to see this middle of last year, alongside other Altman+Gould flicks, California Split and M.A.S.H. This was probably my favourite of the three (and that ending!). CS was an enjoyable ride but M.A.S.H left me awkwardly cold. Once it had made its point (which it did very well, very early), the rest of it felt like a dated Porky's sequel and I became numb to its whacky antics. I acknowledge this may have been the intent, and feel harsh judging it on the basis of my not being sufficiently entertained. That's just the way it went down.

God fuckin damn, that newer D.A.R.Y.L. one is shite. :o Middling tagline aside, the original's an arresting image that's aged more gracefully that the 80s computer fiction norm. Always liked the juxtaposing effect of the Jetsons. I remember being a little kid, like five or so, and wondering why a random movie was "allowed" to borrow them, moreover in a relatively sinister image.
the tagless VHS box I recalled
