Does the 360 "story" mode support tate, out of curiosity? Not because I'm excited to play it, but mostly just because I'm curious how it would work.

you can upload scores with score fix on but i didn't see seperate leaderboards for it.

recorded some (awful) gameplay of the 360 mode. excuse the quality.

i don't think you can't turn off the saya/operator screens but you can turn the voice volume down.
Can you rotate the picture in that mode? If so, how does it handle Saya and Operator? Above and below?

yeah you can rotate it. it actually gets rid of the whole saya/operator screen.

The new arrange BGM is not too bad, especially stage 3. :)

Has anyone tested the SE, LE and SLE discs yet on a US or PAL 360 to confirm Cave's claim that all of them are region free?

Espgaluda II's LE was region locked, even though the standard was not.

Well, at least Mimiroru said...LE disk works on my PAL 360, for those who were still unsure about RF.
Same with Play-Asia's claim, so it is indeed region free.

Thanx for uploading the gameplay!

the new OST isn't a real upgrade of the first one... it's cool how it was arranged stage 4 and stage 5 (suddenly DFK).

And I don't buy that ending... a proper DDP needs to have Longhena on it, somewhere.

have you tried arranged Expert mode? is it a watered down version of the original too?

not past the first stage, but the difficulty appears to be the same as novice/arcade/expert up until hibachi/inbachi.

any cool written material in the artbook? I only got the regular edition myself, but was hoping someone could scan or take some pictures for me, if there's interviews or anything else worth translating.

I heard a few months ago it was supposed to have an exclusive interview but I don't know if it ended up happening... Please scan for the man (blackoak).

From what I can see, the artbook contains:

-All of the character dialogue from the arcade mode.
-All the dialogue between saya and the operator in story mode.
-Interviews with 17 people (Zwei and Narico are the only english names I can read). I'm guessing these are the people you see at the ending credits

I'll try to get a hold of a scanner.

Check PMs

I only scanned the text from the interview section. No clue if the information is useful or not.

Thanks! Its pretty cool, they interviewed almost everyone involved in the project, including Yagawa and some other people I haven't heard of. I've got a bit of a backlog atm, but I will get to this in the next week or two for sure. I imagine someone will eventually want to translate all the dialogue too... pestro87?

Sure :) I'm actually on vacation right now but I'll be home by Sunday night so I'll begin with the dialogue translation next week as well. I ordered the LE though but I assume that that artbook also has the dialogues in it.

Mildly disappointed that Arrange is just the same game with different resource handling.
I hope Expert is harder than the original Expert.

They talk too much.

Since you fight Hibachi+Inbachi at the end of Story, do you get a different boss if you no-miss no-bomb the entire thing?

I didn't like that they left out the good bits in the original Stage 5 theme.
The ending song isn't too bad. It's not a complete clusterfuck like the intro.

So many DOJ moments in the arranged music, it felt familiar but also different in other parts. Not bad. <3

But I dunno, I've listened to the normal SDOJ soundtrack so much, I feel more accustomed to that one. But I will always love the original DOJ music a lot. (mixed feelings there )

Since Formless God already covered the question, I was gonna ask if you always fight Hibachi at the end of 360 Mode, and no other requirements needed?

My other question was also the requirements for fighting Hibachi in Arcade HD/Ver.1.5/Novice.

Played it for an hour or so today, verdict is still out on it, I was really disappointed with DFK (bullet canceling in DDP just ins't right) so I'm looking forward to putting some time on it.

As for the scoring I have no idea what I'm doing. I had to pick the chick in her bikini for the first run and got destroyed, think I'm gonna have to practice with the clothes on for a while.

In Xbox 360 mode: you have three shots: Laser, rapid, and combo of the two. When you are in Hyper you collect green stars which fill up your meter in the top right corner which is also tied to the bar at the bottom of the screen. When you use the combo shot (laser and rapid) it eats away at that meter, it also drops the meter when you bomb or auto bomb.

Thats all I have for now. I was able to get my pedestal cab functional just in time...

Exactly which version of DFK are you talking about...? Black Label is all about cancelling bullets for score, but if you're doing well in DFK 1.5 you will not be cancelling bullets much. Especially in the loop, where your hypers quickly lose their ability to cancel bullets, so your hypers are used more for the initial invulnerability period as a means of escape. In DFK 1.5, you really only hyper once early on in the stage and then try to maintain your chain without using any more hypers, as a stocked hyper gives you a point multiplier based on your hitcount. Scoring is all about limiting your hyper use and not actively cancelling bullets constantly.

Arrange A has a good bit of cancelling, but you also want to be shooting at bullets in normal mode when a lot are onscreen to cash in, and it's much less of a simply shoot 'n cancel away hyper system than it might initially appear.

You and everyone else it seems. I shunned it in favour of BL originally, but I've been playing 1.5 a lot recently and I have its system down now (and Roo is right, it's not about cancelling or your Hyper rank increases and bullets become quickly resilient - that will kill you good n' dead even on mid-bosses.)

I do understand why people don't click with DFK though. Its system and application are pretty abstruse, and something feels slightly off for a DDP game when you're playing for score, since abstaining from Hyper usage for half a stage is an unusual way to claim digits. Also chain breaks in DFK happen for a variety of extremely aggravating reasons.

I'd say it's by far the most convoluted DDP, but by no means a bad game. Maybe just a whisker off of the intended goal, and that resonates with players.

SDOJ is meant to be a return to more straightforward danmaku bliss.

It sounds to be their best port to date. However a direct comparison between original arcade version and home port would be nice. It is a shame that EOJ had to shut down his site.

Does this mean you've no longer feeling the daifukkatsu meh?

I much prefer 1.5 to black label myself, and would happily welcome a saidaifukkatsu if they were to make it.

I'm curious for those that have played sdoj, but is the 1.5 mode more of an upgrade to the arcade version or more of an arrange mode?

Yup, I used to love reading his port critiques. I wonder how accurate sdoj's slowdown is?

From what I've seen so far it looks like the port has more slowdown. I can try to reproduce a few stages of run on the pcb to compare side by side some time if needed.

Yep well it seems close there's hardly any slowdown on the pcb at all. A-S produces the most and I saw some on other ship combos that produced more than A-S on the pcb, though I could inspect closer later to be sure. It's also different for example when the stage 1 boss zips across the screen on the pcb it causes slowdown similar to some screen changing slowdown like when selecting ships and starting a stage on DFK and the screen falls apart, that causes a slowdown, and on the port vids I'm not seeing any slowdown when that ship zips. Not that that affects gameplay. In fact a lot of the slowdowns I've noticed on SDOJ don't affect gameplay at all, they are often during explosions and are not helpful at all. But anyway I can try to repro a few stages of a run later.

I'd rather have more slowdown though for what it's worth. The pcb always felt like there wasn't enough.
