Yes Boss! wrote:Yeah, just don't pay for the item when they invoice you. They will send messages for a bit but ultimately will give up. One time is OK but you get on their shit list and might not be able to order from them for a few months if you make it twice or more.

Or, you can email them and let them know your circumstances. They will email you back restating their policy but they will let you do it.
I sent them another email, hopefully they will realize a customer is more important than a few bucks. :|

This whole mess is their fault too. For whatever reason, they couldn't tell me the cost of shipping until after I had placed my order.
I just took the chance and assumed it would be something reasonable. It wasn't.

They can put me on their black list if they wish, it's not like I'm ordering from them again anytime soon.

So if you won't order from them again anyway, why should they care for you as a customer?

Anyway, my point of view is simple: By ordering something you make a promise to buy it. The seller relies on it. You are now trying to break your promise (a valid sales contract) to save a few bucks. Bad attitude, and bad way to do business.

Heh, that's not how it works. Look up "contract of sale".

That entirely depends on the specific circumstances.

So if they won't at least price-match the competition, why should he care for them as a store?

Seems to me if the store cares about not losing business, they're better off discounting him the "few bucks" he'd be saving and A) keeping that sale (losing $10 is better than losing $80 + any future business) and B) leaving a good impression on the customer that would encourage him to do further business in the future. Anyone in their right mind is going to be more amicable toward doing business with a store that helps a buyer. It isn't like there's a shortage of other online import stores as this thread has very clearly demonstrated.

Well, Amiami is a Japanese store. "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

that's great news!

Still no confirmation on region coding though - maybe someone there will pop a disc in on their lunch break

We are talking about this specific circumstance.
Was there a contract? Was anything signed? No? Then it's not legally binding.

A pre-order is nothing more than a reservation of goods to be available to those signed up. It's a non-binding agreement, and the only way stores get customers to keep their orders is by charging a deposit. Game Stop is notorious for this type of tactic.

On the flip-side, from a business' POV, they are not legally bound to release goods to you on the "indicated" date. Again, this happens all the time with pre-orders for games that have been delayed in release dates.

The problem being that a retailer's margin is around $10 on a game... Which would mean working for free in that particular case.
So for the retailer it's actually better to lose that sale, because he's not making any money on it and sell the game to another customer.

Then in the AmiAmi case, I don't know how big they are, but if they base their order to the supplier on pre-orders, I totally understand that they can be pissed off if a customer fails them... Especially if they're a small shop.

How trustworthy is nippon yasan?

Also if I used FedEx to Canada I would pay shit loads of import / duty tax right?

from what i read on various forum/ blog, it seems that the website is trustworthy, but this is the first time that i order from them, so i'm not totally sure.

from the faq (http://www.nippon-yasan.com/modules/faq/faqs.php)
7. Do I have to pay tax when I receive the package?
Normally no, we do our best for you not to have to pay!

We send you the package as "gift"!

Nin-Nin game is all good in my book.

Their SLE was the most reasonable on the net, at £100 almost to the penny (and reasonable shipping too) and they didn't try to pull any crap raising the price because of stock problems. I know Lee at VGI is a good guy, but jacking up costs after preorders are made is bad business tbh.

Just got an email from Nin-Nin to say they have no problems with supply or allocation and not to worry, they're preparing to ship now.

All that's left is for me to get the thing safely and I'll happily give them two thumbs up.

Yep. Order-page open, refreshing every 15 minutes. Trying to do something else is hopeless and time goes 3x slower.

Nin-Nin probably has more SLE stock than the Pre-orders because they are selling them again !

The price is £ 115,- , that's what I paid shipping included from Eurotaku , Sal registered though because I'm a cheap Bastard .

It is absolute bullshit, I have changed my mind about Lee. He told me he may not even have enough to fulfill my pre-order that I placed in March, I check his site today and he has the SLE on the site for preorder?? WTF

I feel robbed because I pre-ordered it when it was £118.99 and now it is like £159.99. Way to treat customers, probably will never buy from him again after this. :x

Luckily my gf's sister is doing her Phd in Tokyo so I have ordered one on Amazon and she will forward it to me. Still a lot of hassle caused.

What exactly is happening? You preordered at a lower price and now everyone else has to buy it at a higher price?

Well, this certainly looks promising. SDOJ is marked as product of the week at Play-Asia and it reads "Region free Dodonpachi Bullet Hell!"

Now if they only would be kind enough to ship it... :D

that sucks and it's surprising he's pulling a quick one. every time I dealt with him it's been a very pleasant experience. I can't imagine he's doing it just because the value has gone up so quickly. It has to be the vendor he's getting it from - who would want to sell it at a loss?

anyway, I've had some bad experiences with P-A (preordering Demon's Souls and not receiving a copy due to unexpectedly low stock, items in stock that when I order that automatically go to backorder and my order doesn't ship, etc..) and now I choose to stay away from 'em. I had absolutely no issues with NCSX and mushihimesama HD so I went with them for the SE edition when they put it up for preorder in February.

It's gone up in price since I ordered. As I mentioned, I paid £100 after the Euro conversion. They must have done very well getting stock: I'm surprised some online stores still have the thing for sale.

That's a tad disconcerting, they mentioned that they were shipping based on order date (1st to last.) I ordered 2 months ago and mine hasn't gone out yet.
