The quality is okay (I ripped my UMD to stick, so I don't know about the UMD load times). You can play in yoko or tate (recommended, yoko is too small). Pretty crappy game(s) if you ask me, but don't take my word for it..

FINALLY some progress. I'm pretty sure this should be out for Xbox 360 by the end of the year or within the next few months at least, because the official American achievement list just went up today. Usually when SNK games have their lists go up for XBLA games, they're just weeks away from release.

In Sky Stage mode (played on PSP, sigh...), would someone know why you get one boss or another ?
For example you have to defeat Shermie OR Rugal in level 3, how can I be sure to face Shermie ?

Despite my hopes for this being very, very low I'll probably pick it up if the theorized (or maybe confirmed?) US XBLA release happens. Not interested enough to import the PSP version though with today's cruddy exchange rates.

Ok I have tried the Xbox 360 version. I am not sure if its final or not, since text achievements is in japanese while screen text is in english. Also I think it has some hitbox bugs.
It is the arcade version and not the PsP version wich is a letdown since I was hoping for the PsP title.
Only 1 playmode where you can select the stage and loop as well as the difficulty level. 2 players local coop is available.
As far as options go, you can select Tate and Yoko and make some zoom and configure the buttons.
Gameplay wise this game sucks balls, really. I'd never thought that moss could do such a mess. I have tried it, and didn't enjoyed it too much. Also the voices of the characters are in english, but damn they're rubbish.
If you want to know something esle about the port just ask.

The game doesn't have a DLC selectable option and I doubt that we'll see some kind of new DLC from the PsP version since SNK may launch that game in the near future as an XBLA title. It is just my opinion but who knows.
As for the hitbox problems are related with the real size of it. Some shots didn't touch my visible hitbox, they passed next to him and I died. I presume it is too big just like DOJ BLE.

Well, looks like it won't be as soon as some may have thought, since Microsoft just announced all of its XBLA releases through the end of October and no KOF SkyStage or KOF 2002. Fuckers.

Skystage is a pretty terrible game. I don't even think it's Doujin quality. I never saw one person playing the coinop in tokyo, and I barely played it even though it was cool to see it in person.

I gave the PSP version a chance, and it's even more terrible with the controls and tiny screen. They most likely are canceling the 360 version if any sense came to them. The PSP version sold badly.

Most people say the same things about most liscensed shooters (Strike Witches, Gatchaman, Ultraman, Mazinger, Gundam) but I enjoy them all quite a bit. I love the Shikigami engine and would love to see what they did with the game, and yes, it was very pointless to put out a PSP version, no one plays/owns PSP, especially for shmups.

I played the PSP version for a couple hours. When I realized the bullet patterns sucked ass and that a 1CC is impossible (in my eyes) I gave the game up. I tried to play for score, but could never get past around 2 million, because I don't think the game was designed to not credit feed. I even tried spamming Athena's teleport, but nope, doesn't make it any easier. Playing SydIII was cool, but her bomb sucks hard core. And I mean the last boss, did you see what I saw? Even if I made it to him with an extra life, he'd spam me. Grief programming if I ever saw it.

I'd honestly be willing to give the 360 version a chance, at least I'd have my arcade controls. As long as they don't try and charge more than 800 points for it.

Strike Witches looks cool, it's the only 360 shooter I don't own. I'm sure I'll buy it someday.

Hmm, either this is only the Japan release (not likely) or Microsoft updated their release schedule last minute. Awesome news, either way, I'm psyched.

Probably not, since its already on PSP, and PS3 doesn't really get about 80% of what comes out on Xbox Live.

So, if you have yet to play it how do you know it blows?
I'm still looking forward to this, and don't really mind that it has been in release limbo. I have enough to play right now and won't be able to really get to this for awhile. But, you never know, I might think it's dope and give it priority when it does release.

There are no extends.

Almost, but that's where most people will make it before they call bullshit and stop.

I made it to stage 3.

Also I hope anyone wanting this has japanese live points saved up, because the Sept. 15th release date is Japan only. I don't even think the US has a date yet.

It'll be released in the States. EVERY single SNK game has been like this, it gets a Japanese date and people start panicking and wanting to buy JPN points, but in the end it gets released in every single territory when the date hits.

The story mode is actually fairly easy (1cc in 2 days) as they are 4 new characters with many bullet cancel opportunities. Iroha is probably the best on that. In this story mode, patterns are easier in the stages (but the bosses are the same), you only have 1 loop, you can choose your path and the very last boss (same on each road) is fairly easy.

In the Sky Stage mode, it's true the game is VERY hard : no "real" extends (you only get one bomb for each), last bosses (Chris and Orochi) are incredibly hard, and the TLB (Omega Rugal) after the second loop is insane.
Besides, as I asked a few posts ago :

This is really a pain in the... and it made me stop playing 'cause every time I get used to a boss, i fall in front of the other...

No its not, The 15th is the worldwide release date. It even says that in the English version trailer.
