Mihara posted up on his blog the other day that the patch will not be able to address the loading times.
Reading that I got so dissapointed I didn't even bother posting here. For me half of the point of the damn patch was to fix the loading issues.

That's distressing to hear. There's absolutely no need for any of those loading times at all. Just look at how quickly all the loading is done in Futari, it's practically non-existent.

No more news about release dates and so on? I really like the game, but having to use the HOME button every time I make a selection in the friggin' in-game menu is ridiculous (I'm using a hacked pad that does indeed work perfectly in all other games I've tested). i wonder why a HDD install doesn't improve loading? Is the system doing something fruity like storing everything compressed and they using some god awful slow decomp?

That is correct. Installing on the hard drive does not reduce the load time or anything meaningful. It does reduce noise of the DVD drive spinning, if you have your volume way down. In theory it reduces wear on the DVD drive as well, but that's not the part of the 360 that typically breaks. I splurged on a 120gb drive for my Japanese 360, which now that I think about it was overkill considering the number of games I will ever buy. I just install them all "because I can".

Couple of days ago I got myself a 120gb HDD from Ebay as well - for 49 Euros (including shipping from Hongkong) you really can't complain. I guess the good news is that it will probably come out sooner if 5pb is doing it rather than Cave starting from scratch. Assuming 5pb has done ANY work on it thus far anyways. I don't need the slowdown to be perfect since I've only even put maybe 10 credits into the PCB, but I really hope more than anything else that it doesn't look like shit on a tated CRT at 480p. Hopefully 5pb learned more than a few lessons from what happened with DOJBLEX. They did say that they were using a different dev to handle the Ketsui port. At the very least, it would be kinda had for the whole source code thievery to happen again, since no real port of Ketsui exists (at least not one available publicly).

TG that 5pb has a different developer on Ketsui. If it's not M2, hopefully it's Arika (in that case, maybe throw in a Death Label mode). It would be horrible for Ketsui to get butchered by some unproven team.
