Not game music but this dogfighting track (with the airplane noises left in) is way too epic and fitting

Highly recommend the rest of the soundtrack, you won't be disappointed.
Ah, Hotdog Storm.

I've always loved the tune from Stage 1:

Sorry, must have confused this with the other shmup music threads that had similar stuff.

Here some legit tracks that haven't been posted yet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_Br6ar2Exc - Psyvariar Revision - Earth, this was included on a japanese "Best Stage 1 BGM" compilation (link)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TODs0FqAyMw - Chaos Field - Boss, this "sound collection" version sounds more clean than any other I've heard

I think the original GB Nemesis was the first I'd played of the Gradius series, with its music (mostly drawn from prior AC, MSX and FC entries) making by far the biggest impression on me. So I was thrilled when I discovered much more recently that the stage 2 BGM hailed from Gradius II FC, where it's in much superior form. The GB's chopping out of the FC's galloping, battering rhythm lines does give the verse melody a certain eerie spidery quality, but the overwhelming energy and intensity of the latter floor it. The perfect accompaniment to the second stage's rampage through tentacleville and those thumping Hidenori Maezawa explosions. (track is titled "Fortress" on the Gradius Ultimate Collection)

Something I stumbled onto today

Fly to The Leaden Sky (Battle Garegga) metal arrange by Warinside

This is the guy who did the Danmaku Unlimited 2 and Storm Strikers ost's. I first discovered him a few years back from some of his Touhou and Mega Man X arrangements. He's purty cool, and does some nice speedy tracks.

This is the reason i love the following track. It really gives the vibe of the world already being fucked and suits the stage so well.

The highlight of MB's whole soundtrack for me is Waste Days. Wistful, fragile elegy flickering in the darkness of a brutal nose-to-nose brawl amidst choking terrain. The contrast is so good. Like a fistfull of salty chips (crisps, not freedom friez!) followed by a big icy gulp of Coke.

Whole OST is special though. TIME is one of the ultimate lighters in the air final stage BGMs. (Blast Wind has the ultimate lighters in the air Staff Roll BGM in THE LONGEST VOYAGE - "LOS ANGELES CAN YOU FEEL IT?!")

Yeah something about Metal Black really speaks to me.
I'll have to get hold of it and put some effort into getting the clear.

And so I stay on topic

Cho Ren Sha 68k's entire soundtrack is so damn cool. Been listening to it all day on and off. Missing link between Zed Blade's hyperactive dancey energy and Zuntata's odd, plaintive, inescapable melodic hooks. As mentioned previously the gorgeous, rock and roll backbeat-propelled "Pleasure Trip" is a standout but there are no weak links. Also packs that special JP game music touch, batshit crazy tracknames.

Because I'm still really happy about my clear, here's Mars Matrix stage 3 (Highest experience stage!). Not really the best shmup soundtrack, or the best track on it, but it's still pretty decent (and probably 3rd best song after the other two I posted). Fits the stage pretty well, also

Stage 1 from New Order mode, so gud. I wouldn't know how to describe that sound, when the main melody kicks in

Had a gamerip of Compile's MSX shooter Blaster Burn sitting on my HDD for a while. Left it warbling away in the background and am now in love with it. A few tracks sound very close to something Konami and Zuntata might've recorded, very catchy and offbeat respectively. Wonderful Compile tone of course. And it has popcorns named "Fagtor" and "Gayou," what's not to love? Take that, Sem-Slut!

Favourite track atm: THE HOLY GHOST - the dramatic spiralling melody and bassline gallop remind me of the awesome "Thunderbolt" from Life Force. "BLIZZARD" (next track) is straight outta Musha's towering neoclassical metal inferno.

edit: wao, this (super-untagged) rip includes the entire Guardic OST. Recognised the restless, dark-hued title melody shared with Guardic Gaiden's password/final stage BGM. I've yet to really get into any of its games, but god damn does the MSX have some good BGMs.

Been enjoying Night Raid's OST this evening. Bludgeoning metal with an atmospherically dark electronic tinge. Far from the most tuneful or sophisticated shooter BGM, but that's no problem with such gleefully malevolent vigour. "Monolith," "Ice" and "Cogwheel" are my favourites, but it works best as a whole with its relentless chug/pulse and EP-quick runtime.
