I'm surprised your ticket hasn't arrived yet spadgy. Mine and Super Laydock's arrived last week.
As for other visitors to the show, there will be a lot of people I know there, but not really anybody else from the shooting field. Just some other pro fruit players and fighter players.
EDIT:- I think LUNardei asked what Mr Hong Kong's real name is, he puts up MHK.

I did just move house, and am passing by my old place tomorrow. Hopefully that will hold the key to the secret.

@DEL:
No prob. All I need to do is find a box to put it in so I can transport it safely (the thought of carrying $900 worth of PCB on a train makes me very nervous). I'll bring the spare Sanwa stick and some unused Hori fire buttons down with me as well, just in case the Casino want them and can make use of them.

Perhaps they could go in that Mushi cab, unless there's a better place? Amazing offer Icarus. You deserve much praise.

Funny, as I was just thinking how nervous I'd be about PCB transporting, but then I guess we've all left it to posties and delivery men before.

You are a brave and generous fella...

Hi everyone. I will be attending the March meet (as it's on the weekend) but unfortunately will not be able to attend the ATEI mini-meet due to having to work on that day.

Look forward to meeting you all then. 8)

I talked to Bob the engineer tonight and asked him to bring another good vert cab in. He called the Boss and will try to get one from the warehouse in the next few days.
If it happens, I'll need ill6's help with choice of a board to be installed. Either now until March 3rd or simply for the two days of the Meet. Icarus's Pork should still be brought down regardless, I don't want players flying in and finding a lack of new shooters.

Cheers.

^Bob's down for the week because of the ATEI & you're right, he's only part time now - very infrequent.
Remember Mister Mills, Super Laydock and I will be at the ATEI on Tuesday from 10am, then the arcade for the evening. If you've got the time on tuesday, just turn up at Earls Court and I'll sort you out a pass.

What time are you heading to the arcade do you know, in case we're all to busy to actually meet at ATEI (I'm suddenly getting a few appointments booked at the show...)?

MHK is apparently cursing Pink Sweets on a daily basis. He hasn't been able to beat my crappy score.

Anyway.

London Meet 5.5 began yesterday at the ATEI 2008:-
Image
Masamune vs Zakuta on the new Tekken 6.
There was what we call 'bare drama' on the Brent Leisure Bandai Namco stand :!: At 2pm someone from Brent Leisure came and took Tekken 6 off freeplay, which is against the Show rules. Basically the small minded idiots at that stand decided that Tekken 6 was too popular and young ruffians like Masamune should be prevented from playing it.
Local Hero Chunkis went to the exhibition management to complain and then recorded a youtube special on the matter. It features crazy amounts of cursing and it really made my day. Show security turned up. I will provide the link when its ready  .

Troublemaker Masamune is no stranger to drama at the London Meets, he was also kicked out of the Trocadero arcade during London Rando Meet III.

New Super Laydock and KAC on Pink Sweets.
Again, notice the Mills-type large rucksack on the back for extra scoring potential.

Don't worry spadgy, Skykid did the same thing in the arcade later on, he also wasn't sure it was me  .

Nikism, RGP, Super Laydock, KAC, Gordon the ex Drunk, Pac Man Craig, Masamune, Chunkis, Tufty Boy, Mark Moore - to name but a few of the attendees.
MIA:- The Old Mills & Poker Chris.

I'm not one to usually show my work about, as the idea of people reading my articles makes me feel meeker than a stray sheep, but here's my coverage of the ATEI on gamesindustry.biz. Wrote it long before I knew you and others were one of the crowd at the Tekken 6 machine DEL! It's from a business view to a certain extent, so rather staid in tone. Hope the word 'conventional' doesn't get me in trouble!

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=32372

Actually, I'm writing a more 'experiential' piece for Eurogamer, from a gamer's point of view rather than a reporters. I'd quite like to mention the Tekken 6 'free credit switch off incedent' in that one if I can, so does anybody have a link to the Youtube video? I won't post that in the article at all, but it would be great to see to get some more info, and a feel for the anger!

Yes I would expect that, after all they are Japanese owned and Brent Leisure is UK.

Don't worry about any of my comments about Tekken 6 spadgy, I just wanted to highlight some things.

Cheers Del.

Yeah - I had to stick to word count and style, and Gamesindustry.biz is mainly for industry people so I couln't induldge there too much in personal things like just how awesome Tekken 6 was and the attitude towards players, because my breif was to some up the show as a sign off the business.

For Eurogamer however, while I still need to discuss the ATEI as a sign of the times for UK arcades, the article's for gamers about the games, and the attitude towards gamers seems a perfectly topical and potentiallly contentious issue. Del, or anybody else made victim to Brent's approach; do you have a professional role in the industry in anyway, as if so I might (and I have to emphasise 'might') be able to include a quote.

I have to focus on everything else there in just 1000 words, but it would be nice to cover the attitude of an dying industry to the people who really support it's return.

Must say Konami were actaully really good, and talked plenty about considering the player as much as the businessman.

Nice writeup, spadgy. ^_-

Anyway, I've updated the first post of the thread with some detailed info for visitors looking to come over for the Meet. I haven't compiled the attendance list yet, so if you're definitely coming - and likewise if you aren't entirely sure - just note it in the thread if you want to and I'll add you down. The attendance list is optional of course, just something to give people an idea of who and how many are coming.

When it gets closer to the Meet date, I'll drop up a registered-users-only subforum at namakoHQ so people can share contact details - mobile numbers, email etc. As in Meet IV, it makes it easier for attendees to get in touch with everyone (if people get lost, want to split off/catch up at any point, if people want to meet up on days outside of meet time etc).

I'll definitely be there. Only about 5 tube stops or so for me as I just moved flat so I've got no excuse at all.
