Is Star Soldier (N64) playable with the (stock controller) d-pad or is it analog only?

Do you have to install Blue Wish Resurrection Plus as a program, or can you run it directly from a folder like most indie games? The download for the game on Rancor's site is an .exe file as opposed to the usual .zip and .rar files.

I don't recall installing BWR+.

I think the .exe file just unpacks the BWR+ folder if I remember correctly.

Yeah, it turns out that the .exe was just a self-extracting archive.

More of a hardware question I suppose.

I bought a PS1 memory card so that I could save scores/configuration on Raiden DX (playing on a Japanese PS2). The game doesn't seem to recognize the memory card, however. Do only certain PS1 memory cards work with the PS2?

All memory cards work, but if you bought a third-party card there's a decent chance it's just broken.

Hey, is there a way to get 99 lives in Radiant Silvergun other than just pausing the game and letting it sit for a few hours? Or should I do that? It's a waste of electricity... Or can anyone tell me how many hours I have to wait in order to get that much lives?

if you put like $5 of quarters in you get like 60 lives

that's faster

(assuming $.25/play)

Should I just leave my Xbox 360 on for a few days and Radiant Silvergun paused?

Its an official grey Sony one. While I'm not positive it "works" per se (since I have no other games to test it with," I can confirm that there was data on it when I received it (I since deleted the data).

Guess it would help if I could read Japanese so I knew what the error messages were saying when I attempt to save in Raiden DX.

That's up to you. It probably won't spike your power bill that much, though I wouldn't do it all at once out of concern for the console. Maybe leave it on while you're at work then turn it off when you get home.

Longest I've left my 360 on was ~26 hours while I was earning one really long Dead Rising achievement. It made me nervous, but mine was a fairly old model that had a good reputation for going under.

So I'm looking at picking up the Gradius and Salamander Deluxe Packs....I have a Saturn and original PS1 capable of playing Japanese games, just curious what the consensus it among folks here on the versions. I know the PS1 does tend to be more expensive, but besides that, it appears as if there's some sound issues on the Saturn versions that are improved on the PS1 versions, based on what I've read. Just curious on folks thoughts.

Others will be able to relay this in more technical terms, but: the PS1 versions have more arcade-accurate resolution for Gradius, Gradius II, Salamander and Life Force, I believe. On Saturn they're compressed-looking. I went with PS1 for this reason. Salamander 2 looks the same on both discs.

The malevolent supercomputer from Terminator with a fondness for peach-like fruits.

In seriousness, I know nothing about the Eliminate Down team, other than they probably don't believe what their game goes for nowadays, heh.

How about someone telling me where to get the right equipment to play Thunder Force VI on my PlayStation 2? I was thinking Swap Magic, but a friend of mine told me Swap Magic might damage my PS2... Or Free McBoot, but I need something called Seagate and an adapter... But I don't know where to get HD Advance...

Does anyone have NicoNico premium and could test timeshifting this link: http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv197330 ... s=og.likes ? There seems to have been a caravan competition a few days ago in Japan with Takahashi Meijin and hopefully this is the stream. I would get premium myself but the FAQ is a bit murky as to whether or not timeshift will work in all cases, so it would be nice to know first.

Just buy a JPS2, they aren't too expensive these days. Boot discs are a big pain in the ass, and at least back in the day they weren't capable of launching every game. Anything dual layer won't work, and the blue discs also usually take quite a few tries before they will properly load even on a PS2 that doesn't suffer from blue disc issues.

Is there a list of shmups worth buying on the XBL Indie section? I put some money in my US account for SA HD and have about $9 left. Does any one have any recommendations? I've already picked up Twin Tiger Shark.

http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-2-SCP ... B00005OUQO Are you sure this works, then? Because every PS2 looks alike, I can't tell which one is a Japanese PS2...

Actually, I think Japanese PS2s are out of the question, because I doubt they work on American TVs...

Hello guys,

Any differences between Dangun Feveron and SOS?

I tought they were identical but I found that the True Last Boss was different

Looking for info I have found this:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=37015

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NOTE IF YOU USED FEVER SOS BECAUSE IT CHANGES THE TLB COMPLETELY

Anyone?

In Dangun Feveron, there's a glitch which causes your ship (or cat) to be completely invincible to the true last boss, unless you bomb. The hidden cat ship can't bomb, therefore, the TLB is pointless for it.

Fever SOS fixes the TLB invincibility bug. Therefore, all other things being equal (but don't quote me on that), SOS is the harder of the two.

I have been looking for a 3D-ish (Einhänder graphics) shmup from around the late 90's for PS1. A distinctive feature this game had was a menu to select any stage from the whole game and play it and there were a lot of stages in this game. It has a mix of horizontal and vertical stages like X2.
