How do you know it's 18 pounds?
That's probably the WEIGHT of the package, not the price...

This is from CAVE's facebook

Hello CAVE, I know that Death Smiles is coming to Europe by Rising Star Games but I have a question.

Will it have the same slowdowns as the Japanese version or is it like the USA one?

CAVE
At the request of Rising Star Games, we have altered the slowdowns in the European release to be closer to the Japanese version. We have also removed heavy accents from certain character's dialogues.

They could have just gone with the easy option and released the American disc but as they really have listened to the fans and gone made a superb effort. I'll be buying this now (just wish it had a faceplate!).

Just thought I'd add that HMV list the release date as 25th February 2011. All looking quite impressive.

Cave actually listens :o Let's hope that they've learned to not touch the slowdown in future localizations too.

If only Aksys would bother Cave to patch the NA version :(

A patch which makes the game run much much worse. I dunno if the people who'd be happy would outweigh the people who were mad, to be honest.

I think I'll speak for everyone in the NA region by saying, "You lucky European motherfuckers!"

It is nice to see you're getting a better version though. I'm still planning the pick up the JP version for authenticity, but this gives hope the NA might at least see a slowdown patch one day.

Explain this to a Halo, CoD or GoW player

It seems this is a reality. Will explain in US thread.

Why "closer to the Japanese version" and not "identical to the Japanese version"?

If i remember correctly there were some slow down accuracy issues with MBL in JP, weren't there?

If they make the MBL modes more accurate to the PCB in the EUR release I'll eat my hat. What I read from that comment is that they're making the EUR slowdown closer to the JPN port than the US port. I very much doubt it has anything to do with making the EUR slowdown closer to the PCB(s).

Cant they just copy the jap Deathsmiles? Why do they need to make the slowdown as close as possible? Just copy the game and translate geez.

It could have something to do with the fact that they used a new graphics engine for the US release, which they're now also using for the EUR release.

Yes we are!

Maybe we'll see the first case of somebody importing a PAL console.

Seriously though, this is great news.

I'm so looking forward to this game. The first cave xbox 360 game in europe released on disc. In a plastic case you can put in your shelve, wondering in awe at it, for the novelty of it.

I don't know right now myself whether I'm serious or not.

Anywhoo... Got this gem preordered for about 3 months now, so looking forward. :drools:

Play.com has the release date as feb 18th @£24.99

http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/18 ... oduct.html

It's great news that the slowdown will be more accurate, and at least it shows that if you make your opinion heard they sometimes listen.

I'm a bit surprised by the artwork though. With so many well designed bosses I thought they might push that aspect of the game to try and catch a few floaters. I think the platinum illustration was slightly better, as was that artwork of Sakura and the tree boss from aksy's. It's not important, but hopefully it will sell enough to get the ball rolling for more ports (... or fail horribly so cave just makes region free games... )

This release seems to be good news indeed. I had this game on my blacklist before, but if its coming to the PAL region (Australia, even better) and has all those difficulty modes I may get it. Gotta watch some YouTube vids first to see if its to my taste though.
EDIT: No, sorry. I wasn't exactly liking the loli-orientation of Cave's newer games to begin with, and seeing this stupid going-from-the-rear psychic cow has blow any chance at me taking this game seriously. If I physically see this in a shop I'll get it for LOLs, but considering Australians always have to put in extra effort to get anything for a supposed "PAL release" I'll probably give this a miss.

I don't think the content of CAVE games is supposed to be taken seriously.

...when I first saw that video my thought was "OMG - THAT IS FUCKIN' INSANE - I MUST HAVE THIS GAME"

Not long after it came out on the 360 and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It's not to every CAVE fan's taste but it's a great, great game none the less.

I just play games for the gameplay, not for how serious/not serious the bosses are.

Is that weird now?

Yes. It is completely weird. Actually, you frighten me with this attitude, so...

I recommend getting a pair of stones, neutering yourself to make sure you don't spawn any offlings and then lock yourself in a cellar to die a terrible, starving death. For the protection of the rest of us.

Naughty Play! Something slipped! I imagine there might be an angry phonecall. I'd got a date from RSG through work I'd had to keep to myself because of professional courtesy, and it was offered as a tentative date.

Also, I've finally got an appointment in the new year to visit RSG and give it a play. I can feedback on the slowdown from that, but I've only played the JPN Xbox 360 modes, and the MBL PCB, so I can only offer so much.
