Bahaha.. aaahh.. right. So I was playing Grindstormer for a good while.. looking at the boards thinking "Wow, I may place for the team this time!" Then I started to wonder.. "wait.. how am I doing so well?" (It was around 500k, not amazing, but relatively *much* higher than I'd been playing in other rounds). So that gnawed for a bit.. then I decided to re-read the rules.
Right. It's pretty impressive how much harder this one is. Will hopefully get time to try some more.

Actually, the stage 2 boss is giving me more trouble than either of them. The bosses don't seem to be the main problem anyway, though. If I screw up, it's usually during the stages.

Just curious, can you elaborate? Does it have to do with the mame+buffer patch, or is there something fishy about his score? Or did you ask him?

Reading the thread it's not that clear to me, probably because it's 1:30am and I've been taking it in the ass (with full force) by this damn second loop way too many times.

You can glitch the game to make you invincible.

Seriously?

Anyway I'd like to hear more about invincibility bug. I mean has it been reproduced on other MAME builds without the lagless patch? If not I definitely think the score should be removed.

Yes, Zerst has said that he had it happen to him as well. I've tried reproducing it a few times, I can't figure out how I did it. I'll have to discuss it with him some to try and figure out what triggered it, as I'm fairly curious.

For some reason it didn't bring up the screen with the highscores, atleast I took a screenshot there, I think it's because I had a lot of credits inserted.
Also how does the scoring work in this? I'm probably around 140% in this run and my score is shit, and the only thing I missed was the 1-5 no miss bonus because I missed 2 crystals, how is it possible that with only one bonus that is less worth than 300k I have 2m less than people that died on 122%? I also milked a lot the credits ship from stage 3 of both loops, specially the second.

I will score with my big hard thick erect throbbing veiny fingers !

The game gives you an extra 5m for no-missing the first loop (w/ all crystals) and another 10m for doing the same in the 2nd loop. It's pretty fucked up but that's how it is.

It's just the test switch getting triggered by some odd condition in the game, possibly involving resets, sending it into invincible debug mode. It obviously shouldn't be allowed.

I've mostly been practicing since my last score, which has gotten me used to the difficulty of the later stages but left me with little time to get them down consistently :( No clear for me this week.

Now that I get how the game works, time to break it with missiles! Boy does losing a life put you in unwinnable situations.
