Nice job J. Table is now open for all scores.

Yay! Now those of us with a severe case of "play tons of shmups, but each very little" (shmup ADD) can compete amongst each other. :)

Just out of curiosity, what prompted the change?

After 6 hrs of play here's my best:

17.--300,600 - unsane - Tavia - 1-4

Well a while back I said I'd open up the chart when the lowest score was above 500k. Also it's been long enough and the limited space isn't exactly fostering any competition.

Just trying to show some love for GB2 and fill out the board a little.

i was starting to get really frustrated with this game, until i came here and noticed that a lot of people are using tavia. i had previously been using mostly marion and alucard. so i did a couple runs with Tavia and beat my previous scores.

here's a sucky one for the lower ranks :)

p.s., after level 1-4 boss, those bullets are retardedly fast. this game is BS! i could score more than this in 2 seconds in gigawing ;)

378,200 - indstr - Tavia - 1-5

Thanks, cigs, for opening up the score table to us mere mortals. I appreciate it because this is one of my all-time favorites.

355,200 - professor ganson - Valpiro - 1-5

An old score. I'm planning to get back to this game before too long.

Awesome score, CRI.

So I just got the Japanese PCB and it seems like the default is 4 lives to start. Is there some way to change the setting? If not, then are my scores disqualified here? (I assume so, but I'd like to know what people think.)

You can change life setting and other stuff in the service menu.

Cool, do you know how to access that? I'm using a Sigma supergun.

Thanks much! Looks like I'm in the same boat. Hopefully I'll get this sorted out soon.

EDIT: Yep, figured it out. It was set to EASY and four lives. And I was thinking: this game is easier than I remember. No such luck. Thanks again.

Thanks. Yeah, this PCB is probably my most prized piece in my gaming collection. Especially now that I've figured out how to play with Normal difficulty and 3 lives.

Small improvement, though I choked at the 1-4 boss:

There's a Tavia 2-ALL video up on Youtube, by GOD.

Edit: apparently it is a different player than the one who made the superplay with Aine.

Anyone still playing this? I dug up my DC copy the other day, and it's HARD =) My current high score..I'm not sure, it's above 250k somewhere or thereabouts with Valpiro or Morrigan (I usually restart as soon as I die), but I'm kinda learning the game and improving. I love Valpiro, but he's just too slow for the crappy DC pad and a 5'' tated LCD. Tavia's awesome for survival though. I loved Valpiro's melee and even his charge and even his bomb (which I never use anyway), but I found him way too hard to stay alive with. Shame, his melee is...beyond words.

I've learned some things from GOD's run up on youtube, most notably the fact that Tavia's melee cancels bullets and...wow, I keep forgetting what I wanted to say. Getting annoying. Anyway, I'll be keeping myself plenty occupied with this and Gradius V until Ketsui Death Label comes...And then the newly announced localized X360 ports...I hope they don't come out for a while; I've got a lot of games to play and a lot of money to save up =P

Anyway, I hope to see me getting some decent scores in the coming...units of time...and I hope I spark up some of the dormant competition among the better players; this game doesn't seem to get enough love =)

356'400 - m3tall1ca - Marion - 1-4

m3tall1ca - 11

I had several paragraphs punched up about some on-topic stuff and some semi-random shit, but I hit the red key on my phone on accident and lost it, so I'm not too keen on straining my brain to fix that >:(

But playing for score really helps keep you on your toes. It was a good thing I had a four/five day weekend of heavy counterstriking to come back with a fresh mind. Marion may be weaker in terms of shot, but she's balanced and badass. Love the ten-foot melee and sex-kick -like effect on it. Tons of damage. Got a badass rush when I got to Stage 4. Got destroyed really quick, though ^_- This is good enough for writing, I guess. Everybody come back and play Gunbird now lol! Such a great game, no love, no love T_T =P

I do love it, but it's so frustrating as well. It took me about a month of play to get to 1-5 once with a crappy score.
