Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
To the best of my knowledge the PS2 version doesn't have it either, though obviously an autofire controller would fix that: I can understand why they didn't include it, to preserve the Takahashi Meijin-esque emphasis on manhandling that fire button, but it is still kind of a pain. Aside from that I still don't remember the game being all that tough, though.

How can I deal with all the laser spam at the end of Eschatos, particularly when the final boss is spinning around all over the place? Is there a safe spot somewhere?

At the start of the original Mushihimesama what the hell does Reco say when you begin stage 1?
Sounds like:
"Do we.... eat chicken balls?!"
Seriously it does and I can't unhear it

I don't understand the first words, but it's something like "***...Ittekimasu!" ("***...let's go!")

The phrase before it is "junbi ii?" > "are you ready?"
Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
Some guy on mamehub told me that "Blazing star has a true last boss, it is unlocked by having some numbers in the score and looks like a giant head of that baby".
....I think the question is rather obvious.

Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
Anyone mind giving me some advice on Caladrius Blaze's scoring system? I just made it further on one credit than I've ever gone (stage 4 boss), but my score was way under my best. I also notice I'm getting those leveling chips way more slowly than I should be. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what. My current goal is to get in the top 100 on the Story Mode/Evolution leaderboard (currently 109th), and I can get through the 2nd boss and first mission stage with no lives lost/no bombs used. Trying to do just a little better than that but I'm obviously not grasping something about the scoring here. Any help would be great!

Basically, use your special weapons as much as you can: doing so increases how many level-up chips you get at the end of a level, and killing enemies with them raises your score multiplier. There's an ST thread in the Strategy section with more detailed info.

Thanks! That thread's gonna be super helpful. And I definitely will post my scores, once I have some I feel are worth showing off, heh.ACSeraph wrote:Everything you could ever possibly want to know: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45799Seraphis Cain wrote:Anyone mind giving me some advice on Caladrius Blaze's scoring system?

Is Saturn Kingdom Grand Prix fun/playable when you take out the racing aspect (via some code)? Does it control like your average shooter when there's no racing? (I have no interest in the racing gimmick but I tend to love Raizing games...)

Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
It's playable but a bit empty, IMO, since the game is pretty simple when you take the racing part out...you do get more of an opportunity to ogle the pretty sprite work, though.
Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
Does it control like any other shooter when you take out the racing (i.e. no nonsense about being faster or slower whether you are at the top or the bottom of the screen)?

I have a question about imports: What Shmup is recommended for the Xbox 360, Retail or Download? I would like to dust off my 360 and play some games but I would like to get back into shmups.

Yeah, the screen scrolls at a fixed rate when you're in "non-racing" mode.nosorrow wrote:Does it control like any other shooter when you take out the racing (i.e. no nonsense about being faster or slower whether you are at the top or the bottom of the screen)?
What region is your 360? That affects what's available for it somewhat.I have a question about imports: What Shmup is recommended for the Xbox 360, Retail or Download? I would like to dust off my 360 and play some games but I would like to get back into shmups.

If you're able to download it I would recommend Valkyrius. Game does not get the love it deserves.GamingJim wrote:I have a question about imports: What Shmup is recommended for the Xbox 360, Retail or Download? Where is the damn Ketsui score board ?
From those listed in the index, one is locked and the other is inactive (no actual scores on it).
Am I going blind ?

You mean this one? It's the first one listed in the high score board index under Ketsui.

What region is your 360? You are insanely spoilt for choice on there. See the first post in this insanely useful thread by Elixir for a good list of 360 shmups, with links and info a plenty! You'll need to scroll down a little for the game list.GamingJim wrote:I have a question about imports: What Shmup is recommended for the Xbox 360, Retail or Download? Can someone that knows about Akai Katana help me out? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a2yyDK1Gek
In this video the player is able to get full energy by shooting a few enemies at the mid and lower part of the screen.
When he has 2080 points from killing those enemies he has full energy. I tried to do the same thing he did but I never
have full energy like he does when I'm at 2080 points. I'm at about 75% energy while he has full energy. How does
he get energy so quickly? I believe every enemy I kill drops energy but not as much as the player in the video gets.
I'm playing Type 1 on Original just like he is.

Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
It's been a long while since I played Futari and looked through the hi-score forum and noticed that I had cleared 1.5 Maniac on Novice but not Original? I have no recollection of this but I assume that I found Maniac mode easier as I haven't 1cc'ed Original on Novice?
So, is Maniac considered easier than Origianl for survival play on the non-Novice difficulties? And how does the Black Label compare difficulty wise? I hear people say that Black Label is way easier.

Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
I would say that Maniac is harder than Original unless maybe you got for full on no miss no bomb scoring in Original and the rank goes high. At a certain point the bullets will become VERY fast. Other than that I would say Original is way easier for straight survival play.
Black Label is easier on all modes, still very fun.

I have another question... Will Raiden V be released in the States via retail? Not DLC? Because I was told that UFO, the company that currently holds the rights to the series, no longer releases physical copy, and now I'm worried. I already imported so much last year and this year, and now if all else fails, it looks like I'm going to have to import next year as well...

Re: Shmup Related Questions That Don't Deserve a Thread
At this point I don't think much info exists as to the nature of Raiden V's release in any territory...to the best of my knowledge the scant information we do have doesn't even confirm that it's a "bona fide" shmup.

What are the optimal autofire settings in Mushihimesama HD?
